  1. What's happened to the sunshine?

  2. Shed no more tears for all your fears of dying here alone

  3. I wish I could work out what it is about a song that can make me cry. I know there are some that I literally can't sing through without tearing up and it must be something to do with the specific harmonies or chord runs. Wind Beneath my Wings regularly does it for me before I've finished the 1st verse. I Only Want to Say (from JC Superstar) does it before the intro is finished, especially if Ted Neeley is singing. There's tiny passages midway through Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers and Beethoven's 6th Symphony which are just so emotionally charged I get the prickle behind my eyes when I know the music is building up to them and Albinoni's Adagio which someone mentioned earlier was one I never used to be able to listen to right through without welling up. ....then again I'm sure girly's tend to cry a bit more easily anyway - I cried uncontrollably after reading the trial transcript of King Charles the 1st for goodness sake. What was that all about???? Plus the Bjork movie Dancer in the Dark sent me a bit weepy for a few days, so much so that my husband suggested I don't watch art films any more as they seem to send me a bit weird, lol!
  4. Weeknd singing style sounds a lot like early 80's Michael Jackson Surely he meant it as a tribute to Jackson? The clothes are suggestive of him & the vocals. Plus the set is very reminiscent of the Speed Demon video to me. Love the vibe to it
  5. Love everything about the song. The melodious guitar riffs..the excellent vocals and most importantly the way the song is structured. I also like the way the song ends with the guitar riffs. Not too sure about the drummer in the video though haha but he s the most animated one. Good answer. Haha re drummer, I couldn't take my eyes of his 'tache
  6. Now that's 10 out of 10 ...and you know what I'm gonna ask you?...What makes it a 10 for you?
  7. Wow, had never realised Agnetha had a career outside of ABBAyes, and she worked with such writers as Holly Knight, Diane Warren, Russ Ballard, and did a duet with Peter Cetera Brilliant. Thanks for that
  8. Awww, Alphaville, love their music but the lyrics are too cheesy on this one and kill it for me. Maybe they should have sung it in German Here's an old classic, Yazoo's Only You. Comes to mind whenever I hear the word synthpop https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SdvZa46xb3M
  9. Wow, had never realised Agnetha had a career outside of ABBA
  10. Did you avoid Luton in the end? Or did you decide to give it another chance? i got back today and thank God I managed to avoid stinking Luton. Hahaha. I've only ever seen a bit of Luton - travelling from the train station to the airport. Not the prettiest part of England by any stretch of the imagination!
  11. Did you avoid Luton in the end? Or did you decide to give it another chance?
  12. Thanks for that. Probably the best example for this topic.I wanted to know what on earth possessed him to dance around like a peanut. That was the reason the video has received so much ridicule over the years, not the concept or set design. The dancing was truly horrendous! I did have sympathy for him though in the sense that surely it should have been the company that made the video that got the flak and suffered loss of business rather than him. He's a musician and did his job well. Shame though cos it's unlikely I'd be able to listen to that song now without seeing those awful moves. I honestly thought he was a different genre musician making fun of AOR when I saw it
  13. Bob Dylan was in "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" a western movie about the outlaw. He wrote the soundtrack for it too I think. Appears as 'Alias' Plus Bjork in Dancer in the Dark - now that is a good movie!
  14. Found this on youtube where he talks about it, is pretty interesting his views on music videos
  15. Sometimes the wrong video can break an entire career. See: Billy Squier, "Rock Me Tonite" O.M.G!!!! That is hilarious. The song isn't that bad, but that video was traumatic! Surely it was tongue in cheek?
  16. Then again, I was asking my husband today whether he'd ever consider doing a cover of a song rather than writing original tracks. I thought, if I was an artist, I'd be kind of flattered if another band thought my music was worth singing & recording (plus it'd give my material extra exposure too). He said yes at first and then said that it actually causes all sorts of headaches though because of copyrights and permissions, royalties etc etc. Shame, cos I reckon if bands did that more often it could be mutually beneficial (as long as it was hilighted it was a cover and clear recognition was given to the original band)
  17. Haha, but at least it turns out that it is the same song! (Which I still wouldn't be able to identify if I heard it again I don't think)
  18. And very helpful. My playlist is growing longer and longer and reinvigorated!!
  19. Hahaha yes i have quite a bit of music which i'm going through at the moment picking songs that i think are the perfect song for me. The common element i guess for me is just a really good catchy song with a good hook and melody. I love making playlists (mix tapes back in the day) and filling them with that sort of stuff,ya know stuff that sounds good in the car on a hot summers day with the top down I can get real boring about it haha but hey if i introduce someone to and artist they have never heard before then i've done my job ;-) Ah I'm definitely finding loads of new artists to add to my collection from this forum. It's one of the major plusses for me cos, although I loved the music on my ipod, I was feeling a bit like 'same old, same old' and I am a bit lazy at sifting through loads of dross to find gems
  20. Cheers AOR, will try that. Have got a feeling I've done it before though and I'll get a note someone has posted but if it's on a thread like the Song of the Day one, if I post a question about a particular song that someone has shared, there could have been loads of new posts since and the question can get drowned out and missed by the member it was directed at. Not sure if I'm making much sense here. Ah, I know ... I posted a comment specifically to you earlier about your perfect song choices. If lots of people have posted since, would you have noticed that I had asked it?
  21. Loving some of those drum rolls on We Cry Out. I wonder who does their videos?
  22. Just wondered; I know there is the 'quote' option (&multiquote) but sometimes that can make what I intend as a 'reply' to someone's comment or music choice into a long scrolling down the page exercise and it does mean that sometimes I won't bother responding. Now I know Facebook has been dissed in some threads here (&with good reason) but one feature it does have which is useful is the tagging one so you get a little notification if someone has responded specifically to one of your posts on a thread. Maybe it already exists on here and I've missed it (as I am a bit technologically challenged - still haven't figured out why sometimes my youtube links will show the image of the video and others it will just have the URL). But if it doesn't exist & it's an easy extra to add, do you think it's something members would find useful?
