Swedish melodic rockers Dalton to sign a recording deal for a new album with Frontiers Records

Frontiers Records is pleased to announce the signing of reunited Swedish Melodic Rockers DALTON for the release of a brand new album expected for the fall of 2014.

Together with Europe and Treat, for a few years in the late 80’s, Dalton was a force to be reckoned with in Sweden. They enjoyed successful touring, teen media coverage, TV appearances and a string of radio hits. Even world stars such as Bon Jovi and Michael Bolton provided original songs to their two albums.

The band, formed by ex-Treat drummer Mats Dahlberg and named after his nickname, went all in with the current trends in melodic hair metal. Their image was cutting edge with designer outfits and enough hair spray every night to challenge the average user’s yearly consumption. The band was killed by grunge in the early 90´s, a destiny shared by many bands of the 80´s.

“I left the band because I wanted a harder edge while the rest of the guys wanted to go softer”, Mats explains. He formed the short lived band Speedy Gonzales with renowned guitarist Tommy Denander and Therion-singer Thomas Vikström, but the project folded before it took off. The rest of the Dalton members continued with a replacement drummer, but shortly called it a day. Dalton was left behind in the pit stop, dried out of gas.

25 years after their debut album “The Race Is On”, the original members came back with a vengeance and a reunion filmed for TV. “That’s how it started”, Mats says. ”A producer called me and asked if we would reunite and if they could film it for a documentary. I thought it was a joke”. “So did I”, singer Bosse Lindmark adds,” but it was true - and from the first rehearsal it was like time had stood still. It was so much fun!” Old hits were polished to shine and the success at premiere gig when opening for Scorpions in Sweden in December 2012 was a fact.

“That night back in December ignited the fuse, we all felt the same”, says Bosse. “Let’s get the Dalton wheels in motion again. We want to celebrate the legacy of the 80’s rock scene by putting out a new album and take it on tour. Just like we did back in the days”.

Loaded with inspiration and dedication the band went through demos made for the never recorded third album along with some newly written songs. They ended up with 11 pure excellent tracks crafted for an 80’s melodic rock album in a contemporary suit. In good company with magic minded producer Erik Mårtensson (Eclipse, W.E.T., Jimi Jamison) the band hit the Blowout Studios in April and are now in the process of finalizing the album due for release this fall.

A first shimmering taste of the songs from album was revealed at the recent appearance that the band had at the Frontiers Rock Festival in Milan, Italy last May 1st where Dalton premiered the new song “Hey You” (also included in the Frontiers Rock Festival cd compilation) in front of an ecstatic crowd.

Dalton is fueled up and back on the race track, ready to go – the race is on! Expect the new album “Pit Stop” to hit the shops in the fall !

Well I love the above tune. And I love this band. 'Injection' is one of the classics, imo. Can't wait for a new disc.

Not sure how an album can already be rated form a 36 second sample of one track.

From what I hear I'll pursue more samples and tracks in the future.

Agree 100%.

I need to hear the whole disc and evaluate each track to put a fair grade on it.

Plus they sung a song with a lyric that goes as such; 'I'm gonna wake you up, when it's time to make love.'

Fun track, reminds me of many Swedish Melodic Rockers with some Reckless Love added for good measure.

October will be a pricey month for many of us, Dalton, Adriangale, Vega and Allen/Lande all released on the same day.

Christmas will need to be cancelled this year.

I hate to say I'm surprised as I should have had faith in these guys, but I really am surprised by how good this is. Sounds like it's 1991 and this was recorded a couple of years after 'Injection.' The guys haven't missed a beat. Only heard it once so far and I think it had a pretty disappointing climax with a couple of weak songs at the very end, but otherwise, it was pretty awesome. Basic, stupid, fun lyrics, great melodies... I really enjoyed it. Definitely one of the better comebacks by a band that's been out of the game for so ridiculously long. Love it.

    • FASTER PUSSYCAT – Like A Ghost (2022) VARIOUS SOURCES - PUBLISHED NOVEMBER 29, 2022     Eighties Sunset Strip favorites FASTER PUSSYCAT are heating up the winter of 2023 with the release of new material in the form of the EP ‘Like A Ghost‘. This release is the first for the band under the Golden Robot umbrella with Taime Downe saying earlier this year “The band and I are over the moon to join the Golden Robot Records rock-n-roll family. We are super excited to release some of our badass new tunes globally – we know the label see our vision and supports the band and we feel completely at home here.” The new songs comes just a few months before Faster Pussycat are expected to tour overseas including Australia. Not bad for a band formed four decades ago and still delivers kick ass rock n’ roll. ‘Like a Ghost‘ is a track about growing up in the 70’s, listening to the radio and doing what kids do and the memories it brings back. It features Taime‘s signature vocals carrying the song through to completion. The production is second to none with blistering guitars and the band in full force. ‘Pirate Love‘, a cover of the legend Johnny Thunders stays true to the original with strong instrumentals, killer vocals and an edge to it – everything you would expect from Faster Pussycat. ‘Nola’ is a song inspired by New Orleans, a city that front man Taime Downe holds dear to his heart. When the band started working on making new music for a release “NOLA” was the obvious choice to lead with. Past year Downe and guitarist Sam Bam Koltun began working together in the studio tracking guitars for this song. And the band is also making available again their cover of Rick Springfield’s classic ‘Jessie’s Girl’ recorded some time ago. Highly Recommended   01 – Like a Ghost 02 – Pirate Love 03 – Nola 04 – Jessie’s Girl Taime Downe – lead and backing vocals Xristian Simon – guitar Sam “Bam” Koltun – guitar, backing vocals Danny Nordahl – bass, backing vocals Chad Stewart – drums BUY www.amazon.com/music/player/albums/B0BLF6SGYX
    • New video for 'Firestarter'. From Frontiers: Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the latest release from Dennis Ward and Khymera, "Hold Your Ground" will be available on February 10, 2023. Dennis handles lead vocals, bass, and keyboards and is joined by guitarist Michael Klein, keyboardist Eric Ragno, and drummer MIchael Kolar, with Pete Newdeck contributing backing vocals. As has to be expected with Khymera and Dennis, "Hold Your Ground" is another fine slice of high pedigree melodic rock. Khymera has in fact built its reputation as one of the best examples of what great European melodic rock is all about: crystal clear production, soaring vocals, killer musicianship, and songwriting that reminds fans of the heydays of the genre when bands like Giuffria, Icon, and Signal were releasing their classic albums. While it started out as an alliance between Italian producer/musician Daniele Liverani and then Kansas singer Steve Walsh, Khymera developed into a regular musical project when bassist and producer Dennis Ward (Magnum, Pink Cream 69) entered the fold. While known as a bassist, Dennis always sang background vocals with his bands, so he was more than ready and willing to take over the lead vocals for Khymera when the opportunity presented itself.   After releasing the albums "A New Promise" (2005) and "The Greatest Wonder" (2008), Dennis took a break from Khymera for some time before returning with "The Grand Design" (2015). He then returned with another new Khymera album five years later, “Master of Illusions” (2020). Musically, "Master Of Illusions" followed the logical progression of the musical path that was started when Dennis joined the project and was a strong, extremely melodic release, showcasing the fantastic vocal abilities of Dennis and skills as a songwriter and producer. Mercifully, the wait between albums is a bit shorter this time as 2023 will see the release of Dennis and Khymera's next chapter, "Hold Your Ground", an absolute tour de force of glorious melodic rock.Tracklisting:1. • urgh both of those songs are a cheese fest. Hard pass
    • My CD arrived. Gotta say it is one of the cheapest, shittiest packaging of a cd I have seen. It is just a double panel with a disk (no tray). No booklet, no lyrics, very little info. printed. Terrible artwork (as you can see above). Glad I only paid $17 as it isn't worth more than that presentation wise. Musically I have only listened once so far so will reserve judgement until then. Note - Jack Jones only played on one track, the lead single. But he is touring with the band.
    • Slash - 4 The Midnight - Heroes Thirty Days Out - Thirty Days Out  Journey - Original Album Classics (Journey, Look Into the Future, Next) Every Day Life - American Standard
    • Brilliant tune... reminds me of prime MSG, to be honest. Maybe a slight 'Anytime' vibe? But a magnificent song.  But the song I've had in my head all week is '100 thousand years.' Man I love that one. I rated this album fairly earlier in the year, but with a bit of a jumbled year of listening I haven't concentrated too much on albums this year. Listening to everything now, and I have to say that this album stood out as one I maybe did not give it's due credit. Those two songs are excellent, and I also like 'Get Away' and 'Crash & Burn' of the rest. Some nice gear on here.
    • Exactly. Same goes for Sunstorm.
