  1. If you're looking for some big, loud, rip-snortin' southern-fried metal, look no further than this latest album from Texas Hippie Coalition. To read my full review of "Peacemaker," head on over to Hardrock Haven by clicking the link below: http://hardrockhaven.net/online/2012/12/texas-hippie-coalition-peacemaker-cd-review/ If you enjoy bands like Hellyeah, you've gotta give these guys a listen.
  2. Generally? So not always. Yes, "generally." My therapist has advised me to leave it at that...
  3. Generally speaking I eat my steak with my teeth. Just sayin'.
  4. I agree, it was a rather difficult CD to rate/review. In the end, my "it's OK but nothing special" conclusion is the one I felt was most accurate. I also agree that if you have to do covers, her approach was the way to go. And yeah, the production isn't terrible, but I do feel it lacks that big, slick, bombastic engineering evidenced on her first 2 albums. I don't hate the album--once I turned in the review, I still kept half the songs on my iPod--but I do think it pales in comparison to her original works and just barely, by the thinnest of margins, manages to be worth your time.
  5. Rubbing salt on your hands and washing them with water accomplishes the same thing.
  6. Dang, that's pretty good. Then again, I expect nothing but high quality from Hardcore Superstar.
  7. It's official--Issa has made the worst album of her short career, but it's still a decent enough slab of AOR/melodic rock songs. To read my full review of "Can't Stop" over at Hardrock Haven, click the link below: http://hardrockhaven...stop-cd-review/ Bottom line, it's not something you can't stop listening to, but it's nothing you'll feel the need to turn off either.
  8. Haven't listened to this in a minute. I hadn't either. I was scanning my shelves for something I hadn't listened to in ages and this popped out at me. Now it's been stuck in my stereo for a week. Can't tell you how many times I've hit the Repeat button for "House of Cain"...great song!
  9. Black Veil Brides: "Set the World on Fire" (on the iPod) Balance of Power: "Perfect Balance" (in the house) Guns N' Roses: "Chinese Democracy" (in the truck)
  10. "Unbroken" ~ Black Veil Brides Off "The Avengers" soundtrack. I didn't even know this song existed until today, but now I can't stop playing it...
  11. I don't love COC, but I don't hate 'em either, but I gotta ask...are you insinuating that "catchy" and "kickass" are mutually exclusive terms? Like, oxymoronic or something?
  12. Haven't heard the rest of the album, but "The One That You Hated" is really good. Curious to see how the rest of the tunes stack up.
  13. Based on that song, I would definitely check out the rest of the album.
  14. Kane Roberts: "Unsung Radio" (2 disc set feat. Phoenix Down album plus a bunch of unreleased bonus tracks)
  15. Hey, now, that ain't too shabby! I really like their driving-yet-melodic style. Lookin' forward to hearing the rest of the EP.
  16. Thanx man. I haven't seen the original "Silent Night, Deadly Night" in years but I'm interested in checkin' out the remake... and I understand that the first two films are about to be re-released on a single DVD to capitalize on the remake, so I may be checking them out again soon too. Take my word for it, you never, EVER want to watch "Silent Night, Deadly Night 2." It basically reuses nearly an hour's worth of footage from the first film. Yes, you read that right--"Silent Night, Deadly Night 2" is basically a flashback of the first movie. I couldn't believe my eyes when I rented it, way back in my college days. Easily one of the worst sequels in horror movie history.
  17. "Silent Night, Deadly Knight" is a classic in my book. Love the sledding decapitation scene. This remake was already on my radar...I will most definitely be checking it out. By the way, loved the line "Something shocking in their stockings" from your Hub. Nicely done!!
  18. Frontwoman Lacey Sturm has flown the coop, but how does her final album with the band stack up? Check out my review of Flyleaf: "New Horizons" over at Hardrock Haven to find out. Here's the link: http://hardrockhaven.net/online/2012/11/flyleaf-new-horizons-cd-review/ Probably their catchiest, most commercial effort to date, without losing that signature Flyleaf feel.
  19. Just listened to the samples for this over on iTunes and there's not a single song I feel the need to own, which is a first for me with a Kid Rock album.
  20. Marx has an incredible AOR voice. Not the biggest fan of (most of) his music, but his voice is great. Hadn't heard anything off this new album...is the rest of it as good as this song?
  21. You know a song is good when not even Snoop Dogg's presence can ruin it...
  22. Latest acquisitions... Disciple: "O God Save Us All" (loving this...might be my album of the year) Flyleaf: "New Horizons" (their best album yet) My Heart To Fear: "Lost Between Brilliance and Insanity" (one of the better new metalcore bands I've heard in awhile) Texas Hippie Coalition: "Peacemaker" (really good southern-fried metal in the vein of Hellyeah)
  23. Latest acquisitions... Savages The Bourne Supremacy Red Hill Silent Hill
