  1. I own every one of their releases, even their EPs all in Japanese release but I think Bang is the last album I'll be buying. Sorry guys, new guy is OK but Steve must have added a heap to the songwriting as well as his stellar vocals. That said this is a pretty weak set list as well. Shame.
  2. I keep forgetting how young they are. Great riff, see now I have to get this after I convinced myself not to! Ffs.
  3. I don't mind it but the band need to get a new singer! In all fairness it still sounds like him, sort of, but he doesn't sound good.
  4. Would have been awesome, along the lines of Motley releasing an album after the greatest hits in the style of Primal Scream.
  5. In keeping with the Japanese theme here's a couple more for Geoff to hate. Seikima II is one of my all time favorite bands and IMO have 20 or so killer tracks in their arsenal. This is one of them performed live. Be sure to stick to the end as it's in 4 movements and the singer sings on his head during the last movement (skip to just before 6 mins if you can't get through the talking of the 3rd movement). The Demonic Symphony Suite Opus 666: https://youtu.be/SCUYrcWLHLA And to prove Geoff is wrong they released a greatest hits all re-recorded in English. It was terrible! The point here is that you get something different from artists from different cultures. Another example is Galneryus. A Japanese metal band. In this track they fuse the speed of DragonForce with German power metal hymns but delivered in a completely original way. Tons of hooks, technicality, melody and smokin' hot coolness! 6. Been trying to get into the We Are Harlot CD. Like the singer, great sound and production and generally a really cool vibe throughout. Still something is missing as it hasn't clicked yet, except for the fkn awesome Japanese bonus track called Find A Way. Can't find it on YouTube or anywhere so can't post a link. Am I crazy or is this easily the best song on the CD? Anyone else heard it?
  7. As annoying as these epks are and some distracting imagery lots of these snippets sound very good.
  8. The great/funny thing about a lot of Japanese bands is that their choruses are in English. I don't get it. Wouldn't the majority of their fan base suddenly be lost for those twenty or so seconds? Nope, heaps of non-english speaking countries make the effort to learn English. Lucky for those that like their music only sung in English because our genre is propped up and probably only relevant due to the European bands.
  9. There is a massive gulf between what nightwish with tarja did and these types of bands, including the current nightwish output.
  10. Great find JamesEagle, am going to be getting me some Valonkantajat asap!
  11. Here you go, one of the best bands ever... X Japan. There's a little English in here so maybe this is the perfect starting point Geoff? Weekend:
  12. Agreed symbol was half a great album. Never bothered with anything else either.
  13. Yep, there was an Aussie band on the Albert label who were called this and had a pretty good single called the kids are wired.
  14. Geoff, am guessing the missus doesn't lure you into bed with sexy French musings...coz that's just another language that means nothing to you? Do u tell her its stupid and pointless? Here's another pointless track: https://youtu.be/5Yy6KxBB14E
  15. OK, let's simplify a little. This was the best song from that album and one of the poodles best imo. Great build, pre chorus, chorus etc. My kids are dancing to this now. https://youtu.be/MxUhHQKZRGs
  16. Welcome home where your obscure list is just as well known as the multi platinum sellers!
  17. Agree on hardcore superstar. I really dig cmon take on me but struggle getting through anything else or even the best of. Looks like your flying through your ratings.
  18. The first half of the first wolf creeknis amazing. Its actually quite realistic. This sequel is garbage.
  19. Maybe its just me but along with Coverdale's inability to take criticism we now have another old rocker who can't be humble. They should both be thankful there's people out there that still care about their music! https://youtu.be/_B8Z7EiyKms
  20. Exactly what nightrain said. You would think the older you become the more humble.
  21. Those guild of ages releases were never good, even at the time. They were a big letdown after the cita releases. Still have them hoping they will age but the best one is the one that came with the cita live disc.
  22. Here's some excerpts from David's interview in Classic Rock mag. Hmmmm, he sounds quite defensive to me. Agreed he can do whatever he wants, and he's probably got a faster car than us, and fucked more chicks....better get back to my bedroom and put on some Jorne Lande who can still sound like classic DC! "Asked by U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine if he has seen the "extreme reaction" the new version of "Stormbringer" received after it was posted on YouTube, Coverdale responded: "Yeah, of course. But have you seen the orders we have for this record? I've never made music for the haters. If somebody develops a cure for cancer, there will still be haters. I've no space in my life for haters or negaters. They're not gonna buy my record. They won't buy a ticket. Why the fuck should I give a fuck? They're probably sitting at home, running their WiFi off their mother's account. I owe those people nothing. Such opinions mean nothing to me. I'm talking to you from a fucking very, very beautiful residential studio. I have a home overlooking Lake Tahoe. I'm sixty-three years old, booking a world tour, the tickets are flying out the door The odds are not in these people's favor. They are wasting their hate." He continued: "I won't release something unless I believe in it. I've come to a time in my life, after a very successful career, where I will do exactly what I like. Online the other day some clown wrote: 'Coverdale's well must have run dry.' Well, what you have done in your life? Over forty years I've sold more than a hundred million records and written countless fucking rock 'n' roll anthems. How fucking dare you criticize me, dude? Fuck off to your bedroom."
  23. I like it, but then I really dig the whole vibe of the album.
