  1. It's been a while... So, I dug up my old iPod, and managed to recover my music from it. The iPod is really buggy. It constantly freezes, and, when it does work, it takes a few minutes before it plays a song. But, thankfully!, I managed to save a lot of music I haven't heard in years. There is one mixtape in particular my friend gave me. For the longest time it was completely untitled. My friend gave it to me at the beginning of my Hard rock/metal journey. I was able to figure some of the tracks then, and now have all but one, thanks to Soundhound. I just can't get this last song. Soundhound says it's Deep Purple, but it most definitely is not. I tried Googling lyrics to no avail, I even guessed possible song titles on the main site, cross-referencing via YouTube. No luck. So I'm gonna do my best to describe the song you lot, and I have no doubt you'll know it. I have a feeling it isn't very obscure--I just have a lot to learn still. The voice is so bloody familiar, too! I opens with: Lead vox: "You say you want it" Backing vox: "You say you want it" Then gang vox: "WELL COME AND GET IT, RIGHT NOW!" Intro instrumental. First verse goes something like this: "Walking down the streets at night, I know I (can't come in? - I think). This fire burning deep inside. This weakness now begins." Backing vox: "I don't feel like waiting." Lead vox: "Ooh, I'd like to set you free." Backing vox: "I'm anticipating" Lead vox: "Ooh, the things you do to me." Chorus: "You say you want it. You need a lover right now. (You gonna need it? - I think). Ooh, I'll show you how, baby." Then into second verse and the rest of the song. Like I said, I'm sure this won't be a problem for most of you. Thanks a lot. Peace Nolan
  2. Yeah, there definitely are, but I like that novel and the show differ. I like not knowing what will happen next.
  3. Yeah, my brother felt the same way, but I actually think the men would get more out of this than the women. It might be a little too crude for most women. Probably the best comedy of the year. It's good to know you're educating your boy in the classics.
  4. Not surprised as they seem to hype up so many new shows and then they get the axe just as you're getting to know the characters. I really like the new Prime Suspect on NBC and word is ratings are horrible so will probably be going away soon. ABC did the same thing to me last year with Detroit 187. And FX did the same things with Terriers and Lights Out. The premier had 9.2 million viewers, the second episode dropped to 8.7, the third dropped to 7, but the fourth jumped back up to 8.3 million. That's not bad at all, especially when you consider it's on a Monday night and has to compete with Castle and Hawaii Five-0, among others. It's also a new show and it's still finding its fanbase.
  5. I love it, but I do agree with you. I would love to see more of the future world. I'm a sucker for that post-apocalyptic type stuff.
  6. I need to revisit this one. I got it along with a ton of other stuff, so it kinda got swept aside. I'm starting to get caught up--no I'm not.
  7. Nope, but now I'm interested, too!!
  8. Attack the Block A Brittish action comedy about a little street gang in South London that have to defend themselves against alien invaders. Incredible cinematography. Very quotable lines. And a very cool alien design. And Nick Frost plays a roll as a pothead and a grower. Being set in South London, their are a lot of thick accents and slang that might be hard for many to follow, but I highly recommend this to anyone regardless of their comprehension. It's a must watch, and one I'll have to buy--and I rarely buy movies. Batman: Year One Damn, DC is stepping it up with their animated films. This is amazing. Maybe not for the little ones, but definitely for any Batman fan. Or even for those that don't follow Batman, like me. Master of Disguise This movie is stupid. I'm not even gonna try to argue against that fact. But it's Dana Carvey doing what he does best. This is on Netflix, but I'd recommend renting a physical copy, because their are a shit-tonne of deleted scenes that are probably better than the rest of the film. Real Steel Surprisingly good. A couple Rockem Sockem Robots references, some cool robot ass-kickery, and the child actor actually does a good job.
  9. That was "How Many Say I" and it was horrendous.
  10. I work with my dad, so I'm always faced with the challenge of creating a playlist for work that satisfies all parties. It pleases me that he's increasingly enjoying more of the heavy-esque music I listen to.
  11. Gary definitely brought a different element to the group. I guess it helps that I don't really care much for Van Halen, so his presence is the only thing that brings me back to it. Most of the tracks are great, in my opinion, but I can't stand "How Many Say I."
  12. Heh, you probably go to KIX shows more frequently than I go to church on Sundays!! This question is primarily directed to LV KIX, but I'll appreciate an answer from anyone. I'm only posting this as a topic, because I can't seem to PM him. I'm assuming his inbox is full. I was just wondering, if it's not too much of a hassle, if you could give me a typical setlist that the boys would put on any given night. I'd like to make a CD for my brothers and my friend so they can aquaint themselves with the songs. That way I won't be the only one in the group losing their shit when they perform in February. If you haven't the time, I understand. Thanks all the same. Peace Nolan
  13. Heh, my dad loves Skies of Mongolia, which is a fact I take great pride in. It is a fantastic song, but I'll still take We Own the Night over it. But, like you said, Coup De Grace was a phenomenal album.
  14. Van Halen III is actually my favourite Van Halen album (Heh, queue the scoffers). I just love Gary Cherone!! On topic: I still haven't listened to this, but I'm very excited to. I love the debut.
  15. I still consider myself a rookie, so I usually just read and learn. I don't think I have a lot of knowledge to share. Music-wise.
  16. If I may, I'd like to add a few of that get me going: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cjNqTXynHPw I'll admit the lyrics are weird, but it's just so massive!! Also, this video could also find a home at the Cheesiest Musiv Video thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBagpm35BIg Probably one of my all-time favourite songs. I throw this on and I start grinning like a twelve year old boy in a sex shop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGfAu7Mj_Bc Such bombastic drums, and those lyrics are so agressive. I think most guys can identify with this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F9WoQDiVElo My favourite song of 2010.
  17. I'm so ashamed, I'm not even worthy to ask you to refrain from throwing stones. I just finished my first listen of "Mood Swings." I can't recall how many times I've seen the numerous accolades from the lot of you and many others with regards to this album, yet I never picked it up until now. So, here I am giving it a listen, not at all prepared, because I've only heard "Harem Scarem," "Weight of the World," "Human Nature," "Hope," and the "MelodicRock EP," and then 'If There Was A Time' comes on and a wave of various emotions crashes over me. My previous exposure to this track was the acoustic version from the aforementioned "MelodicRock EP." In no way was I ready for an onslaught of fierce guitars and soaring vocals. Hallelujah! Holy shit!
  18. The DVD's to get are the 2 disc "re-release". This release has the "new" version of the original trilogy and the original as well. Just found them, actually. $35! What a steal. I haven't watched them in years, and now I'm excited all over again!
  19. Spent the weekend on the island (Vancouver Island) and visited a couple music shops. I exercised great restriction, but still picked up a few titles: Babylon A.D. - Nothing Sacred Def Leppard - Hysteria Great White - Hooked Harem Scarem - Mood Swings Glenn Hughes - First Underground Nuclear Kitchen Killer Dwarfs - Dirty Weapons Scorpions - Humanity-Hour 1 Slaughter - The Wild Life A good weekend, and now a week of good music.
  20. I think I'd rather track down the original versions on DVD.
