my idea for a new singing tv show.

Call this RESURECTION or REINCARNATION or something like that. Have it be artist that have had "success" but have fallen off the music map. have it be at least a 20 year gap between now and when they were popular. it could be anyone from the likes of Debbie Gibson to Nelson to Men At Work and have a competition, fan vote for a major record deal with the chance for a comeback.

NBC had a show just like this a couple of summers ago... it was called "Hit Me Baby One More Time" (yes, like the Britney Spears song)... like "Idol" and "X Factor," it was an adaptation of a UK program.

The U.S. version featured such has-beens as Loverboy, Wang Chung, Flock of Seagulls, Tiffany and Greg Kihn.

I remember seeing the Loverboy performance and it was painful.

guess it didn't last long at all.

maybe keep the artist identity a wrapped up tight as to not have a lingering stereo-type associated with a name and see what they would do with a fresh start. kind of like radio did with Donnie Osmond, they only played the song with the artist listed as "mystery artist" till it was a hit already before they told everyone who it was.

Just seen this ... like the idea. Why not? Would be better than a lot of the reality nonsense on TV ... and I bet a few of them would be still be really good.
