Swedish melodic rockers Dalton to sign a recording deal for a new album with Frontiers Records

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of reunited Swedish Melodic Rockers DALTON for the release of a brand new album expected for the fall of 2014.

Together with Europe and Treat, for a few years in the late 80’s, Dalton was a force to be reckoned with in Sweden. They enjoyed successful touring, teen media coverage, TV appearances and a string of radio hits. Even world stars such as Bon Jovi and Michael Bolton provided original songs to their two albums.

The band, formed by ex-Treat drummer Mats Dahlberg and named after his nickname, went all in with the current trends in melodic hair metal. Their image was cutting edge with designer outfits and enough hair spray every night to challenge the average user’s yearly consumption. The band was killed by grunge in the early 90´s, a destiny shared by many bands of the 80´s.

“I left the band because I wanted a harder edge while the rest of the guys wanted to go softer”, Mats explains. He formed the short lived band Speedy Gonzales with renowned guitarist Tommy Denander and Therion-singer Thomas Vikström, but the project folded before it took off. The rest of the Dalton members continued with a replacement drummer, but shortly called it a day. Dalton was left behind in the pit stop, dried out of gas.

25 years after their debut album “The Race Is On”, the original members came back with a vengeance and a reunion filmed for TV. “That’s how it started”, Mats says. ”A producer called me and asked if we would reunite and if they could film it for a documentary. I thought it was a joke”. “So did I”, singer Bosse Lindmark adds,” but it was true - and from the first rehearsal it was like time had stood still. It was so much fun!” Old hits were polished to shine and the success at premiere gig when opening for Scorpions in Sweden in December 2012 was a fact.

“That night back in December ignited the fuse, we all felt the same”, says Bosse. “Let’s get the Dalton wheels in motion again. We want to celebrate the legacy of the 80’s rock scene by putting out a new album and take it on tour. Just like we did back in the days”.

Loaded with inspiration and dedication the band went through demos made for the never recorded third album along with some newly written songs. They ended up with 11 pure excellent tracks crafted for an 80’s melodic rock album in a contemporary suit. In good company with magic minded producer Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T., Jimi Jamison) the band hit the Blowout Studios in April and are now in the process of finalizing the album due for release this fall.

A first shimmering taste of the songs from album was revealed at the recent appearance that the band had at the Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan, Italy last May 1st where Dalton premiered the new song “Hey You” (also included in the Frontiers Rock Festival cd compilation) in front of an ecstatic crowd.

Dalton is fueled up and back on the race track, ready to go – the race is on! Expect the new album “Pit Stop” to hit the shops in the fall !

yeah sounds good but not entirely blown away. Probably gonna be a 77-80% album but let's hear the full product first

Well I love the above tune. And I love this band. 'Injection' is one of the classics, imo. Can't wait for a new disc.

Not sure how an album can already be rated form a 36 second sample of one track.

From what I hear I'll pursue more samples and tracks in the future.

Agree 100%.

I need to hear the whole disc and evaluate each track to put a fair grade on it.

Plus they sung a song with a lyric that goes as such; 'I'm gonna wake you up, when it's time to make love.'

One of the not-so-great scandi-AOR acts from the past IMO. "Injection" was a good album but the debut terrible (with a few notable exceptions like "Caroline").
Let's hope for a better album this time around.

Fun track, reminds me of many Swedish Melodic Rockers with some Reckless Love added for good measure.

October will be a pricey month for many of us, Dalton, Adriangale, Vega and Allen/Lande all released on the same day.

Christmas will need to be cancelled this year.

Dammit, I love this band so much. Im going to their gig in Stockholm next month. New song sounds so great, just like old ones.

I bet they will never let me down.

I hate to say I'm surprised as I should have had faith in these guys, but I really am surprised by how good this is. Sounds like it's 1991 and this was recorded a couple of years after 'Injection.' The guys haven't missed a beat. Only heard it once so far and I think it had a pretty disappointing climax with a couple of weak songs at the very end, but otherwise, it was pretty awesome. Basic, stupid, fun lyrics, great melodies... I really enjoyed it. Definitely one of the better comebacks by a band that's been out of the game for so ridiculously long. Love it.
