  1. Here's some more John Farnham Gold. The first track is from his "Little River Band" days and is an Aussie classic. The second track is an AC/DC cover that he absolutely nails. The third video is an appearance with Tom Jones on the iconic Aussie TV show, "Hey Hey It's Saturday" from 1990. I've posted this one before. It still blows me away everytime I watch it.
  2. His name was mentioned in the press release. Considering some of the tangents we go on, I think it's a valid post.
  3. An interesting one just brought to my attention via the Justin Hawkins YouTube channel. Green Day plagiarising Pink. How the fuck did they think this wouldn't be recognised?
  4. His solo acoustic version isn't too shabby either. I really could imagine this being played in a gypsy or whatever camp 400 years ago.
  5. Still waiting for an update on this one. Terry Ilous (pronounced E-Loose, as we discovered in another thread) is a GUN. The "Bridger" cover of Sabbath's "Heaven and Hell" popped up in my rotation today. Pure class. One of my favourite covers.
  6. What are your thoughts BTW mate? Why was this never released?
  7. Same vocalist, different band, same track name except for the missing "G", which stands for "Genesis", which is the name of the album this track is from by the band "Talisman", the very same Talisman that the vocalist was not only a member of, but used the "T" from Talisman to form the band name W.E.T. Coincidence?
  8. It's very hard to come up with a top 10, 20 or whatever for any genre, but I reckon when it comes to MHR ballads, this is 100% in the top 10. Also, considering it was released during the Golden age gives it more credibility. This track and album was/is a benchmark for MHR.
  9. BTW, if anyone here mentions the fact that he was born in England, I'll cut them. I'll track them down and cut them.
  10. Maybe we do. Perhaps a trapped spirit is constantly haunted by not being able to participate in the lives of loved ones. That's some deep shit right there.
  11. Talking about John Farnham recently made me dig up this old thread. This really would have been a great album.
  12. Yeah, I've always thought that the Bee Gees being Aussies is a bit of a stretch. Crowded House is another band that we consider Australian, but many may consider as a New Zealand band, although I did hear Neil Finn in an interview regarding that, and he said that the band was formed in Melbourne, so there you go. Yes, Mel Gibson is as Australian as Russell Crowe, but you're on thin ice with your AC/DC comments. That's borderline heresy down here mate.
  13. A nice short YouTube clip from 2020 featuring David Coverdale. I don't know what's more impressive, his voice or his hair.
  14. If there are any non Aussies here who haven't heard the John Farnham album "Whispering Jack", then you should give it a spin. There's a reason why it's ranked number one. It's a Great slice of 80's AOR/ Pop. He was the King of Australia in '86 when it was released and he's arguably still our favourite son. Either him or Dave Warner. Just a little Aussie in-joke.
  15. Welcome aboard mate. Hunting ghosts sounds interesting.
  16. I'm actually very surprised that "The Wiggles" aren't on that list.
  17. I agree about Midnight Oil, some of their early stuff is iconic, but very self righteous. I love Cold Chisel though. INXS is definitely a National treasure, but well known throughout the world as AC/DC is. I reckon our version of Popeda would probably be something like "Skyhooks" or maybe "Hunters and Collectors". There's a few actually.
  18. Brian May and Tony Iommi. I wish this three and a half minute video went for three and a half hours. The last minute is EPIC!
  19. Nice, but a white Lamborghini Countach just screams 80's for me.
