  1. That is by far his best effort and a total brilliant slab of AOR. Love it.
  2. Not being argumentitive, but Genius this certainly isn't mate! I've also seen 'Feel The Steel' described as a 'Classic' aswell. People need to calm down a little I think. Actually its pretty damned killer and everytime I listen to it, it gets better. Some of those solos are pretty special as well. One of the only albums Ive heard this year, when I sing along joyfully to every chorus. Isnt that pretty much what its all about. I sure as hell dont sing along to Dream Theater. LOL.
  3. Wow, big mistake mate....this is pretty killer to these ears. Very Shinedown.
  4. nice.......that's pretty much my line up for the day!
  5. Ho hum.......as I said earlier in this thread I got the original 8 tracks from itunes.....I know some of you guys insist on the physical copy, but 99% of my listening is on my ipod so I dont mind. In any case you need the 2 extra tracks 'Vegas' and 'High Life' as both are excellent...you find these 2 on the net. Cheers
  6. Asian Hooker - Steel Panther Fast becoming my fav song of the year......pure f genius.
  7. I burnt this for my bro to see what he thinks...and he cant stop raving about it......the last text he sent me he thought it was verging on genius.
  8. well the disc is 8 tracks and theres at least another 2 tracks floating around which makes a very nice 10 track cdr. Right up there with Shinedown. I'm picking up what you're putting down. Gave the 10 tracks a spin last night and I like this. Looking forward to many more spins. I dont think there's a filler on it to be honest. If anything Id say the first 2 tracks are weaker and the album really kicks into gear at 'Everything' which I love. The second half is pretty killer throughout. Nice effort and almost on a par with Shinedown. 'Welcome To The Show' is a bit of an arse kicker with a good production innit.
  9. Bulletproof - that's the winner. Stunning. Wow, you're definitely spot on with 'Bulletproof'. Killer track. Definitely album highlight and the second best thing they've done after 'Q'. My problem with these guys is the same with Bulletproof Messenger and even to a degree, No Love Lost. No variation in tempo. Everything is slow and it does get to me over a full disc. The beauty of modern rock these days is that there are bands throwing out full hard rock riffs and driving mid to up-tempo tracks on par with the other stuff we listen to here. I like a few songs off this, but they need to vary it up more to get me totally on board. Yeah I do know what you mean...I may have jumped the gun slightly on this one. The second half is very strong though and I can see this residing in the top 10.......well for at least another couple of weeks. LOL. 14/07 is a very interesting date.....Daughtry and Adelitas Way released on the same day - which will be better though??.
  10. Bulletproof - that's the winner. Stunning.
  11. It's my favourite album of the year so far. I've put the question out there several times now and still had no reply as to what makes these lyrics inferior to the rest of the lyrics in the music we listen to. Until someone can validly tell me why there is less merit in Steel Panther's lyrics than anyone else's it will remain at the top of my 2009 list too... unless someone records an album which is as good as 'Feel The Steel' this year. Simple as that. The songs are the best I have heard in 2009. Tails off a little at the end..........that's the only reason it wont top my list. 'Asian Hooker' is probably my fav song of the year so far........cant get the pesky little ditty out of my head. Yeah, killer song. One of the best of the year no doubt. As for the end, 'Girl from Oklahoma' and 'Hell's on fire' are two of the album's best. The only 3 songs off this that won't make my Ipod are 'The shocker', 'Eatin' ain't cheatin' and 'Fuck all night (Party all day)'. The rest (8 songs!) is on my Ipod without question which is BY FAR the highest showing from any CD I've heard this year. For me, there is no question it's the best CD of the year so far. WTF...I love Fuck All Night! Total rip off, but its marvellous. Hells on Fire was one of my least favs actually cos the lyrics werent smutty enough - LOL! Im still struggling to put this above albums like Place Vendome and Farcry....which are virtually filler free. Oh and I love The Poodles newie as well. Cant wait for them to wipe Rock City off the face of the Earth come October!
  12. Not really ambitious....I love this thing. Listened to it 3 times straight this arvo. The second half is just great when cranked....esp those 2 I mentioned above. Some nice solos as well which is always welsome on a modern album.

  14. I only have the debut. Havent spun it say 10 years at least! Remember 'Love Hunger' kicking my arse tho.
  15. worn as fuckin ear muffs.
  16. Evans Blue - Bulletproof (just f stunning).
  17. I love painting when I can get through as many releases as this - Evans Blue - s/t (excellent!) No Love Lost - s/t Se7ensided - The Silver Lining (excellent vocalist!) Nural - Entitlement Steel Panther - Feel The Steel The Poodles - Clash Of The Elements
  18. Okay, so what the f*ck did I miss here? I hope you have a thread explaining yourself further. I'd love to see these guys release a good disc (the last 2 were very average at best) because in all honesty, 'Q' of 2007's "The Pursuit Begins When This Portrayal Of Life Ends" is one of the best songs I have ever heard in my entire life. If they could make an album full of songs like that they would be completely unbeatable. its well good mate - i PMd you.
  19. Had a first couple of listens to this today and it is indeed excellent. The second half of the album in particular is spot on. I mean does it get any better (modern wise) in 2009 than the double punch of 'Bulletproof' and 'I Blame You' ?? Just stunning both of them. Will tuck in neatly behind Nural at No 2 spot for me
  20. Exactly the argument that splits the 2 sides mate - I have to agree with you on all your points to be honest, as do others, but the SP fanboys will (and have) had something to say about that To be honest this album is excellent. Sing along choruses, funny as hell and just some great great songs. The only thing which is keeping it off top spot is one or two weaker tracks towards the end. Up to 'Turn Out The Lights' tho it just plain rocks.
  21. Luckily my potential children ended up tangled in her hair.
  22. 11 songs seems much more senseible...lets hope that half of them arent ballads. but yeah looking forward to this.
  23. well the disc is 8 tracks and theres at least another 2 tracks floating around which makes a very nice 10 track cdr. Right up there with Shinedown.
  24. the only album this year which has a better solo than yours mate.......im sure you will appreciate the last 3 minutes of 'best of times'. pretty special. to be honest i could take or leave most of the other tracks tho. I'm listening to that solo right now actually! Petrucci is something else for sure. First spin so far but I'm liking it. They're exactly the kind of prog I like with plenty of guitars and no shortage of melody. That being said, I have to be in the mood for it. they still pale against Threshold...IMO. Edit Haha - Good one. I love Threshold, and have considered them one of the best Metal bands from the UK for a long time , but DT are a whole different ball game imo, far more complex in songwriting (and way better songs) and all virtuoso players at the VERY top of their game that destroy the competition on all fronts - Threshold are definitley more accesible though I will give you that, but like comparing Southend To Man Utd - you would be silly to do so Well IMO Dead Reckoning and Subsurface kill anything DT have ever released. By some margin I will happily add. I mean come on....Pilot absolutely mullers anything on the new DT. Most of the new DT just loses me - almost unlistenable.....Tuscany being a prime example.....parts of it are great, other parts just bore me senseless. For example....lose the first 4 mins (Zzzzzz)...song begins at 4 mins......then lose 9-10 min (WTF?)......then lose 11-14 mins. There you go. ive just lost you 8 mins. Then youd have a decent 11 min song.....still too long tho. To be honest I though Systematic Chaos was probably stronger. Ho hum. PS i'll give you 'Shattered Fortress'....that song is pretty wicked I must admit.
