C.P. 0 Spurs 1

Lol........

Hang on, that's Tottenham, who spent over £50M on just three players in the summer. And we lost 1-0. To a penalty. I don't get the funny bit... :unsure:

Played well yesterday, although we were a little slow in comparison to Spurs passing the ball around and looked a little short upfront to be honest. Got alot better when he brought on Phillips, Williams and Chamakh and we nearly nicked a late one. All in all a more than acceptable start, against a very good side.

Ignore the Skrill League Freak, who going by his 'Teams' start to the season, hasn't got a hope in hell of going up, yet again.Oh to be playing in the Premier league heh!!!

Definitely need 3 or 4 players to add a touch of class, but the team spirit still seems to be there, plus a fantastic atmosphere at Selhurst. Maybe if we get those additions we can do it.

Come on...C.P. looked,and played,like a lower league side in a cup tie.They need some top quality through the spine of the side,else Sperroni,who is top quality,is gonna be well busy.

That's probably fair, based on what people I know who were at the game have said. We played well, but more through workrate and passion than ability. Apparently Jedinak was an absolute beast and dominated midfield, plus Williams and Chamakh looked good when they came on. Although we do need a few players urgently, the team that started is far from our best XI - in fact, my jaw nearly hit the flor when I saw how poor the line-up was.

Sorry but Wilbraham is NOT a Premier striker,Gayle just needs a little time to develop,and how you must wish Philips was a decade younger...........And where was Boulassie.,or how you spell it.........

Bolasie = injured

Jerome Thomas = injured

Chamakh = illness, hence couldn't start

Campana = slight knock, but looks a class act

Wilbraham = yes, I agree, works really hard, but not a good footballer at all

"Played like a lower league team in a cup tie" ?. What a load of absolute bollocks. Played like a team in the lower half of the premier league, then I'll agree with you. .

Do you boys know of any free sites I can stream matches live? I haven't watched football in a long minute, mainly because I don't have TV, and following via stats wasn't very exciting, but I'd like to get back into it.

There are loads of them, often they are linked to betting sites or TV stations in middle eastern countries. I don't have links, but have Googled specific games before and found them after a few attempts (have to make sure you've got good anti-virus first and go through a lot of advertising shite).

Edit - according to the Palace messageboard, Wiziwig, witopia and lshunter.tv are good ones, although I know nothing about them.

BTW, Jez, I wouldn't get too worried about any criticisms of our performance - we have far better players in the squad who just weren't ready by that game and there will be decent new additions this week I reckon. It was a good battling performance, but some of the players we had on show (e.g. Wilbraham, Garvan) are a little out of their depth imo.

I will give those a try. Thanks.

Stoke 2 C.P. 1

Good first half, poor second half with the fitness levels showing up in the latter stages. These are the sort of games and teams we need to start picking up a point against away from home, otherwise it's gonna be a a real real struggle. See what Sunderland brings next weekend.

CP really have their work cut out to survive in the Premier League - there are so many good sides in the PL - seriously losing 2-1 at Stoke is a pretty good result.

yeah bad result all round that one.........

Not really!! Holloway didn't field one first team player, which says a lot really. We need to concentrate on the league.

Palace 3 - Sunderland 1

And we're in the points with a rather good display. Get in :)

Reality check........C.P. were ok,but they would've been given a more solid test by anyone else but................Sunderland were worse than shite...

    • As it is released now... Overall I really like like. Even if you'll hate me for this, I think I prefer their new stuff over their 80's hits. There's not a single song I don't like on this album just some little details. In the past they used to have more backing vocals. This time they often concentrate on "Aaaw"s. That makes some of rhe hooklines a bit smaller than they are. Here and there I feel the vocals are too loud in the mix. Especially in the last song. Next to the singles, "Speed of Darkness", "Live by Fire", "In my hands", "automatic survival" and "Waiting is the way" are really great in my ears
    • I think it's still a good album but it doesn't feel complete to me. Having 13 songs on "Nothing but wild" or 9 songs and a cover is a difference... There's one ballad but more of a country ballad. I loved their power ballads and I miss one one this album. I also miss the heavier side. Even the heavy songs on this album are quite soft...
    • I don't mind any of the three tracks, to be fair. The new single is the best of the bunch, imo, but for me it's missing an obvious hook. The chorus part just seems to happen, and happens, but doesn't leave something to chew on. The cover is tacky, but is what it is. First song still 50/50, but overall it's all serviceable. If there's an album due I hope it's more than "serviceable" but I find myself just happy to hear new music from them.
    • Spun this the other day, knowing nothing about them. I came away quite impressed. A few nice cuts like 'Rodeo,' 'Not sorry,' 'Jackhammer' and 'Not afraid.' As for what it is, it's just hard rock to me. I guess slightly modern, but I find it wild that something like this would need further clarification that just hard rock.
    • I've enjoyed a few recent releases from these guys but gotta admit I was a bit underwhelmed by this. 'Attracted To Danger' was my favourite track but for me it falls short of at least the album two releases back. I think the last one was a bit lukewarm for me too. Okay for what it is.
    • Haha, I have actually used that one a bit, cob. You think it makes a big difference? Always so hard to tell which prompts land and which don't when you use 10 or so prompts. But I'll be sure to keep that one up front, though. And play with it tonight.  I used the "big production" one again last night and songs were definitely crisper than the night before when a lot of my results were very "treble-y" for lack of a better term. So big production and big drums up high in the mix tonight.  Anyway, peaks and troughs. I'm going through a passage where I'm penning a whole bunch of new tracks. I do a lot of driving, but also a quite a bit of walking for my job, and I've got in the habit of jotting stuff down in my Notes app whenever something comes to me as I walk around, and trying to pump out a few new tunes. A few by-the-numbers melodic rock tracks mostly, but I got one yesterday and I really loved the outcome. A bit of a more "random" tune, but I'll be cursed if I don't actually quite like how this one came out; https://suno.com/song/885e4b14-3e08-45cf-8e33-d2e1cfd04e42
    • I have to agree sadly.  I've said it before, but Steve's passing showed that Gotthard were basically a Steve Lee backing band.
    • I guess this is a bit of a Gotthard appreciation thread now. Their debut is the best for me (I was lucky enough to own this when it was first released). Followed closely behind by the others mentioned.  Here's three of my favourites from the debut. "Angel" was the first Gotthard song I heard and was blown away by. "Firedance" is a Killer with a Killer guitar solo featuring guest guitarist Vivian Campbell and "Hush" is the first in their long line of great cover tracks.
    • This is the correct answer. With Steve, I assume, is what you mean.
    • Domino Effect, Lipservice, and Need to Believe were the last with Steve, and are all quite different. G. is my favourite album of theirs. The debut and Dial Hard are pretty much the exact same sound, but I could only pick one, because they asked for five suggestions. ;}
