Hello & Welcome SessionWulf, nice to meet you...only collectin 4 years...better late than never
-
What was your gateway band/album?
lettard replied to SunsetHoliday's topic in General Music Discussion
It was around 1980 and One of my older sisters had Def Leppard On Through The Night amongst her Abba, The Supremes and stuff...that stuck with me so she gave it to me partly because I had it all of time and partly because she wasnt too keen... shortly after I begged my Mum to buy me Back In Black and that was that..hooked on that genre...have been ever since but the stadium rock(hair metal whatever) from the mid to late 80's...wow...that has been my go to stuff( I was that kid in school with the long hair that was different from my friends )...my favourite style if you like...but them classic rock albums are still timeless, and The Friday Night Rock Show on Radio One with the late great Tommy Vance plus Kerrang magazine(before it was shit) opened me up to so many new acts. I must say though that over the years I have matured and will give pretty much any music a go and give credit were its due...even if not my favourite style -
Yeah maybe not...but perhaps he could tweak it in the studio production so's to sound like he did? I mean its not like theyre gonna tour the world on the back of the release...but to each their own,its his decision at the end of the day and I respect that.

Yeah i'd be happy if you were wrong also...but Promise Land did not do it for me at all...thus my lack of enthusiasm.
-
Soundwise not the greatest...stylewise though it hits that nostalgic nerve
-

Did he ever release the solo album that was touted a few years back...think it was with Sammy at Retrospect?

Got this on cd a few days ago..its a really good disc and shows what might have been with them...given the chance Must say I had a giggle at the Big Ole Long Red Hot Rod track classic 80's stuff
-
Yeah I was never a fan but this one has made me take notice more of them.
-
Yeah they are good at what they do...but as they would say at school...could do better lol could be the difference in them being a band and A BAND if you know what I mean?
-
Brilliant band...picked up the Fuel For Your Soul & Trouble remaster from Bad Reputation recently to upgrade from my old cd and it sounds great...check out the Red White & Blues -Shine cd its Matti produced and vocals/Bass with Myke on guitar...not as good as Jagged Edge but still worth checking out if anyone hasn't yet.
