Oh man, I'm dying to see this but have no access at all at work.

Who's in the video? The pretty boys or the fat dudes? Isn't the story with this band that the guys on the cover were just models and didn't play on the album, but the band was actually a group of fat ugly old guys?

I've never heard that before. The guys look like your basic Hair band.

Hadn't heard that one. The video is the guys from the band (or at least the guys on the voer of the cd) playing in a club. Video is actually very good...it's on par with all the other 80's rock videos.

Really? The guys on the cover playing in a pub, you reckon?

Wow, so where did the story of the fat ugly guys come from? Can anyone back me up that this was the actual story going round in regards to this release?

As for those who don't like the song... perish from this site immediately. :P

These guys took every generic idea from the genre and turned it into how every idea should originally have been executed. For me they promote all of what was perfect about melodic hard rock.

Really ?? i hope it gets better then that song...

It might be a fun song... but its not exactly good.. or memorable. Pretty standard all the way through... in fact pretty ordinary. I think its obvious why these guys didnt get a deal.

If you don't like that song surrender your life- I mean don't worry about the rest of the EP because you won't like it. Bitterness and grunge will consume you immediately. Poser.

Whoops. I mean, if you don't like that you won't like Hotboy. They did nothing original... just nailed what had already been done with perfection, imo. :)

The lead singer has an annoying voice..., the backing vocals at the end are cheap and weak. The solo was decent... but the rest of the guitar all the way through the song was so boring and ordinary..., the intro was kinda cool though..

fun yet very weak song.

Wow Backed completely.

After hearing so many go on about this band I was sorely disappointed. The song really dragged along like it was being performed in treacle. As soon as I heard the line " Me and the boys are going out tonight looking at all the lovely ladies gonna treat them right" I instantly thought uh-oh....millions of bands like this bunch (and hundreds better) so I'm surprised they're so highly regarded in some quarters...fuck the chorus is AWFUL. Thank goodness I didn't plump for one of that stash of CD's that became available some while back.

Their cd was probably made on a budget of 5 grand...& possibly a lot less. How good would Leppard, Bon Jovi, etc sound on a 5 grand recording budget instead of 5 million?

So this is the "legendary" Hot Boy huh?

Wow, that was .....

....awful.

People REALLY pay a lot of $ on eBay for that CD? Better them than me.

These were my comments in the music comments section back in 2003....... :)

"Ok...put this one in the player again. And I have to say..it is one of THE MOST overhyped cds I've ever heard. This has about as much 'balls' as a post-op transexual. It reminds me of the kind of sad attempt at music that one would hear in those B Movies. To say this cd 'rips' or 'shreds' is just laughable...give me Sweet Teaze, Concrete Jungle, Sgt. Roxx, Roxxi, Hard Knox....but Hot Boy is anything but 'Hot'. Go ahead and pay those rediculous amounts for this light in the pants loser."

On that note though....thanks Choc for finding the youtube video....I enjoy compiling those old vids!

This is killer IMO. Not the greatest choice as a single ("All the Love" is the best tune), but still top quality. This isn't really comparable with most of the other Indies out there as it's more melodic - it's really just AOR - but bands like Bon Jovi can only dream of writing songs as catchy as this. In fact it's one of the only expensive Indies I've heard that I haven't been seriously disappointed by...

I quite like it as it happens.....

If it's got the Wotty Seal of Approval... guess that makes this one officially "Fluffy!!!"

On a side note, "Hot Boy - Barely Legal" sounds like the title to a gay porn film. :yikes:

    • I posed him that exact question on his discord page as to what his future plans are.... He said he plans to relax for a bit, do his You Tube thing, keep writing new music and then will decide how to release that music.  He said as of now he's thinking he'll either do a solo thing or form his own band.  He didn't say this but I'd sort of envision a Daughtry type "band" where he kind of puts a band behind his name. So essentially, I think you're right on with his plans.  Ultimately, I think like you say, the control is a big part of it.  I think he wants to be able to operate on his own schedule to maintain his health and family obligations. It'll be interesting to see what sound the new material takes on.  It would seem logical to think it would be rock/melodic rock of some sort since that's really the type of music he's built his following with but he certainly has shown he can dabble anywhere from AOR to metal.
    • Glad I got to see them with Erik in front. All the best to him, definitely looking forward to his future outings when he is fully recovered. Would be cool to see him form his own band, where he could take control, and play around in different genres, from full on metal, to soothing AOR, the guy is so versatile.
    • Remedy - Crying Heart. One I've just seen thanks to the Iridium channel.  From the upcoming album. It's a Killer.
    • Let's not forget Benny Hill. What a Magnificent show that was.
    • Yeah... I dunno about that. It would be too cringe. Who knows? If I'm high enough, I might submit a video.
    • Yep great track and if you fancy being in the video for "The Feeling" nows your chance.
    • I'm proud to say that I had this single when I was a mere 8 years old. KISS were big down here then. Norman Gunston is Iconic for Aussies of my vintage.  The face ln the bottom left says it all. Hilarious.
    • All in all, this is a great story. Erik played a brilliant, well received, albeit short cameo with one of our favourite bands.  It was a win, win, win. A win for us, a win for Skid Row (the album certainly put them back on the map) and a win for Erik, adding this to his already impressive resume. The fact that it was so amicable with both parties is also great to see.
    • I really like this album - not every song on it but there are some surprisingly catchy melodies all over. Personally I think the singer adds great energy to the mix. It reminds me of the earlier Bai Bang ("closer to you")
