Yeah, the ratings were pretty abysmal, so CBS dumped it on Saturday nights: http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/04/29/harpe...w-ratings/17713 http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/04/27/cbs-e...-saturday/17476 BTW... TV By The Numbers = EXCELLENT site if you like to keep up with how your favorite TV shows are doing.

"Official" Best of 2009 Thread
whiplash1972 replied to Blue Charvel's topic in General Music Discussion
My faves so far... Hot Leg – Red Light Fever Chris Laney – Pure Johnny Lima – Livin’ Out Loud <----- Great f'n stuff; been getting constant play since it arrived earlier this week Covered Call – Money Never Sleeps Papa Roach – Metamorphosis FarCry – High Gear Alias – Never Say Never Holy Water – The Collected Sessions The Trophy – The Gift of Life -
This is one of my fave 2009 releases so far. Shine, I Wanna Be Free, and Money Never Sleeps are my faves. Top notch stuff, and the title track referencing a Gordon Gekko quote from the film Wall Street is just plain cool.

Anthrax v. Megadeth v. Metallica
whiplash1972 replied to whiplash1972's topic in Music Polls and "Best of" Lists
My picks went like so... Metallica on the first three; Kill 'em all, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets are classics! Anthrax - Among the Living My fave of the Belladonna era, and just a monster release! Anthrax - State of Euphoria I never really got into And Justice... all that much, and this is another killer effort with Belladonna at the helm Metallica - S/T (The Black Album) The release that alot of Metallica purists hate, but I've always loved it. Anthrax - Sound of White noise John Bush takes the helm on this one Metallica - Load Metallica - Re-load Again, alot of Metallica fans hate Load & Re-load, but I have no problem with them Anthrax - Volume 8: The Threat is Real Metallica - S&M Anthrax - We've Come For You All Probably my fave Anthrax release; loved this one! Metallica - Death Magnetic I've enjoyed alot of Megadeth's songs over the years, but seldom found myself really enjoying an entire release from them. Peace Sells is easily my fave from them, and woulda had a shot had it not been going head to head with Master of Puppets. Mike -
Let the battle commence!

Congratulations Rick! And as a parent of three, might I also say... good luck! Mike -
Yeah, I'm slightly interested in the new one... http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/2007best.cgi#mike "Sweet Trade" was a "grower" for me, and wound up being my fave 2007 release, so I can't wait to hear this one!

I too wanted to live with this one for a while before voting and commenting, and here's what I've come up with... 1. The Fine Line - Just an intense, kickass rocker...love it! 2. She’s Crazy - Anyone else getting a cool Enuff Z'nuff vibe from the verse vocals? Love this one too! 3. Heaven - awesome ballad; been enjoying this one for years now! 4. Have It All - another killer rocker 5. Love Won’t Wait - love the chorus here! 6. Out of Reach 7. Those Were the Days 8. Talk to Me 9. The Same Mistake 10. Kick Me Down 11. Nowhere Fast Overall, a most excellent release Pete; you and the rest of the guys have done a fantastic job, and I can't wait to hear what you come up with next.

Yngwie Malmsteen v. Axel Rudi Pell
whiplash1972 replied to whiplash1972's topic in Music Polls and "Best of" Lists
Georg, I gotta ask, what the hell does anything you said here have to do with which releases you actually prefer? I've read and re-read your post, and still have no clue... Surely you can not be referring to the utterly forgettable "Magic"? -
Yngwie Malmsteen v. Axel Rudi Pell
whiplash1972 replied to whiplash1972's topic in Music Polls and "Best of" Lists
My picks are split: Trilogy - My fave out of Yngwie's early work! Odyssey Eclipse Fire & Ice The Seventh Sign Magnum Opus Facing the Animal The Masquerade Ball Shadow Zone Kings & Queens Tales of the Crown Diamonds Unlocked While Yngwie is definitely the better guitarist IMO, it still comes down to the songs, and unfortunately, he seems to have forgotten how to write a catchy, memorable song in recent years. Facing the Animal was his last really good effort IMO, and I've much preferred ARP's output in recent years. -
Killer guitarists who bring in hired guns to handle the vocal duties...let the battle commence!

What type of CD collector are you?
whiplash1972 replied to Jimbo's topic in Music Polls and "Best of" Lists
I'm a combo of choices 2 & 4, and ultimately I went with # 4 I have a couple thousand CDs, BUT, I'm constantly purging stuff that no longer gets listened to. At the same time, I'm constantly adding through purchases and trading, so it's pretty much a constant turnover. There is not anything unopened/unlistened to, and I can honestly say I've listened to all of my CDs multiple times.
