  1. Those song titles don't give much hope of a return to the debut sound and vibe. Hope they manage to pull something out coz in my eyes they need to hit a home run.
  2. I'm definitely keen to hear the new tracks but 4 years to come up with this? Hmm, no wonder aldrich left.
  3. Agree with Jez but it's also not like he's going to better the songwriting anytime soon.
  4. Agree with nightrain, something is off in thus one even though there are highlights throughout thus release. The Japanese release also has another cover, this time not giorgio moreover but wasn't wild child. They also had another bonus on the steel album called stay black. Awesome track with the original vocalist.
  5. Neil Blomkamp alien stuff: http://io9.com/neill-blomkamps-secret-alien-movie-looks-so-good-were-f-1677082116
  6. Hey Gibbo, agreed cabal is better than the movie, but when is a book not? Alien 3,bit of a disjointed mess. Did you see Neil Blomkamp's pic ideas for a new Alien film from a few months back? Looks like the studio also like it and announced last week he'll be making a sequel.
  7. Hey Kouros, some great releases there that just didn't make it into my list; Obsession Stormwitch Agent Steel Sword Cacophony Talon Never heard of S.A.S but will check them out.
  8. I didn't say he was giving up on film making, just the sequel when the timing would have been right, around 2010 or so.
  9. Wow, look people are posting about music on a music forum. Aaaaaarrgghhhhh we better kill the threads! I'm all for more topics, more threads, more best ofs, modern rock.....whatever. Keep the discussions going!
  10. I can't bring myself to rate CDs, especially ones I've lived with for so long. I've broken them up into 2 groups - Essential & Awesome. Listed in no particular order.... ESSENTIAL: Def Leppard - Hysteria - Huge, awesome…probably too huge and awesome as there were times I couldn't listen to this as it was played everywhere. Credit where credit is due this is a great album but I do prefer Pyromania a little more. Dokken - Back for the Attack - Dokken have a great discog in the 80s. I both love and loathe this CD as it's very samey. I even got rid of it a few times but never again. Massive riffage throughout and one of those CDs that blurs the lines of hard rock and metal. Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction - Brother bought it coz of Sweet Child but threw it my way a week later. Two years later it was his favourite CD. A real grower that took a long time to take off. Classic. Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King - The band at their metal best. Massive riffage, soaring vocals and a production that sounds like it was recorded in an old hall. Suites the music perfectly! White Lion - Pride - Let down a little by the production but what a fkn album. Heavy, lots of guitars, melodic. Some crazy great stuff on here and quite varied too! Whitesnake - 1987 - Pure class. Sykes and Coverdale make an amazing team. Both at their peak with something to prove. Probably seeing a pattern here….i like my hard rock on the heavier side. I think this is what turned me into a collector of music after having owned it for years on tape and LP I grabbed the CD when I saw it cheap and heard two additional songs. Absolutely classic! Awesome: Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation - A bit generic but there's no denying some awesome grooves on this e.g. Dude, Ragdoll etc. Don't play it much these days. Bonfire - Fire Works - Start hitting their straps and the precursor to their best album Point Blank. Dio - Dream Evil - Some classic tracks, big riffs and one of the best metal vocalists. Great White - Once Bitten - Worth it for the title track alone. Not overly bluesy like Twice Shy but also not heavy as the earlier stuff. Grim Reaper - Rock You to Hell - Love this band, big vocals and riffs. All a little bit silly but it's fun. High Tension - Masters Of Madness - I like me some German metal but not with the crappy German singers like Udo. Good band! Icon - An Even More Perfect Union - Not as good as the previous 2 and a band in transition after being dropped and some lineup changes. Fkn awesome for an indie! Leatherwolf - Leatherwolf (1987) - Love this band. Would hit their peak with the next album Street Ready! Loudness - Hurricane Eyes - Enjoy Japanese bands. Love the speed, energy and melody. Very good album with Soldier of Fortune being better IMO. John Norum - Total Control - Avoided this album for a long time until Europe stopped making good music. What a solo CD!!! Check it out as it's not your ordinary guitarists solo CD! Razormaid - First Cutt - One of those hard to find releases that's actually worthwhile. Blurs the line between hard rock and metal. Guitars are George Lynch inspired. Shok Paris - Steel and Starlight - Savatage like band. When US Power Metal is good it can be great! Better than the very good follow up Concrete Killers. Treat - Dreamhunter - Get everything by this band is you like catchy hard rock. Swedes do it best! Warlock - Triumph And Agony - Blistering guitars, catchy songs and melodies. Completely over the top as only the Germans can do it but this time it works. Helloween - Keeper of the Seven Keys Part I - There's no denying the class that's all over this. I came to love it during the 90s as I was stuck in the hard rock in the 80s. Malice - License To Kill - Top notch for those that enjoy Vicious Rumours etc. Vicious Rumors - Digital Dictator - This is my favourite style of US power metal and a great time for these type of releases. Next album S/T was excellent also. Not sure if this is a 87 or 88 release. ESP - The Future Is Now - US styled power metal with twin leads. Recently reissued on CD (last year I think) - prior to that was only available on very limited vinyl. My joint top 3 would be Whitesnake, White Lion and Savatage.
  11. Nightbreed and Zombieland are classics. I've only seen the original Nightbreed cut - took my girlfriend to see it when I was 16 lol. Zombieland is great. There is talk of a TV series. The director is quite outspoken against piracy and blames no sequel due to illegal downloading.
  12. Love Bormann, not sure about this tho. Did they seriously get the band together for a video shoot and show like 3 seconds of them in that clip?
  13. This is actually better than I though it was going to be. Debut was underwhelming.
  14. Fans of mid-late 80s metal bands like Fifth Angel, Crimson Glory etc. will get a dig out of this. It's about to be released by No Remorse Records this coming April. Check it out if you dig high pitched vocals, screaming guitars etc. Interesting to hear what the quality will be like on the reissue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmOzjT6HChE
  15. What about releases that were only available on tape back in the day etc? Or LP etc? I agree, I personally prefer the originals but there is some stuff that was never really available unless you went to a gig in the 80s eg. ESP, Apollo Ra.
  16. Lol, fkn autocorrect. No interest in modern.....see I never type it which is why it auto corrected, correctly I guess to melodic.
  17. I have no interest in melodic rock but whatever brings in more users. I'm a yes.
  18. Bleed & Scream isn't trying too hard to be anything except an awesome collection of songs!
  19. Yep, that eclipse is now available at aorheaven I think, was listed in their latest newsletter.
  20. Massively overrated band imo. Spent so much money importing their stuff when good music was hard to find. Not sure what the lesson here is but to those that enjoy them.... Rock on!
  21. I can't wait to do this year but so far Gibbo is on the right track with Vain, The Cult, WASP, D.A.D, Black Sabbath etc.
  22. I'll give anything with urban breed a go!
