  1. I agree with Savatage, Van Halen and Bad Company. I'll add... AC/DC Genesis Fleetwood Mac Shakra (Mark Fox)
  2. It's worth noting that the original masters weren't saved after they were pressed to vinyl. The 1999 CD is a vinyl-to-CD transfer that the band put together for charity. It's been filtered a bit. It doesn't sound great but I've heard worse. If you're mp3s sound really bad, maybe you found bad vinyl rip from somebody else. If you could post one, I could compare it to what I got.
  3. Headly - The Show Must Go Shakra - Everest Unruly Child - Waiting for the Sun
  4. I lived in the Detroit area in the '80s, and as a local band they got plenty of airplay. This one was probably their most popular (and my favorite): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx8CTVp5JvU
  5. Speaking of Ratt, I still hear them singing, "I knew right from the beginning that you would not win it". It was long after the song came out that I discovered the actual line. In Billy Idol's "Blue Highway", I thought "Wait for love to crash on my highway" was "Wave hello to Christ on my highway." I used to think Nickelback was singing "Are we having fun yet? Nyet, nyet, no, no".
  6. The differences in dosages concerns me a bit. I'm thinking of trying the lozenges to get the right amount of nicotine and a nicotine-free e-cig if I can find one. I told myself I quit at 40 too, but 5 years later I still haven't. At this age I'm starting to think about things like lung cancer and other risks. This will probably be the year I do it.
  7. 1. Sherbs - The Skill 2. The Rockets - No Ballads 3. Bob Seger - Against the Wind
  8. I've given some serious thought to trying those. But there seems to be so many types and options available with them. I wouldn't know where to start. You've been a smoker for as long I have. Is it an easy switch to make?
  9. It's a 3-song EP from 2012 I only just discovered. The other two tracks are good too. Oh dear, so they're broken up now I assume? Based on what I've read on their Facebook page, it looks like they're done.

  11. As a smoker, I'm not at all offended by this. I'm aware my bad habit can be annoying to others. It's why I never smoke anywhere near other people. At home, I smoke only out on my deck. I have no neighbors, so no chance of bothering anyone there. And I smoke in my car. But when in my car, I won't smoke if people are next to me in traffic and I never have one lit while in a drive-through. Oh, and I always use an ashtray. One of my biggest pet peeves is people who toss their cigarette butts on the ground or out of their car windows. Especially annoying are the morons who do that while driving through the forest.
  12. This may sound weird, but I'm really irritated by hard rock and metal bands that fade out their songs at the end. Music like that needs a big finish. Take classics like AC/DC's "Back in Black" or Metallica's "Enter Sandman", for example. Why the hell couldn't they finish them? I mean, they still had to come up with an ending to play it live. Do the same thing in the studio. That type of thing is ok for Pop and Dance tracks since it makes it easy for a DJ to crossfade from one track to the next. But not for hard rock or metal. The ones that really mess with my head are the ones that fade out and end on a note at the same time like Sammy Hagar's "Can't Get Loose" or Bad Company's "Burnin' Up".
  13. I bought Dynamite From Nighmareland only for "Brother's Eyes" and was disappointed because the rest of the tracks sounded like filler.
  14. If this sounds a bit like Skillet, I'm sure it's because the EP was produced by their guitarist, Ben Kasica. Above Only - Goodbye https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZCKK020KBA
  15. All good. I'd have to add these to that list: In the Middle Heaven Wait For Me Out of My Head
  16. Second Chance, Not Meant to Be and My Little Secret were already in my collection. I finally got around to listening to everything else on the list I hadn't heard (except 7th Heaven, couldn't find it) and really like Dive's Tonight and Stanfour's Desperate. Good suggestions.
  17. This one's really good. I'd never heard of the song, or even the band. I still have to check out the rest of the lists. Lots to listen to here.
  18. One of my favourite songs of 2015 so far. Absolutely love it. Shame the rest of the EP is pretty much throwaway modern rock / nu-metal. Agreed on both points. Shame, since their last CD was good.
  19. I love Modern Rock ballads. Anyone else?. Anyone got any good non-mainstream ones they like? I'm pretty much familiar with everything from bands like Nickelback, Hinder and Daughtry. Here's a few random favorites from recent years: Shallow Side - Crazy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srSkou3Hj6M Falter - Burdens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pb97Q6jjP8 Art of Dying - Everything https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKeTzuKQCrQ
  20. Great White - Once Bitten Twice Shy. It's far from their best song and it's not even their own song. It's overplayed and I'm tired of hearing it
  21. A few more than haven't been mentioned: Little Caesar - S/T Kingdom Come- S/T Jackyl- S/T Slaughter - Stick it to Ya
  22. One clear winner for me: Molly Hatchet - The Deed is Done
  23. That would be weird. At the moment they have brilliant lyrics and are thus a brilliant band. It'd be weird if they just had boring "good" lyrics and were just another hard rock band. Ha yeah I knew that would be an unpopular statement, but for me it's true...I can't get past the lyrics on their albums. I thought I was alone around here with that opinion. I love the music but the lyrics make me cringe. It turns them from a legit rock band into a woman-repelling novelty.
  24. At one point, Molly Hatchet had zero original members. Dave Hlubek has since returned, but it's still not the same band to me. I don't even want to talk about Great White.
  25. I like Hevisaurus. I probably wouldn't listen to them if I could understand the lyrics since they're aimed at children.
