  1. Thanks Spyne. I'll check em out (and then give you couple of links of ours too )
  2. oh yeah I'll give them a try. Watched Tower Heist the other day, love that one
  3. haven't watch it, but got a soft spot for some silly action movie and always think that a movie don't always have to have a moral ending right ? True, I shouldn't take it too seriously. It was fun action in its way just right for a lazy evening. just annoyed me you were meant to sympathise with the main characters and I was thinking of the poor security guards and members of the public they'd caused the deaths of during the movie who were obviously considered collateral damage
  4. Oooohhh am so gonna give them a listen Darkstone! Brothers in arms cover and Take on Me (I assume the Aha song) should be interesting!
  5. awww but it's nice to work the brain for a bit
  6. Like everyone here, I always thought it was good and noble to listen to full albums, but the world of MP3 definitely makes you sit there and acknowledge, why am I doing this? Why am I sitting through this shitty song, when I could be listening to an awesome song from this or another album? What's the point? Honestly, there is just no point in the world in listening to a bad song more than once, just for the sake of playing a full album. When there is so much good music out there, it is just wasted time. Ah I agree with you 100% re not bothering to waste time listening to crap, but don't you think sometimes there is really good music that you don't 'get' - or whatever - the 1st time you listen to it? Maybe it's a different style to what you're used to or it's not what you're expecting. Or maybe it's simply that you're not in the right mood for it just then? That's more what I was meaning. There's load of instances where new composers have done stuff and the majority have been saying 'that will never catch on; that's total naff' etc etc but now they are recognised as greats. You might be one of the lucky ones who recognise whether something is truly good or not pretty quickly though
  7. It's not easy. I find I have to know the drums so well that I don't have to think about it, and can focus on singing. I'm always amazed at how effortless Kelly Keagy makes it look.Didn't know you were a singer/drummer too. Have you posted any links to stuff you've done? (Apologies Spyne, not trying to hijack your post here)He has, but we all pissed ourselves so much we couldnt listen to it And here was I thinking what a lovely supportive bunch you all were, lolOh, I hoped you all had forgotten about that.OMG! I think i've found it! OH that is so funny I thought you were serious for a minute!
  8. Shame in a way but I agree they take up so much space that unless there's something extra special about them I'm tending to rip the tracks I want and then ditching the disc. Wouldn't want to do that with my favourites though as i still don't fully trust that I wouldn't 'lose' them all if I didn't have a hard copy There would always be a niche market for them though I reckon - like vinyls which are making something of a come back - as they have the added element of being an art form. I read somewhere that vinyls are becoming popular again, in part, down to the fact that it encourages the listener to actually listen to the whole album due to the effort involved in having to physically get up and move the arm on it if you want to skip a track. Maybe that would be a good thing and could kick start the album oriented rock/radio scene again? It is true that I don't devote time to albums as much as I used to as it's so easy just to not bother and skip a track as soon as I lose interest but when I think back, there are quite a few tracks that I hated when I first heard them but they ended up growing on me and becoming amongst my favourites.
  9. Crikey you're finding loads of them! I wanted to listen to all the ones I hadn't heard of that people posted to see which I preferred but I can't flipping keep up! Have enjoyed hearing some that were new to me
  10. I was surprised as I've heard quite a few people recently saying they don't have a cd player at home either. Must admit, I probably wouldn't use my player if it didn't have multiple trays so I could put several on the go at once on random. I tend to rip them to my ipod but even that is getting more difficult as the newer macs don't have a cd player on them

  13. Awww aren't you gonna say which you like best? But you didn't. Well spotted, hmmm probably Frankie GTH although Huey Lewis and the News puts a smile on my face. Jennifer Rush reminds me of my dad cos he used to play it over and over and sing along when he thought no one was listening
  14. That was pretty cool.Reminder me of an amazing cover by Dee Snider For me it 'finished' the song that I always thought kinda went nowhere... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlptWs2Kxgo Great cover and great video to go with it!
  15. Awww aren't you gonna say which you like best?
  16. The Power of Love - Huey Lewis and the News, Jennifer Rush, Frankie Goes to Hollywood If I remember rightly they all came out around the same time and at least 2 of them were high in the charts at the same time
  17. Made it clear for me and then extra contradictory responses were being added to the mix to muddy the waters again! Haha and now we have 2 topics in the hotlist on the same subject to wind up anyone who thinks it's a pointless discussion
  18. Heroes don't cry - Raw Silk & Scorpions - love both
  19. Hope you've had a great birthday
  20. Ah soooo really the 'Adult' part is the bit I should ignore and 'Album oriented ROCK' or ' Album oriented RADIO' would be the best descriptive interchangeable terms depending on whether I'm thinking about the style of the music itself or how the music is being promoted
  21. Oh, hadn't spotted that you were the singer/drummer (saw your post on another thread and was saying how difficult it must be to do both). My husband is drummer (and composer) with the melodic rock band Raw Silk but I can't imagine him managing the singing at the same time! It was impressive the track I heard of yours, great work
  22. Ah I just have thanks. It was a nice short thread and now it all makes sense
  23. Ahhh I like the original meaning for the term best (Album Oriented Radio) and that makes sense now cos i was listening to some bands classed as AOR, which I was always told meant Adult Oriented Rock, and thinking 'I can't hear or see anything particularly adult about them' - in the sense that they wouldn't be suitable for kids. I like that radios play multiple tracks from an album and don't stick to just the 'singles' that the promoters decide to push. It should mean that listeners get a better idea of whether it'd be worth buying or not. Plus it would encourage bands to produce 'killer not filler' albums I'd have thought which is better for everyone. I'd given up buying albums because of the number of times I'd done so based on one (or maybe 2) singles that I'd heard played only to find the rest of the tracks were nowhere near as good.
