  16. From FB: We're absolutely thrilled to tell you guys that Creye has now officially signed a multiple records contract to major label Frontiers Music srl. From Frontiers: BREAKING NEWS: Frontiers Music Srl is pleased to announce the signing of one of the most exciting AOR newcomers to the scene, CREYE! Hailing from Sweden (of course!), Creye was founded by Grand Slam guitarist Andreas Gullstrand. The band recently released a debut EP which shows enormous potential and immediately sparked interest from Frontiers. With soaring vocals and harmonies and melodies that seem to have been taken straight from the 80’s masterpieces of AOR music, Creye are here to stay and the multi-album deal signed with leading Italian rock label Frontiers Music Srl will help them pursue the goals they are determined and very serious to achieve for their career. “We were very picky when it came to choosing a suitable label for us,” says Andreas. “The options were many, but at the end of the day we were looking for a label with muscles big enough to help us get to the next level. When the question arose from Frontiers, it immediately felt like this was exactly the kind of label that we were searching for!” CREYE debuted in late 2016 with the single "Never Too Late," which caused some stir in the AOR scene with outstanding reviews and immediate talk of the “next big thing” to come out of Sweden. Andreas worked hard to recruit a strong line-up of full-time members as well as continuing to put together new material. In March 2017, the 3 song EP, "Straight To The Top" was released by the band, showing off a much more mature and evolved sound. And finally, in May 2017 vocalist Robin Jidhed (son of ALIEN singer, Jim) joined the band and thereby added the final piece to the puzzle. This is just the beginning and you can be sure that CREYE will definitely live up to the initial hype! If you are into bands such as Work of Art, Art Nation, One Desire, and early H.E.A.T, then this band is for you. If you have not yet had the chance to review them, hit the play button below NOW and have a listen to “Never Too Late,” a feel good, breezy uptempo AOR track which can only put a big fat smile on your face: CREYE is: Vocals - Robin Jidhed Lead Guitar - Andreas Gullstrand Rythm Guitar - Fredrik Joakimsson Bass - Gustaf Örsta Keyboards - Joel Rönning Drums - Arvid Filipsson www.creyesweden.com
  17. From Escape Music: The wait is over… Escape Music is pleased to announce the release of Snow album! Snow – At Last… Limited edition with first pressing only will include a full length live CD recorded in LA at the Starwood back in May 1981! with complete liner note written by Dave Reynolds. The Story goes: Formed from the ashes of Speed Of Light by the Cavazo brothers – guitarist Carlos and bassist Tony – SNOW should’ve been as huge as Van Halen. Sadly, the quartet (the line-up completed by vocalist Doug Ellison and drummer Stephen Quadros) just couldn’t get signed for love or money. However, as you will discover, the Californian band would still have a great deal of influence on the early 80s American metal scene.... “My brother Tony and I formed Speed Of Light with a drummer by the name of Perri Strong in 1973,” explains Carlos Cavazo. “Tony and I did all the vocals. I hated singing, but we couldn’t find anyone who could sing at the time, so we were stuck doing the vocals. We were a cover band, but we nevertheless were able to gain some local notoriety.” “We were a hard rock band playing backyard keg parties and thirty minute lunchtime shows at High Schools,” adds Tony Cavazo. “When we first put the band together we were both guitarists and we had a bass player, but he went on vacation with his parents for a month. He had left his bass and amp at Perri’s house where we rehearsed. I picked it up and from that moment on the bass became my instrument. When our bassist came back we had to tell him that I was playing bass in the band now.” The search for a lead singer had ended with the recruitment in 1976 of Fred Dehut, who joined alongside new drummer Roger Singer. Dehut would last until mid 1977, at which point the legendary Doug Ellison came on board. The name change to SNOW occurred soon after. “We met Doug through a musicians contact service in Hollywood,” recalls Carlos. “At that time Tony and I were sharing a house in Newport Beach. When Doug joined the band he moved in with us. It was definitely a party house!” “I auditioned and moved in the house shortly thereafter,” adds Ellison, having relocated to California from New York City. “I had been in a band called the Flying Tigers and played in Manhattan with the likes of the Ramones, Blondie and Talking Heads at CBGB’s and Max's Kansas City. I moved west to get serious.” In the summer of ’78 Roger Singer left the band, and SNOW decided to move to L.A. “I was living in a very dangerous neighbourhood in Hollywood at the time,” remembers Stephen. “I think either I had an ad in the ‘Recycler’ newspaper or the band did. I was out of practice at the time but their music was right up my alley. So when we got together, in their garage, the chemistry was immediate. And when we launched into an impromptu version of Montrose’s ‘Space Station #5’ we all knew.” “We started out playing clubs and backyard parties; basically any gigs that were paying money,” recalls Carlos. “We did our share of backyard parties, and getting them raided by the police because we were so loud!” Stephen chuckles. “But it wasn’t long before we were playing clubs like The Whisky A Go Go, The Troubadour and The Starwood.” Becoming regulars on the L.A. club circuit over the next two years, SNOW built up a healthy and fervent following, playing alongside contemporaries as Smile, Pretty Poison, Eulogy, A La Carte, White Sister, Pegasus, The Boyz, Quiet Riot and London. The latter’s bassist Nikki Sixx would also open for SNOW on two occasions in Mötley Crüe’s formative club daze. SNOW also opened up for Johnny Winter, Starz, Spirit and Canned Heat “Like any other band it took us a while to garner a following and to tighten up our live presentation,” recalls Quadros. “We definitely paid our dues and slowly began to reap the rewards. One thing that was a constant however was that we always had loads of raw energy! Thus our tagline ‘Pure Uncut Rock’! This was a result of the natural or unnatural, whichever way you look at it, chemistry between all of us.” By this point SNOW had begun to gather together recordings of their original material. “Our first demos were recorded in our rehearsal studio with a 4 track,” states Carlos, “but I think the first pro- recordings we made were for the EP. We managed to build a large following and our EP helped immensely. When the EP came out, I noticed the crowds getting bigger. And we did have a pretty cool stage show. Between what we had, and what our management invested into the band, we were pretty fortunate to have decent gear.” The Snow EP was something of legend, even in the early 80s. Released on their own Dynamic imprint, it was extremely limited, with distribution appearing to centre solely on the L.A. area and particularly the band’s gigs. Consisting of five tracks (‘No Way To Treat A Lady’, ‘Hell No’, ‘Crack The Whip’, ‘Bad Generation’ and the absolutely skull crushing ‘Don’t Want Anymore’) , the EP found SNOW in utterly ferocious form. What it lacked in state of the art production it more than made up for with its sheer ‘take no prisoners’ attitude and ‘pure uncut’ energy. More you can read inside the booklet……... 18. Don't know the first 10 or 20 heavy metal cds but the very first one was this (according to www.gizmodo.com.au) "The first CD ever made was pressed on August 17, 1982. It was actually a pressing of ABBAs The Visitors album." And why 74 minutes worth of storage? "To fit Beethoven's 9th Symphony, of course."
  19. From blabbermouth.net: Legendary singer Graham Bonnet (RAINBOW, MSG, ALCATRAZZ, GRAHAM BONNET BAND) has joined forces with Italian axeman and producer Dario Mollo in a new project called EZOO. The band's debut album, "Feeding The Beast", will be released on June 2 via earMUSIC. Grooving and stomping music, with the great feeling straight from the golden days of hard rock, EZOO features the immediately recognizable voice of Bonnet and Mollo's melodic and powerful guitars. While Mollo is well known for his collaboration with Glenn Hughes (VOODOO HILL) and his three albums with former BLACK SABBATH singer Tony Martin, you can claim that probably every rock fan has heard the biting and unique voice of Bonnet before. The classic hit single "Since You Been Gone" (still played worldwide on the radio) from Ritchie Blackmore's RAINBOW album "Down To Earth" gave the band which, at the time, also featured two current DEEP PURPLE members Roger Glover and Don Airey, one of its biggest successes. Not to be forgotten, Bonnet also worked with the MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP and ALCATRAZZ, which launched the careers of Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen. Drawing on the experience of these two rich rock careers, the two leaders of EZOO obviously know how to rock. Nobody is free from a good dose of nostalgia, but the pair has created an album that catches the charm and the grandeur of the classic hard rock sounds but comes in a modern and contemporary guise. The first time Mollo and Bonnet worked together was during a tour, as Mollo remembers: "In 2001 I received a call from Don Airey, who I know since the dawn of my career. He asked me to participate to an English tour with Graham Bonnet on vocals and Harry James and Chris Childs from THUNDER on drums and bass. I really enjoyed the tour so much that in 2004 we repeated the same experience with Graham, organizing an European tour with a new band that we called ELECTRIC ZOO. During the tour rehearsals, we recorded three RAINBOW songs." Out of this very enjoyable experience the idea to record a new album started to grow, but it took quite a while to make it real. "In 2007, I decided to record a new album with Graham and we started to write new material. This process took a very long time because I was very busy with my projects with Glenn Hughes (VOODOO HILL) and Tony Martin (THE CAGE) and Graham was busy too. A while ago, I received a call from Graham's manager telling me that he had listened to some of the demo songs and that it would have been criminal to not release this awesome material. We decided to add new songs and we recorded the now renamed EZOO album with some members from the ELECTRIC ZOO band, Roberto Gualdi on drums (of Italian prog legends PFM), Guido Block on bass and backing vocals on the RAINBOW songs and a new keyboards and bass player (Dario Patti) for the rest of the album." As a special treat, "Feeding The Beast" contains new versions of RAINBOW classics "Eyes Of The World" and "Since You Been Gone" (written by Russ Ballard). "Feeding The Beast" track listing: 01. You Are Your Money 02. The Flight Of The Sapini 03. C'est La Vie 04. Guys From God 05. Feeding The Beast 06. Eyes Of The World 07. Colder Than Cool 08. Too High To Be Falling 09. Motorbike 10. Since You Been Gone 11. Don't Look Back 12. Coda
