  1. Wow I didn't even notice that. That's pretty damn cool. Thanks for thank you Pete. Backed that is AWESOME!!!!!! Eric you should make the drive this year and meet up with us a DRF. I would really like too...Might have to look into that!! Do it! My wife is taking a road trip out there with my daughter in tow... from Jersey! Come hang out with us! Eric if you can make it the offer is open to crash at my place with the other hooligans that are making the trip. You'll loooove Taco! Chris has dibs on Taco!!! Don't be pissing him off, we don't need "Evil Chris" too!
  2. Let me know how the Gynger Lynn is Wes. The Helix is awesome! Nice choice.
  3. Well Rick, since you cannot have the name Dokken, it's taken. How about Landon? If not Landon, I love the name Gage. If I would have another boy which is not gonna happen I would name him either Landon or Gage. Hopefully in July I will be able to meet little Landon or Gage
  4. I am with Rick on this one. I might as well just keep them all. I guess I could have a worse habit than rock and roll.
  5. I like the S/T from 2005 much better. This one is okay but check out their first one, its freakin' awesome.
  6. Here's my spin on Farcry~ High Gear 1. Love Won't Wait - Great opening track. Pete leaves no doubt that he drives this song and his signature guitar sound shines throughout not only this track but the entire album. Awesome chorus on this one too. 2. Fine Line - This one has one of the coolest opening lines ever. It's infectious. 3. Have It All - The heaviest and my fave on the album. This one just rips from the get go. Pete shines on the solo and throughout the entire song. This song does Have It All. Truly. 4. Heaven - Stellar ballad ala the 80's. 5. Nowhere Fast - Not a fan of this tune at all. This song should have been left off the album. Enough said. 6. Out of Reach - Such a cool change of pace is this track. I love the "na na na na" chorus. While many times this would not work, this time it does. Very cool vocals on this one. 7. Kick Me Down - Nice Cowbell! Great guitar work by Pete. Not sure how he does it but I love the heavy guitar sound and then the sort of "pick strum" acoustic type sound he integrates into this one. Also love the chorus with the "slap in the face" lyrics. Very cool tune. 8. She's Crazy - I love songs that start with vocals. This one kind of plods along with a very cool rhythm and then kicks in with the "sit and spin" chorus. Awesome lyrics. 9. The Same Mistake - A very down to Earth tune. A mid-tempo rocker that pretty much sums up everyone's lives. Big dreams turn to reality. Life is what you make it. Most fall short, but many want more and try to live through their children only to find out that complacency breeds itself. 10. Talk to Me - LOVE the guitar in this one. Also the line "Don't give me that look" as it sounds like it is directed right at the listener with some serious angst. This is a grower as the more I hear it, the better it gets. 11. Those Were the Days - Party rock! Crack a beer and blow the speakers out with your favorite band cruising the lakes! Nothing serious here, just fun, nonsense rock and roll. A good way to end the album.
  7. Okay, after spinnin' this one nonstop since it arrived on Thursday, I want to give my take on High Gear. First off, great packaging. Very cool cover and booklet complete with lyrics and classy pictures of the band. Nicely done. Second, this album sounds great! It has a wall of sound and jumps from the speakers. Great production. Thirdly, it is a kick ass hard rock album which seems so hard to come by these days. Here's my rundown on the tracks: 1. 8. Fine Line Have It All The Same Mistake Heaven Out of Reach Those Were the Days Love Won't Wait She's Crazy Kick Me Down Talk To Me Nowhere Fast (by far the worst track on an otherwise STELLAR album)
  9. Takin' a small break from the Farcry album. Spinnin' Electric Angels~ New York Times. It's a shame this album was never released. A damn shame.
  10. Clean sweep, Warrant. Pretty easy pickin's actually. I do like Winger but they cannot hold a candle to Warrant IMHO.
  11. I disagree. I would rather have the artists autograph the front cover and the cd's themselves if possible. I think it is an honor to have the bands sign them. If they want to sign wherever, its their call. It's their music and they should be able to sign the covers. I actually prefer they sign the covers. I think it adds class to the cd's. Just last week, I mailed my cover of Raguel to Sean McDonald and he signed it along with Kevin. He returned it to me. Very cool. I have no intention of selling any of my cd's that are autographed. It is just for my own admiration. I have all of my Dokken albums signed by Don and many by the rest of the band, depending on if they were together or not. I think my son will appreciate all the signed items. Kudos to the bands that take time to sign stuff and go out of their way like Sean of Raquel. To me, I think it not only adds to the cd covers but creates very good memories of the music and bands.
  12. Yep. I don't see this one leaving my player for a few weeks
  13. All the Mariah albums. Especially the DVD's included in the second pressings. Those kick ass. Huge. I am glad that you gave Reckless~ No Frills a proper release. I wish there would have been some bonus cuts included though. Same with Fierce Heart. Keep 'em coming Sam! I love to "discover" new bands from the best era in rock. The 80's and early 90's. Nice work.
  14. About sums it up. Again, like Dreamhunter, I own the second album and not the first
  15. Angelica~ Never heard either. Crunch~ By a ton. Very good album. D'Molls~ Love the attitude on this one. Pornograffitti Fire and Love~ It has better songs. Sahara~ Another one with better songs and more of the sound I prefer. Feel The Shake~ Due to that song alone. I do like Damned Nation and probably play this album more than the S/T. Vivid~ Cult of Personality. Duh. Vixen~ Toss up here. Two or Three good songs on each album. Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich~ What a great debut album. Play it all the time. Winger~ Madelaine, great tune.
  16. I DVR'd Harper's Island. Looking forward to it!
  17. Spinnin's some band called Farcry~ High Gear Finally!!!! :banger:
  18. My copy arrived today! Finally! I was a bit disappointed when I opened it that it was not autographed and no poster but after reading the comments here, it looks like John is on top of correcting this problem Not that I won't get it signed by Pete and the Boys at DRF! First off, I am very impressed with the packaging. Very nicely done! I just love opening a new cd and digging into the booklet. Harkens back to the 80's for sure! I echo Rick's comments of this being a great Spring into Summer album! Warmer weather, drinking beer, cruisin the lakes and partyin'! (Although now that we are all older, it may include drinking GOOD beer, cruisin the lakes with a child seat or two, but we're STILL partyin'!!) As I was carefully reading the booklet, I noted a particular thank you to some dudes name Rick, Wes and Chad a.k.a. The Dakota Rock Fest Party Crew! How cool is that?? Pretty damn cool!!! Thanks to YOU Pete!!!! We're all back this year for 2009!!! Wes, you bring sunscreen, Rick, you bring the Rockarma business card and leave Evil Rick at home. I will bring Chris again (for Taco)!! Can't wait I have yet to dig too much into the songs, I will comment on them at a later time. I am sure this will not leave my player for quite some time. I will say that after listening to it briefly, I am impressed with the WALL OF SOUND production. Nice work by all on this one! I look forward to playing it all summer long and to see the band live.
  19. No I don't like Wimpy 'Ryche, I like the EP to Empire. My fave is Rage, then Mindcrime, then Warning, then Empire....The EP rocks but it's too short. I always get depressed when it ends so I try not to spin it too often When the EP ends I just play it again because it's so damn good. Homey don't play dat game. Give me ten to twelve tracks bitches. I could be wrong but I believe it was just their demo and was released officially after 'Rage for Order' with that new bounus track. So I don't think it was intended to be an official release originally but I could be wrong. I could be wrong too but I am pretty sure it was released prior to Rage. The original 4 songs were released in 1983 and then the 'Prophecy' tune was recorded during the Rage sessions and the EP was reissued with the bonus track in 1988. So I was right! Either way, Rage is the monster from this band.
  20. I would agree Wes. Although my fave the band has always been Walk In th Shadows....
  21. Kick Ass Kick Ass Tune. No doubt. Pop Goes The Music~ Raquel
