Bernie K. of Total Eclipse (hard rock band with AOR leanings) - he was also the singer for metal band Sound Barrier.

He was also on the Masi "Fire in the Rain" cd.

hey, just getting blacks to play an instrument anymores like trying to get the american record industry to sign a band that doesnt slap their hands against their chests and slobber when they talk! back in the 70's the brothas put out a decade of what I consider to be some of the greatest MUSIC!!! ever played, and that's the 70's Funk!! While never being a race of humans that believed in having anything easy, or handed to them, they took the next natural step in the evolutionary cycle, they decided to just play with record players, and rip off all their talented for-father musicians! but here are a few MUSICIANS!! I could think of.

There have been a lot of black rock bands, I think the whole hair metal part of the question kind of loads the question! theres Vernon Reid, and Cory Glover, the two frontman in Living Colour, Bad Brains, Fishbone, Black Sunday, nobody remembers the alternative\metal band Remy Zero?

Danko Jones, I believe he's canadian and he can put together an intense song! who can forget the black irishman? Mr. Lynott, rock and metal black guitarists, Rocky George(Suicidle Tendencies), Tony Macalpine, Tom Morrello's a milato, the punk band Death were all blacks! and probably the best black fronted group out of any and all of them was Orange 9mm! and as far as black hair metal\aor singers, theirs some, like what about Conny Lind? huh, and Axl Rose may as well be black! he acts just like one those colored folk!! as does Gene Simmons, so well take Morrello, and Skins, as well as Rocky George in exchange for those 2.

Conny Lind is black? Wow, there you go. You learn something new every day.

Actually, I could have sworn my testicles off that there was a photo of Peter Broman and Conny Lind on the 'Wonderland' inserts and they were both white chappies?

A BIG thumbs up for Doug Pinnick & King's X

and I could come up with:

The Hinder singer

The Sevendust singer

24-7 Spyz

Hinder are all white, unless I am missing something.

there was a british hinder around the mid 90's, an all black melodic rock quartet. They put out a couple of e.p's in the vein of journey, vocally very similar to say sam cooke / steve perry.... the singer is supposedly a well known vocal coach.

I guess that's his own little CHINESE DEMOCRACY

I forgot about Eric Gales Band and wow - Hard Corp !! from my ole stomping grounds, Nashville ! I didn't figure anyone would come up with them ! I am trying to remember what they were called after changing their name ...

Anyway, the Hinder thing - I would've sworn I saw a Hinder video a few years ago and they were a band of young white guys wuth a black singer with silver - dyed hair...and it was an AOR / lite metal sounding song, but I have been wrong before.

    • New video for 'Hit The Ground'. From Frontiers: Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to welcome Streetlight to the label family for the release of their new album, "Ignition". An AOR/Melodic Rock band from Jonkoping, Sweden, Streetlight stays true to the genre, delivering distinctive melodies, punchy choruses and strong hooks. Influenced heavily by bands like Journey, Toto, Kansas and Def Leppard, Streetlight creates music that is fun to listen to, melodic and guitar driven, with a sound that reminds you of the times when AOR was at its peak. But Streetlight does not see melodic rock as just a relic from the past. It’s more than nostalgia and music for the here and now. The band's story began in 2021, when Erik Tilling, a guitar player and good friend of singer Johannes Häger, saw that his childhood heroes Journey were recording a new album. He got this crazy idea to send a demo to the band and subsequently wrote the song 'Overjoyed'. He asked Johannes to sing on the demo, and also to mix the track. Erik was able to get in touch with Journey’s vocalist Arnel Pineda, who had only good things to say about the song, though it was not used by the band at the end of the day. Erik and Johannes decided to release the track themselves, and also co-write and release a second song, 'Stay' under the band name Streetlight. They started sending the songs to different labels. Several companies expressed interest, but they decided on working with Frontiers Music Srl, not only because Journey is on the same label, but also because, stylistically, Frontiers is a perfect fit for Streetlight’s music. Soon after they signed with the label, Erik decided to leave the band, due to lack of availability to dedicate himself fully to the band Streetlight now consists of vocalist and guitarist Johannes, guitarist Filip Stenlund, keyboardist John Svensson, drummer Erik Nilsson, and bassist Johan Tjernström. All the members have musical backgrounds as members and/or session  musicians in different bands, including Bullock Hearts, Harmony, Ole  Börud, and Narnia, among others. Johannes Häger is the primary songwriter and also recorded and produced Streetlight's debut album ”Ignition”. A full-time music producer in Sweden, Johannes has been a fan of melodic and hard rock through the years, and spent his teenage years playing in different rock bands in Jakobstad, Finland, where he originally is from. But since that time, he hasn’t had the chance to release any music of his own in the genre he loves until now with Streetlight.Tracklisting:1. Hit The Ground2. Chutes And Ladders3. Stay4. Love Riot5. • Agree.  Dig this tune. And have been playing the heck out of their When Legends Rise album lately after giving that album a chance recently.  That whole album is some excellent modern melodic hard rock that I never paid any attention to when it came out back in 2018.  I don't remember what my top 10 list looked like back in that year but that album should've been on it. I'm still struggling with a lot of their older stuff as it just has too much of that angry, modern metal vibe for me.  But their more commercial approach on their recent albums sounds good to me.
    • Just listened to this on YouTube after someone posted a topic in the AOR/hard rock forum ... I listened to these guys back in the day but gave up after second album as they were good but not great. This song though, holy shit its good. Defo moved away from metal to hard rock for this song at least.
    • I was gonna say "Does Godsmack really belong in the AOR/Hard Rock forum?" and then I heard this and said "Oh fucking yes they now do"
    • Summer Girl - Wild Rose
    • Blind Faith - Walk On Fire
    • Thank-you for sharing that with us.
