  1. Stripper girl is truly excellent, but for me, "Community Property" is their best ballad. Such deep subject matter and those touching, emotional lyrics. It just warms the heart....
  2. Stumbled across these by complete accident today: http://www.amazon.co...&rnid=625149011 Basically, 6 metal samplers that you can download absolutely FREE from Amazon. 72 songs you can download for a bagel if you enjoy the heavier stuff!
  3. So the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue arrives in my mailbox today, and inside is one of the most lovely creatures I've ever seen. Her name is Chantal O'brien. Evidently she's on one of those hideous "reality" shows (The Bachelor) but that does not change the fact that she is hot as FUCK!
  4. Listened to this one several times today; killer new tune from the 'snake!
  5. Frontiers Records is excited to announce the release of the highly anticipated fourth album from THE POODLES entitled "Performocracy" on April 15th in Europe and May 5th in North America. The title of the album is a combination of the words "Performance" and "Democracy", meaning "The power of Performance" or "Rule by Performance". The album was again produced by Mats Valentin, but this time Tobias Lindell (Europe, Mustasch) mixed the 12 outstanding tracks that make up the cd. "I think we have followed through on what we started with the last album, "Clash of the Elements", explains singer Jakob Samuel. "Besides continuing to work with producer extraordinaire, Mats Valentin, we took a step further with some of the material that was hinted at on "Clash of the Elements". On "Performocracy" there is a more epic and darker character to some of the songs that we wanted to explore in more detail. Having said this, we have definitely stayed with a lot of the signature melodic elements that are trademark of the band". The first single off "Performocracy" is "Cuts like a knife", which promises to entice both Poodles fans and anyone with a passion for rock n' roll. The song will impact at radio on February 21st and the single will be released digitally only on March 3rd. A video produced by Steve Ravic, who also shot and produced the band's landmark DVD release "In the Flesh", will accompany the release of the first single. After the gold and platinum records that the band was able to achieve in their home country Sweden, now it is time for them to take on the world ! "One important aspect of having a few releases in the bag is that you know more what you want as a band" adds bassist Pontus Egberg. "Someone once said that "if you want to dream big, you have to dream in great detail". To us this means that we take all the knowledge and experience that we have acquired from our previous efforts and use that to plan ahead and make our dreams bigger." As the album title suggests, performing songs live is the reason for what The Poodles are as a band. A full European tour is planned for the early fall of 2011 and in conjunction to this The Poodles will also head to South America and Japan to support the release of "Performocracy". For the summer of 2011 The Poodles will take part to festivals and shows with a focus on Sweden. "Performocracy" will include the following tracks: I Want It All; Until Our Kingdom Falls; Father To A Son; I Believe In You; Cuts Like A Knife; As Time Is Passing; Love Is All; Your Time Is Now; Action!; Bring Back The Night; Vampire's Call; Into The Quiet Night; Don't Tell Me (Bonus Track). http://www.poodles.se/ http://www.facebook....les/61616469928 http://www.youtube.com/thepoodles
  6. I chose as follows: 1. Defenders of the Faith - This was the first Priest album I ever owned (actually it was a cassette at the time) so as my introduction to them, it stands as my fave after all these years. SFV is awesome as well, and I would also have to give consideration to Painkiller as it contains my favorite Priest tune, "A Touch of Evil". 2. 98 Live Meltdown - I enjoy hearing Ripper take on the back catalog, and think he does a damn fine job 3. Jugulator - Just an onslaught of metal 4. Iced Earth ~ The Glorious Burden Simply put, this is EPIC! Easily my fave from Ripper. "When The Eagle Cries" is insanely good. 5. Halford ~ Resurrection Great stuff! I've recently gotten around to finally replacing my cassettes of Point of Entry, British Steel, and Hell Bent For Leather with CDS, and have been enjoying getting to know these albums all over again. I'll probably pick up Stained Class too, which is one I've never owned in any format.
  7. I've been listening to Priest quite a bit lately, and was wondering what everyone's faves are these days? Not just Priest, but all things Priest related as well! Make your picks, and then go back and see if your choice/opinions about your favorite JP studio album might have changed over the last five years: http://heavyharmonies.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=7556&st=0 *Here's the band Holy Rage which features original Judas Priest singer Al Atkins if you'd like to check them out: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=3540318179 http://www.myspace.com/alatkinsholyrage
  8. LMAO at this one last night... "my back hurts... <thwump> now my front hurts"
  9. I giggle every time I think about this one... Hey Janiiice.... well when it's game time, it's pain time, baby!
  10. I can't get the news link on Google to come up, but the word spreading on the 'net is that Gary Moore passed away in his sleep last. WTF is going on lately? Losing way too many musicians way too soon. Hot Press has learned of the death of Gary Moore. The legendary Belfast-born guitarist died in his sleep last night, while on holiday in Spain
  11. LOVE this thread! Like others have said, I could probably list a 100, but I'll try to go with just 10: Dokken - Haunted Y&T - City Twisted Sister - Wake Up the Sleeping Giant Ozzy - No More Tears Brother Firetribe - Kill City Kid White Lion - Livin' on the Edge Motley Crue - Wild Side Europe - Superstitious Van Halen - When It's Love Cinderella - Gypsy Road *If I were going to include a song outside of my normal hard rock listening, I'd go with Ordinary World by Duran Duran; awesome tune!
  12. Hopefully the worst has passed, as last I read, the storm had dropped to a category 2. Some pics here of the devastation seen in some areas (Cairns, Townsville): http://news.ninemsn....-yasi.slideshow No deaths reported so far, and hopefully it stays that way! There was, however, a birth: http://news.ninemsn....-born-in-cairns
  13. I watched... I wanted to turn away, but yet couldn't... so cheesy, yet so good. BTW... might I suggest to anyone watching Mega Python vs. Gatoroid in the future, make a drinking game out of it! Every time Debbie or Tiffany calls the other one a "bitch", do a shot! I promise, you will be wrecked by the end of the movie.
  14. According to Andrew over on Melodicrock.com it was "a bad mix of prescription medication that Gregg was taking for a couple of ailments" "Purely accidental. Just a bad mix of strong (but needed) medicine stopped his heart." http://forums.melodicrock.com/phorum33/read.php?f=1&i=395413&t=395384
  15. I had just picked up the first three Dirty Looks releases last year on the recommendation of several fine folks here at HH... great stuff. At 47, another musician leaves us way too soon. R.I.P. Henrik

  17. I was in 8th grade, and had laid out of school that day. I had been flipping through the channels trying to find something to watch, and wandered upon the launch, so I decided to check it out. I don't remember who the news anchor was who was reporting, but I remember the despair in his voice when it became apparent that the shuttle was not going to emerge from the large cloud of smoke, and that something had gone terribly wrong. "Sometimes, when we reach for the stars, we fall short. But we must pick ourselves up again and press on despite the pain." ~ Ronald Reagan
  18. Oh, and these aren't bots (not in the traditonal sense anyway); there are actual bitches and bastards going through and completing the HH sign up process (which requires email verification), and then posting their garbage on the board. There's not much that can be done to stop it. If someone's willing to go through the complete sign up process, even using captchas and email verification becomes useless.
  19. You're not actually seeing the half of it. I've deleted so many SPAM posts within a minute or so of their posting over the last week it's unreal (I know all the other mods are deleting them by the bunch as well!). I've blocked IP addresses, deleted accounts, deleted posts, and the cocksuckers just seem to multiply. Only thing I can figure is that this board got put on some sort of "spamming hot list" or something; it's NEVER been this bad before. Spamming bastards....
  20. Just as an addendum to my picks, I got in a batch of CDs early last week, all from 2010, which I have not had time to properly listen to: Unruly Child, White Widdow, Two Fires, Bombay Black, Michael Bormann, & Wicked Sensation. In all fairness to these CDs, my initial impression has been quite good with each of them, so most of them would probably have gotten at least an honorable mention if I could have given them more time to "sink in".
  21. Pursed lip photos are ok sometimes... well, at least when it's Summer Glau blowing us all a kiss!
  22. Backed 1000% Good to Be Bad was one of my top CDs from 2008, and I'm very much looking forward to the new one!
