  1. Yes that's right, I've just listened to the tracks that appear on both back to back and i like them both. The rawness works on the mini LP. You can hear they really mean it and the tracks polish up nicely on Grand Unification.
  2. Station - Station Steel Panther - Balls Out Steel Panther - All You Can Eat Steve Harris - British Lion Steve Stevens - Atomic Playboys Stone Sour - Audio Secrecy Stone Sour - House Of Gold & Bones, Part 1 Stone Sour - House Of Gold & Bones, Part 2 Sven Gali - Sven Gali Sven Gali - Inwire
  3. Probably not. I bookmark tracks i really like in to a playlist which i listen to on random when i want to listen to something great. No tracks made it on to that playlist from this album. I'll only spin an entire album again if three quarters or more tracks make it in to my favourites from it.
  4. It's been 10 years since i saw them. (wow 10 years! where has the time gone!?). Anyway, they were good. Great show. Can't remember who supported though.
  5. Listened to this just now and it's a solid album. It's good but not great so probably won't play it again.
  6. Maybe it's the production but they sound average to me. They played better in that youtube clip than on the CD to my ears. It sounded looser and it had a swagger about it.
  7. I gave this a listen today and its not bad at all. A bit safe, a bit simplistic and a bit synth heavy in places but it's certainly not the worst i've heard. That review in an earlier post is definitely too harsh.
  8. Slash - Slash Slash - World on Fire Slaughter - Stick It To Ya Slaughter - The Wild Life Slayer - World Painted Blood Slipknot - All Hope Is Gone Slipknot - .5: The Gray Chapter Stallion - On The Run
  9. Looks like there are 5 UK dates now http://www.teamrock.com/news/2015-06-09/motley-crue-list-final-uk-dates
  10. One of my absolute favourite songs in recent years. +1 great track!
  11. I didn't think much to it either. Sounded amateurish.
  12. No! Stop it! I won't allow it. 'Grand Unification' > debut EP by a long shot, imo. I actually hate that EP; love 'Grand Unification.' Really? Grand Unification is good but i only go back to Build An Army where as there are four brilliant tracks on They Like You Better... Yeah mate, I didn't like anything about the EP at all. I actually sold that one way back when you could actually sell CDs; back when these guys were still very relevant to me. Which is basically saying I really disliked it. But like I said, I love 'Grand Unification.' A lot of excellent songs on that one, imo. Ah hang on, i have the mini LP version of the debut EP which has 9 tracks including some that made it on to Grand Unification (Paint Your Target and Mono) that are marked as fav's from the debut. The other is Palahnuik's Laughter. It's now a close call between the two for me.

    100 Riffs...

Another clever riff based vid that is pretty humorous
  14. I've been thinking about this for a while now but since i've been mixing new releases with some old favourites not heard in many a year i think music needs room in it to rock. A lot of new releases have too much crammed in and become too muddled with layers and layers of different things going on to be clearly heard properly. For instance listening to Shotgun Messiah's self titled album you can clearly hear all of the great guitar work going on and there is actually space between the riffs. That makes me appreciate each magic riff on that release more. Compare that to something like Revolution Saints and i struggle to make out all the things that are going on as is passed by my ears. There is just too much happening at the same time and i just throw it in the average or shit bin. This is happening more and more for me and i put it down to the recording process getting too easy due to technology.

    Books

Gene's book is OK but a little out of date now (it was published in 2000) and of course it's full of his typical "me, me, me" self-serving bullshit. I enjoyed Peter's book more than I expected. His seemed the most honest, he admits "OK, I was a total fuck up" but after a while the constant self-pitying got old I remember not being able to put Gene's book down but it's been a while since i read it. I just couldn't believe some of the things he was coming out with! Just started Paul Stanley's book and it hasn't started out how i thought it would. It certainly reads like a much more intelligent person has written it compared to your average rock star

Read that and really enjoyed it. I laughed out loud in places
  19. Correction, quod erat demonstrandum There are a few good songs in that list, Lynyrd Skynyrd's That Smell is a great tune!
  20. Not the only Geoff. I like it too You should never.......ever......whistle in a song. Just bad. Period. Whistling songs http://www.songfacts.com/category-songs_with_whistling.php
  21. I'm definitely a sucker for a good ballad and Alter Bridge's In Loving Memory is definitely one of those!
  22. 3 Doors Down can knock out a good ballad
