I've noticed something new on the board recently.....If I do not log in, instead of topic titles, I see "protected forum". Any announcement on this change?

I suspect this is to help control the drive by morons such as our dear "friend" (I use that term very liberally and Loose) from Red Lyon, Pennsylvannia :baneed: from reading what is going on? I think it's a great idea if this is the motivation. These parasites love to read about their exploits and what problems they have created/caused thereby getting satisfaction from it. Cut them off and they don't have the same level of satisfaction in my opinion!!!

And of course....Ty and Mike do a fantastic job of monitoring the IP addresses of newly registered users much more closely than evil bay does it's users, so this prevents the "suspended users" from re registering with a new ID. Hey.....you think maybe you could loan those guys to Evil bay for a couple of weeks to get their operation straightened out and show them how it's done???? :headbanger:

Actually, it's a little simpler than that. I'm running into bandwidth issues at the moment with the board, and the hosting company is being a pain in the butt as far as upgrading (I'm looking at tripling my costs if I want to retain all the old posts on the board, as opposed to archiving stuff before 2008 or so). I really want to keep all the old posts, but right now I'm running out of bandwidth before I run out of month.

So for now I'm locking the board down to keep anonymous guests and spiders and bots from crawling all over the board, until I can get this sorted out.

*grumble*

I was wondering what was up with that. Since I can't login to the board from work for whatever reason, I occasionally drop by and just skim thru the posts without logging in during the day. The last day or two I haven't been able to do that. Kind of a bummer but at least I understand why it's being done.

I for one like the "protected forum". My wealth of knowledge shouldn't be available to just anyone ya know. It bothered me that just anyone could come here and take advantage of what I have to offer with so little effort.

Maybe Dan could set you up with your own personal forum. You could charge admission via PayPal and split the profit with him.

Delbert could do the same with the Computer forum and probably make a lot of money here too! hahaha

    • Not much information on the video's page, other than it appears to be an AI creation. Once it gets into the verse and especially the chorus, it's actually not too bad IMO.
    • While I appreciate your interest in contributing to the site, most of the artists and albums you are submitting are either REALLLLLLY stretching the boundaries, or as in the case of this band, completely off the mark. No alternagrunge. No punk. No death metal/power metal (although those can be submitted to Brutal Metal). You can always start a thread asking about a particular artist before blindly submitting it for inclusion. Thanks! -Dan
