Hanging on a Heart attack - Device

Just discovered Jack Campbell's "Lost Fleet" series. A guy who's been stuck in suspended animation for a century is defrosted to find; 1. He's now a legendary hero 2. The fleet that rescued him has just been on the wrong end of a buttwhipping and are now trapped behind enemy lines 3. While he's been asleep tactics have apparently degenerated into "Point fleet at enemy and shout charge" so while he's trying to figure a way out of the mess, he needs to give his ships a crash course in basic strategy. Pretty good stuff so far.

A lot of "Metal" pubs/places that did metal nights went tits up once Grunge had been going a few years. A fair few places I loved suddenly seemed to lose half their clientelle inside a few months. Dougals - Stafford - . I spent a lot of Saturdays there and it was as close as I've ever got to having a "local". Marshall Law turned up one night and played a blinder. Turned into a wine bar for wankers. I almost wept. Air Balloon - Portsmouth - Another place I spent some happy Saturday nights in. I stopped going for a bit and when I went back it was damn near empty. Briefly tried turning back into an old-mans pub then closed and got converted into flats. JimmyZ Plub - Portsmouth - Started playing more and more "alternative" stuff. Lost interest and next time I walked past it was gone and they'd put a hotel up instead.

Listening to them right now. There's a sorta-NWOBHm vibe about them but one of the moodier bands. I'm trying to work out who the singer remninds me of.

Never heard the Beau nasty version. The Tygers Of Pan Tang take on Love Potion#9 is prety good though.

I just found out Nightwish are playing Brixton in November. I haven't seen them since Bloodstock in 2003 so I might be up for that.

Warrior Or Assassin - Low budget affair. Female assassin decides to quit her job. Her team mates do not take kindly to this. Way too much pseudo-meaningful dialogue but does feature a guy in a rabbit suit cutting loose with a shotgun. Female lead is fit too.

Are the fucking Olympics over yet?

The DAY the Earth caught fire - City Boy

Just finished: Sarah J Maas - Throne Of Glass. Female assassin is pulled out of a salt-mine to take part in a contest. If she wins, she gets to be Kings Champion. She loses, she goes back to the mine. Not exactly groundbreaking but not bad.
