  1. Nice choices mate. Personally I'd have ditched the last 2 and included "Down Boys" and maybe "April 2031" on the end (bit of a down-beat ending though!), but it then becomes a compilation of their first albums really... Thin Disguise would have to be on there somewhere...one of their best songs IMO
  2. Firefest.......cant wait!! Yeah, not this year, I am afraid, my friend ! Again .... !! Im not surprised.........it costs me enough to go for two days and I live here lol !!
  3. Firefest.......cant wait!!
  4. feckin excellent.....this is exactly what Edguy are all about.....just love that chorus! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3HnDEuGpGrI&feature=related
  5. Another pretty cool one.............listen to the last 2 lines - hilarious. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gPD675H-Ms&feature=related
  6. I wouldnt buy her music, but whenever I see her perform live on a chat show or awards thingys, im always intrigued....she's obviously got talent both musically and creatively.
  7. Tron Legacy [the effects have obviously improved, but the story line hasnt....pretty watchable tho]
  8. Wrong! 'No Return' is far and away the best song on the album... a return to the glory days. I could appreciate an impartial fan not being too into this, but as a long-time Victory fan I really think it's a great return. In the scheme of everything that's been released in 2011 I admit it probably won't rate overly high, but I still love it and think it's a great offering from a brilliant band. Well Im just going on what track I can actually remember when Ive done playing it, and 'Victim Of Lies' is always the one im left singing (in my head! lol).....just means for me, its the best song...and a killer solo as well. Hoping the album will grow...early days eh.
  9. Great ballad from the new album...............love this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JED5aP7Hjnc
  10. Tish & pish to both of you - it's gonna be great. Trust me ;-)
  11. 5 star review - sounds like he liked it LOL !!! Bodes v well......... http://www.rockeyez.com/reviews/cd/white-widow/rev-2011-08-bmr-white-widow-seranade-5-0.html
  12. HEAT disc will definitely be first part of 2012. An obvious contender for album of the year...........hopefully!!
  13. lol...those 2 modern discs dont stand a chance. & if they do, then you are deaf ;-)) Actually mate, with completely mathematical and across-the-board ratings, this is how these 4 albums ended up: Miss Behaviour - Last Woman Standing - 82% Bad Habit - Atmosphere - 83% Forever the Sickest Kids - s/t - 84% Stealing Eden Truth in tragedy - 85% I guess there's still a place for personal preferences, but I trust my scores. To be honest, the Stealing Eden one was the lowest placed of all in my "off the top of my head" lists, but when I actually sat down and analysed them all, song by song, it was the legitimate leader. I have the break-ups song by song if you don't believe me. To explain briefly, despite some killer tracks (especially the first 3 on Bad Habit) both the MHR ones suffered at the mercy of a couple of weak tracks, which was enough to bring the total down. FTSK was by far the most consistent of the 4 releases, maintaining a high quality throughout. Stealing Eden dipped a couple of times too, but the highs were high and the lows not too low. Anyway, as I said, will try to make up a thread soon with my nerdy little findings. Right, lets get one thing clear - what you are doing is not nerdy (well it is a tiny bit nerdy I guess), cos I do it too. Fills a very boring hour on the train everyday lol ! But really I started rating each song last year as it was the only way I could differentiate all the great releases and this year is proving just as difficult. & yeah I agree that sometimes it throws up some odd results! This way I can also legitimately combine modern and MHR in the same list. So my ratings (so far) for those albums is - Bad Habit 89.2% Miss B 88.4% (agree there is a dip here and there on these albums but the highs are soooooo good that they equal out to very good scores) Stealing E 82.9% (havent rated Forever, but it would be lower than Stealing) I agree that Stealing is pretty consistent, but never really reaches the highs of the other 2 (highest rated song on Stealing is 8.75), hence why the scores are fairly close, but the 2 MHR comfortably win the day. Cheers Destrophy actually came out a lot worse than I expected. Still a good score at 85% but I thought it was a shoe-in this year. 85% is still obviously an amazing score... but there's a small handful I've already rated higher than that. Anyway, to each their own. I will be very interested to see how our lists compare come the end of the year end - rankings as well as individual scores. One thing I can see straight off the bat, and again, to each their own. But I think the huge difference will be me treating the modern rock releases as equals, rather than second class citizens. I have Destrophy at about 89% - still an amazing disc IMO. Re modern discs - everything gets treated the same by me - afterall a good song is a good song been spinning : Roxxi - Drive It To Ya Hard Reece/Kronlund - Solid Work Of Art - In Progress 7th Heaven - Pop Media
  14. Is it just me or is this pretty average? Starts out well with Restless & Speak up but by track 4 it goes on a run of averageness for about 6 tracks before the awesome 'Victim Of Lies' hits (by far the best song on the album for me). Its all nice and rocking but the hooks just dont do it for me :-( [also, Im So Excited is just wrong.]
  15. Also I just have to add that the guitar solo in 'Cabo' is f awesome. Just a moment. Seriously if EM does really play all instruments on this and write all the songs the guy is a genius....plain and simple.
  16. Nice summation. We are pretty much in agreement on overall score...I have it at 94.1% (could change a tad?), but main difference is 'How To Stop' & 'Tear Down The Barricades' are almost reversed. I Like 'How To Stop' but just found the chorus ever so slightly annoying by the end.....excellent backing harmonies tho.....whereas 'Tear' is melodic perfection for me. Amazing over the top chorus, and just KILLER solos. A winner for me. Bottom line is : Excellent album.

  20. glad you said 'so far'............actually not even that is true, but hey ho to each their own. Suffice to say that what's coming at the end of August crucifies this.........in the nicest possible way of course ;-))
  21. A perfect song IMO. Yep. I remember being 10, sitting on my bedroom floor playing with Lego blocks and singing along to this song. I didn't understand--couldn't understand, really--what it was about, but I knew I loved it. Those harmonies give me chills to this day....oh and 'that' guitar.
  22. OK, for those that cant wait.........fill your boots - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VqR9dcZrc4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBhyP6fYaQ4&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxchKsX8eko&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiW3mfF1mLY&feature=related
  23. Yeah the soundbyte for "Castaway" sounds killer. Based on soundbytes alone I tend to agree, sounds a touch workmanlike and very similar to the debut. Still awesome though, and the debut was a slow-burner for me so hoping this will be too. Toby Hitchcock will be album of the year though... This is no slow burner - you will love it from spin no 1. There are some seriously good songs on here - as I said my gripes are only minor and this will sit comfortably above 90%
  24. Holy shite.........the spam is rolling in today! The worst ive seen it actually. Dan & co please turn up soon................
