  1. Thanks to all for your comments on Lovex, they sound awesome (from the soundbytes the new one sounds like it's all-killer) and I'm awaiting my copy. Not sure how I missed them but I'd assumed, from the name, they were a bit like The Poodles or Wig Wam and were kinda sleaze/glam/hard rock (a combination that is my idea of hell). Luckily they are pure melodic rock and right up my street. P.s. No offence to anyone who likes The Poodles (even though they suck). Yeah Lovex is a great album, but it does tail off a bit in terms of quality over the last 2 or 3 songs, the first 7 are all great though. Think I have rated around 86-87% If anything the first 3 tracks are out of place with the other 7. They have a dancey commercial pop rock vibe to them. For me the album gets really good once track 4 starts. Queen of the night is my fav track by a country mile :-)) Gotta agree with Dave here. To me, the weakest two songs are 'Queen of the night' (only for the horns - good song otherwise) and easily the album's weakest song, 'Slave for the glory.' The rest are super, but if anything I'd say it starts slow and picks up as the CD goes on. I can stand horns, if a song has the best chorus on the album ;-)

  5. Im the other way actually, I think there are at least 3 or 4 songs on this better than anything on the debut....tastes eh??!
  6. Haha, Tim, I must lack reasonable taste then. WOA doesn't stand out in a poor year, but blend in rather well. Boring disc. Hitchcock is a bit better, but still too much filler IMO. To each their own Well fair enough if you don't rate them as highly, but what has been better? Nothing in the AOR field comes close, and sure there's been good stuff like Night Ranger etc but I'm not blown-away by anything else.... Airrace is still my favorite 2011 AOR album and it blows away WOA and Toby Hitchcock. Robin Beck, Night Ranger and Journey are other goodies as well. But I agree there hasn't been much to get excited about AOR-wise this year. 2011 has been great IMO.....when I look at my current top 20 its pretty awesome. I can honestly say that all those albums are keepers and will be played to death in the coming months/years. And that's with loads of potentially great discs to come...like Grand Design, Reckless Love, Steel Panther, Strangeways, White Widdow, Dream Theater, Jamison/Kimball, The Magnificent...hell even ISSA might come up with a decent album this time ;-)) But just to summerise, WoA and TH are head and shoulders above any other release this year and are up there with the best releases this millenium IMO. Cheers
  7. Yeah, Im hoping to get a promo of 'Idolizer' from Pelle....if I do i'll post some thoughts/review asap. Cheers
  8. Work Of Art - In Progress Xorigin - State Of The Art Bai Bang - Livin' My Dream
  9. Backed. (for a change! lol) Completly agree. As for some other comments in this thread......Robin Beck better than WoA ?? WTF? That RB album is weak IMO (apart from one or 2 standouts) Night Ranger 71% ?? WTF. People must be listening to different albums to me.............. Airrace is a great album tho............
  10. Glad someone else is appreciating TDTB.......totally awesome song to these ears. Definitely better than Castaway, but I do love that chorus! 'Castaway' out of these two for me. Not that it's the song of the year, but it's better than 'TDTB' which I think was one of my least favourite songs on the Hitchcock CD. Weirdo.....TDTB is a killer 10/10 song for me....cant see how MHR can sound any better to be honest??
  11. Glad someone else is appreciating TDTB.......totally awesome song to these ears. Definitely better than Castaway, but I do love that chorus!
  12. Inception [mindblowing.....no pun intended. Seriously this was excellent!]
  13. Xorigin - State Of Art [being released on the same day as WoA and Toby Hitchcock I thought this was going to be overshadowed, but surprisingly this stands as a very good AOR album - one of the better efforts Ive heard this year!]
  14. glad i'm not alone, thought that it's only me here that think this is awesome I dont think its awesome, but I agree that it got some bad press which wasnt really warranted. A solid effort to these ears with only a couple of fillers on board.
  15. You seem to find full length versions of all sorts of great music that isn't available yet, so next time you post you had better have a full length track from the upcoming White Widdow.......PLEEEEEEEAAAASSSSSE!!!!!! No mate just going on the sample.......
  16. He does and he is! Next up Eclipse new album and Jimi Jamison solo album he's writing (not as heavy as Toby's album). Plus there is The Friday Nights for pop/nu breed fans... Love this guy! And how good does WET still sound? Yeah I saw on Erik's facebook page that is writing (or has just finished writing!) for Jimi's solo album - very exciting!!
  17. lol...to each their own, but I think yours is gonna be a very lonely opinion in the weeks to come.
  18. Is it me or does the verse in 'Cry Wolf' sound exactly like the Heavens Edge debut! Sounds pretty great.
  19. Very good album with track 2 (Feel It Again) being their best ever song IMO By a long way ;-)
  20. As for WW, difficult to judge from samples but the first half of the abum sounds killer but the second half doesn't sound strong enough to compete with TH or WoA. Should be a solid top tenner though and very excited about hearing it in full & seeing them at Firefest!!
