  1. The new Stryper album entitled "The Covering" featuring all original members will be released in the Fall of 2010. Read the letter from Michael Sweet below for more details: Hey Everyone, Just as promised, I wanted to outline some more details regarding the new Stryper record. We grew up listening to many different styles of music and there is a list of bands that influenced us throughout our musical education. Bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Van Halen, UFO, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Kansas and many others, helped to shape our sound and make us who we are today, musically speaking. We grew up on the streets of LA playing every club in town from Gazzari's to The Whisky to The Troubadour to you name it. We played covers from all the bands mentioned above and we shaped our own sound from listening and performing songs from these classic bands. We wanted to step outside the box and record a record that shows you, the fans, where we come from - our historical, musical roots so to speak. It's a side to Stryper that no one has really seen or heard before, or at least quite like this. We performed "On Fire" by Van Halen on a few tours and we also performed "Breaking The Law" by Priest on this last tour. The response was far beyond our expectations each time we performed these songs. People seemed genuinely surprised to hear Stryper cover these songs and even more surprised to hear Stryper perform these songs relatively well. This will be an opportunity for Robert, Oz, Tim and myself to loosen up and have some fun. For those of you who may think that we're walking away from our faith - your wrong. We've never been more serious about our faith at any point in our lives. It is however important to enjoy what you do and lighten up from time to time. That's what we plan to do. This will be a fun record to make and we hope that this comes through, as well as the chance to showcase the abilities that we've been blessed with. More details to come and a specific song list and sequence to follow. We're looking forward to getting back into the studio and more important, to seeing all of you on the road again this year! Be well, be blessed and let the games begin, Michael http://twitter.com/michaelhsweet
  2. http://ausiellofiles...lls-happy-town/ May 11 2010 02:30 PM ET This Just In: ABC pulls 'Happy Town' Some sad news for fans of ABC's Happy Town (Hello? Anyone? Bueller?). The poor man's Twin Peaks is getting yanked off the air after this week's airing. According to ABC, the ratings-challenged drama — which will be replaced with a Primetime special on May 19 and a rebroadcast of Transformers on May 26 — will return on June 2 with the first of five remaining episodes. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- I watched the first coupla episodes, and thought it was kinda cool in a "Twin Peaks" kinda way, but unfortunately, folks are VERY leery of devoting time to serialized dramas since they rarely last...
  3. http://anthrax.com/NFWS/ THE RUMORS ARE TRUE: JOEY BELLADONNA REJOINS ANTHRAX "Big Four" Dates with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth Set; New Album Due in 2011 LOS ANGELES, CA - MONDAY, May 10, 2010 -- With rumors swirling since Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante and bassist Frank Bello were seen together with former Anthrax vocalist Joey Belladonna late last month in New York, the band - Benante, Bello, and guitarists Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano - is elated to announce that Belladonna has officially rejoined the band. In his once and current capacity, Belladonna will make his first appearance with Anthrax this summer when the band joins Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth - The Big Four founding bands of the thrash genre - to co-headline a series of Sonisphere Festivals in ten European cities, as well as playing a handful of Anthrax-headlined shows (itinerary is below). "I am super excited about this," said Scott Ian. "Joey and the rest of the band came to see me play at a club in New York, I hadn't seen Joey for years, since the end of the reunion tour. Joey taps me on the shoulder, instant big hug, it felt like no time had gone by. The band dynamic is an interesting one - in Anthrax, Joey and I spent so many years of our lives together, we grew up together, we know each other so well, so it was like no time was lost." Belladonna, an essential part of Anthrax's lineup from 1985 to 1992, sang on some of the band's most popular albums including Spreading the Disease, Among the Living and Persistence of Time. He had reunited with original members of Anthrax for the 2005 - 2007 "Among the Living Tour," but this situation is different. Explained Belladonna, "I had been in touch with Charlie and Frank, then I got a call from their manager who said that everyone wanted me back in the band. I thought, 'are you guys for real? You want me up there, fronting the band like it was before?' I was thrilled. We've already started to reconnect with the old ways of having conversations. Everything is easy going and feels really good." "We're going to do these summer shows and gel as a band," explained Charlie Benante, "get comfortable playing with each other again, and the energy from that should go right into making new music." Immediately following the final Sonisphere festival in early August, the band will fly back to the U.S. and begin writing and rehearsing for a new album that's expected to be out in early 2011. "We've got an unusual luxury of hindsight," added Ian. "We finished an album a year ago, we've lived with those 12 songs since then, and we can look back on them and see what we really love and what we can make even better, especially with Joey back in the fold." Added Benante, "There are five or six songs from a year ago that we don't want to change, we love them the way they are, other than having Joey making them his own with his vocals. Then there's another five or six that we may want to rework, and then there are a bunch of other tunes that are still in the early stages, that we want to finish. "The band has been on an emotional roller coaster since last summer," Benante continued, "but I think everything that we've had to deal with during that time was pushing us toward this, to Joey being back in Anthrax, and the timing couldn't be more perfect or appropriate. To have Joey with us playing these shows with Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth is the way it should be - as Anthrax's vocalist from '85 to '92, he was part of 'The Big Four.'" "John was a real stand up guy about the situation," said Ian, about John Bush, Anthrax's vocalist from '92 - '05. "He knew we wanted to move forward at full speed, that we needed a total commitment to Anthrax, and he knew that wasn't what he wanted. We certainly wish John well. We've had so many great times with him, and we appreciate his stepping in last summer at the last minute, and performing with us since then. He will always be an integral part of the Anthrax family." With worldwide sales in excess of 10-million, Anthrax is about to celebrate its 29th year as a band. Over its career, Anthrax has received multiple Gold and Platinum albums, multiple Grammy nominations, and a host of other accolades from the press, industry and fans. Complete dates for Anthrax - with Joey Belladonna on vocals - are as follows: JUNE 16 Sonisphere Festival, Warsaw, Poland 18 Sonisphere Festival, Wil, Switzerland 19 Sonisphere Festival, Prague, Czech Republic 20 Arena Wien, Vienna, Austria 22 Sonisphere Festival, Sofia, Bulgaria 24 Sonisphere Festival, Athens, Greece 26 Sonisphere Festival, Bucharest, Romania 27 Sonisphere Festival, Istanbul, Turkey JULY 31 Sonisphere Festival, Knebworth, UK AUGUST 1 Lokerse Feesten Festival, Lokerse, Belgium 3 Metropol, Hengelo, Netherlands 5 B1, Moscow, Russia 7 Sonisphere Festival, Stockholm, Sweden 8 Sonisphere Festival, Pori, Finland

  5. Agreed. I love Y&T, and I like the majority of the samples from Facemelter, but I can't understand why a video was done for arguably one of the weakest tracks on the disc??
  6. I see in the credits that the Hedgehog himself, mister Ron Jeremy has a part... the Penguin I'm guessing? LOL... *There was a parody back in the 80s starring John Homes and Tom Byron that was similar in its "campiness" to the Batman series: The Erotic Adventures of Dickman & Throbbin http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0132086/ Some funny shit from what I recall.... the quote listed on the IMDB page is priceless: Dickman: [speaks mock Japanese] Throbbin: Holy Ben Wa balls, Dickman! What does that mean? Dickman: I'm not certain, Throbbin. It's something I read on the back of a ginseng box. http://www.badongo.com/vid/420216 NSFW!
  7. So, we're down to just a few episodes...time to consider...what should the actors from Lost do next? http://www.ew.com/ew...0366046,00.html Some pretty interesting ideas here.
  8. Caught a few performances here and there this season. To be honest, Crystal Bowersox was the only one who could carry a tune in a bucket when I watched. I don't see her ever being as popular as Kelly clarkson or Carrie Underwood, but she's definitely the best of this year's lacklustre batch.
  9. You can check out "Deadly Deceiver" (the Japanese Bonus Track) on the Y&T multimedia page now: http://www.meniketti.com/multimedia.html

  12. I've posted her before in this thread, but I think it's time to re-visit Maria Kanellis (WWE, Celebrity Apprentice, Playboy):
  13. I gotta say, I'm diggin' the samples for the most part. The overall sound is a return to their Earthshaker/Mean Streak/Black Tiger days, but with a dash of IRWT and Dave's bluesier solo stuff thrown in at times. For me, "I Want Your Money", "Hot Shot", "Don't Bring Me Down", "One Life", "Losing My Mind" and especially "Shine On" are the obvious standouts. Looking forward to grabbing this one! 1. On With the Show 1:39 2. On With the Show 4:09 3. How Long 4:26 4. Shine On 5:00 5. I Want Your Money 4:42 6. Wild Child 4:09 7. I'm Coming Home 5:13 8. If You Want Me 4:33 9. 14. In last night's episode of American Dad, "The Touch" by Stan Bush was featured.
  15. This is what I get even after following your instructions, hence the reason I still have to use links Trying again.... You've got one too many "http://" in there. When you paste the info into the box that pops up, make sure you've only got one "http://" in there.
  16. Seven Pounds with Will Smith Not my normal movie fare, but I quite enjoyed it.
  17. http://msn.foxsports...ington-Redskins McNabb being traded is not surprising, BUT, within the same division? The Eagles may really regret this in the near future...
  18. You can now hear samples of most of the songs (the two cover tunes, "Bus Stop" and "Lies" are not included here) on Itunes: http://itunes.apple....ded/id365445326
  19. VERY cool way of doing a poll Dave! Big props! I went with... Bon Jovi - S/T House of Lords - WUD Steelhouse Lane - Slaves... Hardline - Double Eclipse Dare - Blood From Stone Bad thing is, I love the Dare CD! Definitely 5 "must owns".

  21. Frontiers Records announces the release of Y&T first studio album in 13 years Entitled "Facemelter" the new album will be released on May 21st in Europe Napoli, March, 2010 – Y&T, featuring original members Dave Meniketti (vocals and lead guitars) and Phil Kennemore (bass), along with longtime members John Nymann (guitar) and Mike Vanderhule (drums) have recorded their first studio album in 13 years, aptly titled "Facemelter" to be released in Europe on May 21st on Frontiers Records. With a discography of 18 albums and three greatest hits collections, Y&T has sold over four million albums since their 1974 inception. The band has toured with numerous Rock icons including Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Aerosmith, and Mötley Crüe, receiving constant and extensive airplay with hits such as Forever, Rescue Me, Mean Streak, and Summertime Girls. Y&T songs have been featured in a multitude of movies and television shows, including Real Genius, Out of Bounds, Baywatch, and Hunter. After five US top 100 albums, songs that tipped into the 40s, two Bammie Awards, and many international television appearances, Y&T's hits are still played nowadays on classic rock radio stations everywhere. Y&T's high-energy music still captivates legions of fans around the globe, proving Y&T's music timeless. As the title indicates, Facemelter—the anticipated new recording—is a hard rockin', song-oriented album that lives up to its name: it captures the band's raw energy and tightness that they've become known for. Featuring heavy grooves, powerful guitars, and strong melodies, the band shows their versatility, delivering a range of high-energy rockers, mid-tempo head-bangers, modern rock grooves, majestic ballads, and signature Y&T rock anthems. To mark the return, the band engaged John Taylor Dismukes—the same artist who designed covers for Y&T's classic albums "Mean Streak," "Black Tiger" and "In Rock We Trust"—to create the amazing art of the new Facemelter. "What a great feeling to dive back into making new Y&T music," states Dave Meniketti. "After being away from it for this long, the anticipation of writing a new CD worth of material was, at first, a bit scary, but as soon as we started up I was happy to find how natural it was to get right back in it again. I think we're going to have to keep this up, because musically and emotionally, we still have a lot to say!" "It's ridiculous that we waited so long to make a new record," states Phil Kennemore. "In creating new music for Facemelter, I rediscovered the most important thing for any artist, and that is to continue creating . . . it feeds my soul. My hope for Facemelter is that people might just find a few new favorite Y&T songs." "We recorded together to capture as much of a live feel as possible which I feel is the strong point of the band," adds Mike Vanderhule, while according to John Nymann, "The chemistry we have between us makes it so easy to develop ideas. Now that we are ignited with new material, I can't wait to bring it to the stage." Face-melting is a term that has been with Y&T since the mid-'70s, when a rabid fan ran backstage and told the band, "you melted my face," which inspired the group's first publishing company: "Facemelting Music." If you haven't yet taken Y&T's new album for a ride, grab your leathers, strap yourself in, and prepare to have your face melted. "Facemelter" includes the following tracks Prelude, On With The Show; One Life; Shine On; Wild Child; I Want Your Money; I'm Coming Home, If You Want Me; Hot Shot; How Long; Gonna Go Blind; Don't Bring me Down; Blind Patriot; Losing My Mind* * Bonus track included on the first pressing in digipak Y&T Dave Meniketti - lead vocals, lead guitars Phil Kennemore - bass guitar, vocals John Nymann - guitar, vocals Mike Vanderhule - drums & percussion, vocals Confirmed Summer Tour Dates in Europe: June 10 ~ Solvesborg, Sweden - Sweden Rock Festival June 12 ~ Donington, UK - Download Festival June 15 ~ Köln, Germany - Underground Cologne June 16 ~ Zwolle, Netherlands - Hedon Podium June 17 ~ Dordrecht, Netherlands - Bibelot June 19 ~ Clisson, France - Hellfest Weblinks: www.YandTRocks.com / www.myspace.com/yandtrocks / www.frontiers.it / www.myspace.com/frontiersrecords
