If you are talking about Ozone then you are being influenced by bog average songs.......... Overland sounds amazing on The Ladder disc and equally as good on Epic from last year. Have to admit tho never been a massive fan of Ousey.

Yes, Stranger Than Love is my pick or best track on Mood Swings yep i'd go Stanger Than Love as well.

@ Rocker, Alpha, I have no problem with his vocals on disc either. I was more trying to point out one of the possible reasons why they split. I have never seen a band live with so little connection on stage or with their audience. Going through the motions was how my mate described them

And Darren Smith definitely should not sing more. Not at the expense of Harry Hess.

No. I love their first 3 cds. The 4th was a step back in quality imo. They have always been weak live. Not bad as such but just not quite what u expect from the albums.

just to expand........ I tend to agree with KROK.....nearly everything I hear lately with Soto sounds the same - like cloned versions of WET b-sides. At least on his Soto album he went in a slightly different direction even if it wasnt to everyones taste. I just find most of these samples / songs boring and uninspired. I'll pass.

Agreed and judging by the sampler the rest will be worse than the Soto album lol. No actually that first Allen tune sounded cool. But the best sounds bog average to me. Couldn't agree more.... ;-)

Ive liked all 3 too but i still fear we have heard the best of this album. I hope to hell this is consistent across the piece and hits my top 10. Id love that but i doubt it too.

Like the review......sounds like a good album. 95% ? wow, that's a pretty high score. Not sure Hysteria would score 95% from me ;-) Look forward to hearing it tho.

yeah I think that was Kouros rating actually..... On the whole rating an album.........yeah I agree that there are not many albums which have consistently great songs above 8.5/10.....and in many cases there is a shocker of a song on a gem of an album, which might drag the overall score down. However, I accept this in an overall rating of an album.......if the band chooses to stick a filler on an album then so be it. And of course it is down to an individual's taste.....naturally......what I consider to be a filler might be someone else's favourite song! But how else can you rank albums in any given year other than just guessing what's best and what's not. And so this debate rumbles on............... I didnt think that rating each song, adding it up and dividing by 10//11/12 or whatever was such a difficult / controversial concept Perhaps it is.

Pangea had some good songs, but just missed the mark....am i right?? Not listened to any of their stuff for ages.

for the record I rated it 77% when doing 1989 and was as kind to it as possible. I think that is a fair score.

no you dont actually.........and certainly not as awful as the songs you have highlighted ;-) Dr Feelgood has a handful of good songs and whole bunch of filler.....one of the most overrated albums of all time imo. But hey to each their own ;-)

Mmm i dont think anyone would consider 70-80% as 'great'?? Would they? My rough benchmarks are - 20% - terrible 30% - poor 40% - weak 50% - average 60% - solid 70% - good 80% - very good 90% - excellent 100% - perfect

PS Kouro's rating of Destine at 91.7% is far more accurate than Alpha's imho. The album is pretty much modern melodic rock perfection.
