  1. Updated again: Black Metal from Finland and Germany, Death Metal from Poland and Colombia, Thrash from Paraguay and some Japanese oddness. (Plus a song that sounds suspiciously like "Warriors of the world) http://bigdassorted.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/the-metal-project-2004.html (I also take the piss out of terrible album covers too.)
  2. Guns and Roses Alright so you had a great guitarist but you also had a vocalist that sounded like somebody was stuffing a wild rat up his arse and forgot to tape it's jaws shut. And that was in the studio. Live he was worse.
  3. Glad you got that off the ground. Blasting some Slayer at the moment.
  4. My latest update - songs from 2003 including Power/Trad metal from Spain, Germany, Poland, Switzerland and Kazakhstan! Plus a couple of songs that aren't Power Metal just for variety. http://bigdassorted.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/the-metal-project-2003-pt-1.html
  5. Went to see Motorhead/Anthrax/Diaries of a Hero at Portsmouth Guildhall last night DOAH were ok but nothing special. Typical Kerrang metal really. I did think it was a bit cheeky for them all to troop offstage at one point and leave the drummer playing a solo. Anthrax were fun - Joey Belladonna being particularly hyperactive. Motorhead - Ok but nothing special. They seemed to be going through the motions a bit. Bloody loud though. I had my earplugs in to tone it down a bit and still left with my ears hissing. Oh, and the moshpit suddenly trebled in size when "Ace of spades " came on.
  6. I was listening to 80s pop - Ultravox especially. (Still listen to that band by the way) My little brother was a metalhead so I got used to hearing Maiden, AC/DC. Ozzy. About 1987-8 I finally thought "The hell with it. Let's give this metal stuff a try." Never looked back.
  7. Lady Of The Darkest Night - Lee Aaron
  8. Would this count? Ultravox normally did Synthpop so this one came as a bit of a surprise - decidedly Big Country: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Yo6n75DxQS4
  9. Add me to the list wishing Savatage would get back together. Any lineup would do. And I'd love Seb to get back together with Skid Row. It may yet happen.
  10. I thought it could have been better. The two leads are a bit "High School musical" for my liking but Tom Cruise makes a pretty good rockstar.
  11. The Hard Rock Hell Festival in Wales has been jogging along nicely for a few years now so the promoters have apparently decided to expand somewhat. HRH AOR is a new two day event near Rotherham, Yorkshire 6-7 April next year. Line up so far: Saturday Sunday Tesla Skid Row FM Kip Winger Danny Vaughn Uli John Roth Jeff Scott Soto Moritz Romeo's Daughter Ten Vega H.E.A.T Dante Fox Serpentine JettBlack Nubian Rose Dynazty Osukaru Miss Behaviour Stampede Escape Barbe Q Barbies Estella Newman Mia Klose Knock Out Kane The Morning After Summers Worldsend Buffalo Summer Spill Sixteen I'm sort of tempted, although it's a bit of a trek from where I am website here: http://www.hrhaor.com/information.html Ticket prices do seem a bit high mind you. Thoughts? Comments?
  12. Sounds like a blast. I'm going to have to get my act together and go again sometime.
  13. Good film. Last watched; Monster Brawl Basically Pro Wrestling but with a bunch of classic monsters fighting to the death. Not bad, but I'm convinced some movies are enhanced by alcohol and that's one of them.
  14. Oh, this is priceless! The tell tale crinkling of cellophane...just make sure to have a bag or two of chips up there to "mask" the sound. And it is priceless the things we do to fuel the obsession. Sad Isn't it? grown men having to hide stuff that they buy. My wife doesn't tell/show me every shirt, pair of shoes etc. that she buys. And you should try confronting her about that. Then let us know how it goes. Don't do it man. You'll be facing the creature known as Female Logic and it's like the freaking Hydra - you think you've got it stopped then it just rears up again twice as mean.
  15. Hmm, I'd go with 300 or Sin City. Out of that list, though? X-Men - they managed to take the best elements of the comic and make some good movies. The worst: Catwoman - bore no resemblance to the comic whatsoever.
  16. Updated again, this time with a batch of songs from the 90s. http://bigdassorted.blogspot.co.uk/2012/10/Nineties-Metal-Part-2.html
  17. Rock Of Ages - Could have been better but Tom Cruise does a darn fine Rock God.
  18. Bit of a stretch but: Backstreet Boys - I just Want You To Know, maybe? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDvRs3SceGo
  19. Saw Dragonforce weekend before last - great gig. Support was Alestorm (fantastic band to get drunk to) and the Defiled. (Who I might like if I was 14. But i'm not so I didn't) Next up Motorhead and Anthrax at Pompey Guildhall then next February UFO finally play Portsmouth.
  20. Catchy. I really ought to check out some more of these guys.
  21. Good point. I really ought to mention if I particulary like a song. Thanks for taking a look.
  22. I think I'm Paranoid - Garbage
  23. The Silent Force - Generic low budget cops v drug dealers thing.
