Press release from Frontiers Music:

BREAKING NEWS: Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of SNAKES IN PARADISE to the label for the release of a new album in early 2017!

Snakes In Paradise are a Stockholm based band which melds a powerful mixture of influences of 70's era British Hard Rock with American AOR and a blues-y singer who really sings from the soul with five amazing musicians and world class production!

With three original studio albums under their belt released at the end of the 90’s and early 00’s, the band has recently reunited, playing live at the Rockweekend Festival in Stockholm last February, and now they are ready to unleash a brand new album!

“And it was until this day, that the rumors became true… There will be a new SNAKES IN PARADISE album,” says singer Stefan Berggren. ”With our old albums taking a life of their own we have to thank all the fans and people who made it happen. Guess the hard work paid off in the end. And for the first time we are all in alignment with the right time to release it, with record label Frontiers Music Srl. And we believe it is the right label for our music. The new record will be in the shops in the beginning 2017. Stay tuned!!”

Oh, that's very cool. A very good band who kind of faltered a bit at the end there, but their releases through the late 90's were of a very high quality. I look forward to their return very much.

From Frontiers:

BREAKING NEWS: Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the release of the much welcome comeback album from Swedish melodic rocker SNAKES IN PARADISE, entitled “Step into the Light” on September 14th.

Pre-order the album HERE: http://radi.al/SnakesInParadise

Snakes In Paradise came to the attention of melodic rock fans in 1993 when they acted as the back-up band for Mark Free. The band introduced the world to their original material soon thereafter when their self-titled debut album was released in 1994. Produced by the late Brett Walker (Alias, Jeff Paris, Mitch Malloy), the album showcased a combination of British hard rock mixed with American AOR delivered by a soulful blues rock singer and four outstanding musicians. It was truly a dynamic record with immediately hummable melodies while simultaneously not sacrificing the heaviness and power of hard rock.

The band’s second album, “Garden of Eden” followed in 1999 and was inspired by Whitesnake’s more popular and most well-known material, thus satisfying fans of the musical formula on the band's debut. After the release of “Dangerous Love” in 2002, another album chock full of hooks and harmonies, the band called it a day.

Singer Stefan Berggren wound up working with Company of Snakes (a band formed by former Whitesnake members Bernie Marsden, Micky Moody, and Neil Murray), Lee Kerslake (ex-Uriah Heep, Ozzy Osbourne) and Razorback for a stretch of time, but in 2016, the members of Snakes In Paradise reconvened to discuss making more music together. "I started to get more and more questions from journalists about a new Snakes In Paradise album,” tells singer Stefan Bergreen. “I was also asked to write some songs in the Snakes style by a few different musicans. One of them was Alessandro Del Vecchio, with whom I did an album called 'Revolution Road'. On that album, some of the Snakes guys were guests. The album turned out great and eventually, Snakes started to get lots of show offers. One being from the Rockweekend in Stockholm. After the show, I decided to send one of the songs I wrote to Serafino, the President of the Frontiers label. He liked what he heard and offered us a record deal immediately. And here we are."

“Step Into The Light” is the band's first album in 16 years and again melds the melodies of classic US AOR of the 80’s with some truly exquisite hard rock. Stefan Berggren’s voice is better than ever and the songwriting is more refined than ever. “Fans should expect a Snakes In Paradise album with a familiar sound,” continues Stefan Bergreen. "Not much has changed musically from the first albums, really. Still the same drum kit and same guys playing together. That makes this our signature sound, but perhaps this time a bit beefier and more mature. We are better musicians now and with a little more depth to the songwriting."

"We always have a special magic when we play and write together,” concludes Stefan. "We poured our hearts into this album and we hope you like it as much as we do. This could be the strongest album of all the albums we have done. We also hope to see the fans on the road some day soon!”

Pretty decent stuff. As usual, there's good and there's bad. All coming together for an okay album. These guys and House of Shakira, for some reason, always go hand in hand for me. Same era, and same kind of albums. When they're melodic/AOR they're really quite good, but when they're not - which is generally half their albums - they're not so great.

A few good songs here, namely 'Liza,' 'Love on the Otherside' and 'Silent Sky.' Plenty of other decent songs too - not a bad album and in all honesty, it's just nice to hear them back.

    • Doubtful. Most fans will favour Slippery and New Jersey. Hell, for many years 7800 was considered a weak album by many. The first and second album would only be chosen by the absolute die hards.
    • Roll On Down the Highway-BTO
    • I feel like the fans voting would result in more songs from the first two albums.
    • Looks like a pretty nice compilation to me. That said, this sort of stuff doesn't interest me at all anymore.  There was probably a time it would've but now it's just too easy to make your own playlists in spotify to bother.
    • Thankfully newer songs are at a minimum, but I really can't see fans voting for stuff from the new album even if they were the two best songs on that album
    • Final track listing revealed. Time to see if it is a genuine vote or the band/label putting in shit from the newer albums DISC 1 1 Livin' On A Prayer リヴィン・オン・ア・プレイヤー 2 It's My Life イッツ・マイ・ライフ 3 Born To Be My Baby ボーン・トゥ・ビー・マイ・ベイビー 4 These Days ジーズ・デイズ 5 In These Arms イン・ジーズ・アームズ 6 Always オールウェイズ 7 Have a Nice Day ハヴ・ア・ナイス・デイ 8 Runaway 夜明けのランナウェイ 9 You Give Love a Bad Name 禁じられた愛 10 I'll Be There for You アイル・ビー・ゼア・フォー・ユー 11 Keep The Faith キープ・ザ・フェイス 12 Bed Of Roses ベッド・オブ・ローゼズ 13 Bad Medicine バッド・メディシン 14 Wanted Dead or Alive ウォンテッド・デッド・オア・アライヴ 15 Blood on Blood ブラッド・オン・ブラッド 16 Legendary レジェンダリー DISC 2 1 Never Say Goodbye ネヴァー・セイ・グッドバイ 2 Someday I'll Be Saturday Night サムデイ・アイル・ビー・サタデイ・ナイト 3 She Don't Know Me シー・ドント・ノウ・ミー 4 Lay Your Hands On Me レイ・ユア・ハンズ・オン・ミー 5 Dry County ドライ・カウンティ 6 This Ain' t A Love Song ディス・エイント・ア・ラヴ・ソング 7 Wild Is the Wind ワイルド・イズ・ザ・ウィンド 8 Tokyo Road TOKYOロード 9 Everyday エヴリデイ 10 I Believe アイ・ビリーヴ 11 I'd Die for You アイド・ダイ・フォー・ユー 12 Living Proof リヴィング・プルーフ 13 Bounce バウンス 14 We Weren't Born To Follow ウィー・ワーント・ボーン・トゥ・フォロー 15 Something for the Pain サムシング・フォー・ザ・ペイン 16 One Wild Night ワン・ワイルド・ナイト DISC 3 1 Raise Your Hands レイズ・ユア・ハンズ 2 Living in Sin リヴィング・イン・シン 3 Thank You for Loving Me サンキュー 4 Last Man Standing ラスト・マン・スタンディング 5 Undivided アンディヴァイデッド 6 Lost Highway ロスト・ハイウェイ 7 Wild In The Streets ワイルド・イン・ザ・ストリーツ 8 Just Older ジャスト・オールダー 9 Because We Can ビコーズ・ウィー・キャン 10 This House Is Not For Sale ディス・ハウス・イズ・ノット・フォー・セール 11 Who Says You Can't Go Home フー・セズ・ユー・キャント・ゴー・ホーム 12 Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars キャプテン・クラッシュ&ザ・ビューティー・クイーン・フロム・マーズ 13 Only Lonely オンリー・ロンリー 14 I Am アイ・アム 15 Burning For Love バーニング・フォー・ラヴ 16 Hey God ヘイ・ゴッド 17 Stick To Your Guns スティック・トゥ・ユア・ガンズ 18 Any Other Day
