We found Bridge to Grace after someone posted in the Modern Music to Check Out thread a couple of years ago. They finally got around to releasing a proper CD with some new tracks. I liked the two I mentioned. The rest didn't do anything for me.

My favorite cover, complete with one of my favorite guitar solos. Very different from Fleetwood Mac's original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzazgG-y7uM My 2nd favorite would have to be Mitch Ryder's cover of Prince's "When You Were Mine". Also very different from the original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FoUoX4Rd7iE

If this one doesn't work... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySS-bnSfl0M ...then try here. It's a decent CD, a bit on the mellow side, kind of like Daughtry. I think "Candy' is the best track along with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8Qbg90ay2Y

None of them better than "Fractured Love", in my opinion. My favorite Leppard song.

I think we can agree on that much.

I supported Rod Black's (Jet Black Stare) Pledge campaign last year only to receive a CD that was burned from low-bitrate, shitty-sounding mp3s. He later re-encoded a 128kpbs mp3 to a higher bitrate and is currently selling it on Amazon and iTunes. It also sounds awful, which sucks because the songs are actually pretty good. Even after I called him out on it and sent him proof of his mistake, he still thinks it was mastered properly and sounds great.

Great tune from The (London) Quireboys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK0PnmdS7Ns

It's Season 4, Episode 3, "In the Skin of a Lion". I just checked a cap of the original airing of that episode and it does in fact have "Rock Candy" playing in the background of that scene. http://k001.kiwi6.com/hotlink/ynruztveot/FNL_music_orig.mp3 The original music was replaced on the DVD release.
-
I gave that a try last night, but websites like this one list the song for that scene as "Rock Candy" by Montrose. I think this may be a case of original music being replaced on the DVD release so they can avoid paying royalties for it. I didn't hear Rock Candy or any of those other songs in the episode.

You guys remember that Pink Floyd's "The Wall" came out in '79, right?
-
1. April Wine - Frigate 2. Great White - Sail Away 3. Blackhawk - Blackhawk (Country) 4. Eagles - Hell Freezes Over 5. Hootie & The Blowfish - Cracked Rear View
-
Can anyone identify this tune from an episode of Friday Night Lights? The Shazam and SoundHound apps didn't help and there's not enough here for a lyric search. http://k001.kiwi6.com/hotlink/blcivwr1xf/FNL_music.mp3

Teetering the line between Funk\Hi-Tech\and Hard Rock
Grey replied to Leykis101's topic in AOR and Hard Rock
Yeah, I had a feeling you'd mention Thompson. No argument with anything you're saying regarding the Power Station (that debut CD is one of my all-time favorites). I was just pointing out that Robert Palmer is no stranger to the genre either. -

You didn't have to be black. A couple of my favorites from the '80s: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMn6txxD_O0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPT95All8eI -
I use this too. Highly recommended if you can spare the $$$. http://www.collectorz.com/music/

I agree with the Lansdowne suggestion. That's a great album. I'd also recommend these if you like that type of music: Angels Fall - Yesterday's Gone Art of Dying - Vices and Virtues DoryDrive - Calling on Angels Emphatic - Another Life, Damage Pistol Day Parade - Burn State of Shock - Rock 'n Roll Romance Throwing Gravity - It's Not the End
-
I'm surprised to see my top pick hasn't made anyone's list. 1. RTZ - Return to Zero 2. Great White - Hooked 3. Mr. Big - Lean Into It 4. XYZ - Hungry 5. Tyketto - Don't Come Easy
-
Only the guitarist and bass player remain in the band. I just hope the new stuff sounds as good.
-
This is the best album I've heard in a long time. It's hard to believe any record company would sit on this for 3 years. It's a shame this wasn't released while the band was still together.

Stuff you didn't find out about bands until much later
Grey replied to Chisel Chin's topic in General Music Discussion
I'd always known that Jack Russell from Great White spend time in prison before joining the band (he wrote a song about it and the liner notes from their '84 LP has a photocopy of his parole report). But it wasn't until recently that I learned why. He shot the maid during a botched home invasion and robbery. -
Am I the only one who didn't care for this style? I preferred my '80s rock from guys who had more of a vocal range. Sure, I liked bands like Motley Crue, Slaughter and Steelheart and the vocals were fine on the heavier tracks. But I cringe listening to songs like "Without You", "Fly to the Angels" or "Never Let You Go". Those guys had no business singing ballads.
