  4. I was expecting a little more ... 'oomph' ... especially when you think about Floor's work with After Forever and ReVamp ... I'll reserve judgement until I've heard a couple more songs, though
  5. This may not be the right place to post this (I couldn't find a thread elsewhere), but I'm not a fan of bands making a comeback (or carrying on) with a line-up that has very few original/well known members ... to my mind, they're more like 'tribute' acts than anything else. Thin Lizzy spring immediately to mind - without Phil Lynott (and when the line-up was reduced to only having ONE former Lizzy member in the ranks) how could it possibly BE Thin Lizzy? They're far more credible as Black Star Riders.
  6. Asgeir: Into The Silence Feeder: Pushing The Senses Vampyrouss: Of Dark Desires
  7. i think it's more geared towards those living in one. Second time in this thread someone has indicated that only morons should be interested in this movie. I hope you're not religious like the other guy, otherwise there is some thick irony in the air here. Anyway, enjoy doing your logarithms and equations while I pour beer into my ear while I watch this movie. I pour beer into my ear because my IQ is obviously too low to pour it into my mouth. I just fank Daan for lettttting mie borroww his lapt top ivory daay so I caan tipe on thizz forrunm? I thought his comment was funny....but anyway why are we seriously talking about IQ levels when it comes to Hollywood movies!!! They are 99% made so that the viewer doesn't have to think while watching.... Or why films like 'Let the Right One In' and 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' are re-made ... so that the dim-bulbs in the audience don't have to read subtitles ..
  8. Twilightning: Delirium Veil The Mariana Hollow: Velvet Black Sky Bon Jovi: Crush The Smiths: Best ... I Lorien: Secrets Of The Elder Shadowside: Dare To Dream Amorphis: Eclipse Terra Firma: Terra Firma
  9. Really? I really don't care either way, I guess, if the movie is good. But if I had to choose one way or other, I hate looking at old people. I'd much rather a young girl with loose morals on my TV screen than Agatha Christie or Nicholas Cage. Agatha Christie? She's an author. And dead
  10. ... or for conversation in general - I suspect that if you suggested to most people that they go without looking at their phone/i-Pad/whatever for more than ten minutes, you'd have a riot on your hands
  11. There used to be a couple of great second-hand stores locally, but they've long gone - nowadays, I get most of my CDs online or from charity shops (which throw up the odd gem every now and then, like the Bon Jovi promo that I picked up for 50p and sold on for about ÂŁ30 ) In Southend, the closest thing we have to a 'proper' second hand store is one of those 'game exchange' places, that sells games, DVDs, consoles, mobile phones and CDs - and they ask stupid money for things (ÂŁ8.00 for a second-hand AC/DC CD? When you can pick it up for less than that NEW?? I think not!) The good old days of spending hours going through the racks are - sadly - a thing of the past.
  12. Kate Bush: The Red Shoes Morgana: Rose Of Jericho Feeder: Push The Senses Living Colour: Vivid Asegir: In The Silence
  13. The Heat ... a nice reminder that Sandra Bullock CAN make a decent film!
  14. I don't know about there being albums that I can't play anymore, but there are certainly a few that have me skipping most of the tracks ... like DaHun, I've kept them for the memories Nelson: After The Rain Twisted Sister: Love Is For Suckers Faster Pussycat: Wake Me When It's Over Giant: Last Of The Runaways Blue Oyster Cult: Agents Of Fortune Lita Ford: Lita Royal Court Of China: Geared 'n' Primed Metallica: Kill 'Em All Gary Moore: Victims Of The Future Slayer: Reign In Blood The Almighty: Soul Destruction Motley Crue: Dr. Feelgood ... ... and the list goes on. On the other side of the coin, there are albums that I never really bothered with the first time around, but now I love 'em ... Aerosmith: Pump Ozzy Osbourne: Bark At The Moon MSG: Assault Attack Alannah Myles: S/T ...
  15. Iron Maiden: Powerslave Iron Maiden: Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
  16. Aaaaaaand I'm adding 'Poltergeist' to the list of Un-necessary Reboots ... jeez!
  17. If you ignore the controversy, it's a war film ... although in this case it's based on one man's account, and he is no longer around to respond to the criticisms being levelled. Like I said, I'd rather read his book - I don't like the idea that he's being judged by someone else's interpretation of his thinking and motivation ... and I can't help but wonder what some of the armchair critics would do when faced with the kind of choices that he apparently had to make. Controversy when it comes to the armed forces is nothing new. Nor is pillorying those who have to do things that the civilian population find distasteful - look at the guys who served with Bomber Command during WWII; they did what they were ordered to do, in direct response to what the enemy was doing, yet for years their reputation was tarnished and the crews were made to feel like pariahs ... Snipers have been a part of warfare since muskets were invented. They are paid to do a job, and they do that job to the best of their ability. I don't hear anyone criticising the Russian soldier who racked up a fair body count in the ruins of Stalingrad; nor does anyone appear to be up in arms over the revelations in the UK press about the Royal Marine sniper with a similar tally - could it just be that THIS guy was American? And it's an unapologetically American film? Made by the VERY American Clint Eastwood? If you don't like the premise for the film, don't go and see it. No-one is forcing you to watch it.
  18. Darkseed: Diving Into Darkness (reminds me of 'Draconian Times'-era Paradise Lost)
  19. I loved their debut, so I'll be giving this one a listen ...
  20. Briar: Too-Young - this lot were touted as 'The Next Big Thing' back in the day. From what I remember, they were all in their late teens, and their sound is very much in the Elixir/Iron Maiden vein Engine - is this the UK-based, NWOBHM lot, I wonder? A bit Staus-Quo-meets-Motorhead, if they are ... Little Angels: Too Much Too Young - it's oooookay, but I prefer their debut album, 'Don't Prey For Me'. I saw them with Van Halen and with Bon Jovi, and they were brilliant. The Four Horsemen: The Four Horsemen - this was an EP they put out before 'Nobody ...', I LOVE this band - probably best described as a heavier Skynyrd/Black Crowes vibe. With more swearing. At least two of them are dead now. Whatever: Sugarbuzz - this band was put together by the drummer from The Wildhearts (Stidi), and is pretty much a Wildhearts/Honeycrack soundalike.
  21. More Charridy Shop rummaging: Aerosmith: O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits (not quite 'ultimate' - nothing from 'Draw The Line', for a start - but it saves me having to buy any of their post-'Get A Grip' studio albums ) Rob Thomas: ... Something To Be
  22. I LOVE this album - I bought it on double vinyl when it first came out ... man, I'm OLD!
  23. Bloody hell - are they still going?
  24. The only up-coming 'revamp' (call it what you will) that interests me is Mad Max ... probably because it's been so lone since 'Beyond Thunderdome', and it'll be interesting to see where they take the character now ... As an aside, did anyone else watch 'Pirates of The Caribbean - At World's End', with the scene where Elizabeth gives up all her weapons, and think 'That's 'Mad Max'!'?
