  1. From the first bunch of options, I went with KIX: "Hotwire," 'cause it still "kix" my ass to this day. From the 2nd bunch of options, I went with SKID ROW: "Slave to the Grind," because 15 years later it still makes my stereo its bitch at least once a week. One of the all-time great examples of how to properly merge melody with aggessive attitude.
  2. Yep, "Finnish version of Guns N' Roses" pretty much perfectly sums up this band's sound. Me likey, me likey a lot. I was sampling the song "Nymphomaniac" a few days ago and even my wife admitted that it was pretty catchy, though she would've preferred less sleazy lyrical content. (Funny, she said the same thing about Buckcherry's "Crazy Bitch"...)
  3. Some genuine hard rock masterpieces in this poll, but to quote Highlander, "there can be only one." Well, OK, I guess you could argue that technically there can be two, since there are two polls, but it's really only one choice per poll, so there really can be only one, at least in any one poll. So maybe that means there can be two only ones...or something like that... Aw, screw it. I went with Blue Tears and Firehouse.
  4. In my not-so-humble opinion, "Theatre of Pain" sucks, but I will admit to liking the sappy "Home Sweet Home" (does that make me a sap for sap? ). For "Girls Girls Girls," the title track does it for me. And from "Dr. Feelgood" comes my all-time favorite Motley song, "Kickstart My Heart." Been hooked at that tune ever since I first heard that huge "Whoa! Yeah!" chorus blasting from my college room-mate's stereo.
  5. Let this be a lesson to grooms-to-be everywhere: Don't even TRY to influence your bride-to-be about ANYTHING relating to "her" wedding. It ain't happening. Just shut up, show up at the right time on the right day in a tuxedo, and say "Yes, I do," and that should be the extent of your participation in the wedding process. The rest is up to the bride and her mother (and 1000 pounds of bridal magazines) Now, now, now, you're making a broad generalization (or should I say, a generalization about broads). I actually picked the colors for our wedding, as well as most of the music, which included our dance song (Shakra: "I Will Be There") as well as the song we exited down the aisle to (Signal: "What is Love"). Oh yeah, I also wrote our vows. So, you see, guys, there are gals out there who will let you be more than a passive participant in their (your) wedding. Of course, finding them gals is a whole 'nother matter, and the best one's already taken, 'cause I married her. Oh yeah, to stay on topic, I voted for "King of Hearts."
  6. Not Kiss' best album by a long shot, but if I had to pick a song, it would be "Lick It Up," which is the best of a mediocre bunch.
  7. Well, I could forget Hammerfall and Blind Guardian, but Primal Fear? Never! Oh, and just to stay on topic, I voted for "Something Wicked This Way Comes," which I like to refer to as "my ex-girlfriend's theme song."
  8. Allow me to be the first to vote for Black N Blue. "Chains Around Heaven"..."Wicked Bitch"..."Hold On To 18"...those are some great anthems, and while there are plenty of classic contributions to the hard rock genre on this list, Black N Blue is the album that gets the most play time in my stereo.
  9. These guys aren't bad--there are FAR worse indies floating around out there collecting mad cash they don't deserve--but I think the production hurts them a little. Still, they serve up some solid late 80s/early 90s-style melodic hard rock/hair-metal. To my ears, they always sounded a little like a cross between early Jaded Heart and Britny Fox, with only the aforementioned so-so production holding them back from being something special. However, unless this CD's value has shot up significantly in the last year or so, it's not worth the asking price. I've had 2 copies in the past 2 years...one sold for $185, the other sold for $150. So yeah, it's good but not THAT good, and yeah, it's pricey but not THAT pricey. As always, just my two cents' worth. Keep the faith. Mark
  10. Latest acquisitions... PUMP: "Breakdown to Breakthrough" WARRANT: "Born Again" STORY OF THE YEAR: "In the Wake of Determination" WIG WAM: "Wig Wamania" ROB ZOMBIE: "Educated Horses" DIRTY COWBOYS: "Rode Hard and Put Up Wet" NEW TATTOO: "No Bones About It" LORDI: "Get Heavy" LORDI: "The Arockalypse"
  11. Picked up HISTORY OF VIOLENCE today. Cool little flick with a good story, Maria Bello naked, and a healthy dose of graphic, bloody violence...no wussy PG-13 crap here, folks!!
  12. Picked up HOSTEL (Unrated) on Wednesday. Great, nasty hardcore horror movie that is essentially 40 minutes of N&A (that's norks and ass, in case you were wondering), followed by 30 minutes of sick, sadistic, cringe-inducing torture sequences, capped off by a bloody revenge-fueled finale. In other words, I loved it!!
  13. YOU MUST DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Jarred, did that say mediocre???? What, did I stutter or something? MEEEEEDIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOCRRRRRRRRRRRRE.
  14. Not a really a fan of Bon Scott-era AC/DC (I can see the lynch mob forming already) , but of the albums he appeared on, I like "If You Want Blood, You Got It" the best. When it comes to the Brian Johnson era, "Razor's Edge" slashes apart the competition, though I do like most of the others as well.
  15. What did they give you during that back surgery, Lon? Whatever it was, it's clearly made you lose your mind!! Just kidding, of course, but seriously, how can any melodic hard rocker not love EYES? That debut is perfection personified and it got my vote.
  16. Seems like this release "poisoned" (God, I crack myself up ) some folk's opinion of the band, but I don't hate it nearly as much as many people seem to. It doesn't get a lot of play in my stereo, but I find it to be a tolerable (nothing more) glam/hair-metal album, though yeah, it's a monumental disappointment by POISON standards. Still, I listen to it more than I do "Native Tongue," whatever that means (I know what some of you are thinking, that it means I have terrible taste in music!). Anyway, all that to say I voted for "Shooting Star." Best song on the CD, bar none.
  17. Y&T is one of those bands that, while not bad, simply never did anything for me (c'mon, the least they could've done was wash my truck or something!). That said, if somebody put a double-barreled shotgun (or any kind of shotgun, for that matter) to my noggin' and forced me to listen to a Y&T album or else have my medulla oblongata obliterated, I would pick "Contagious," which I consider the least mediocre of the bunch. I know, I know, dissing Y&T around these parts isn't a popular opinion, but what else would you expect from a guy voted Least Likely To Be Popular in highschool?
  18. Did they come in jewel cases and in unopened/sealed condition? Yep, came in a nice, clean jewel case and was still-sealed. I have no complaints with the quality of the merchandise.
  19. OK, just to give ya'll an update on this seller, I can now verify that, as suspected, the CDs he's selling are Russian versions, so those who are bothered by that hideously evil phenomenon known as Russian imports should beware. You should also be aware that it will take approximately 3 weeks to receive your CD, which may be fine for you patient folks, but is longer than this impatient, I-want-it-now sumbitch is willing to wait, so I will probably (never) buy from Nitro Music again. On the positive side, the LORDI: "Get Heavy" CD I bought from him really rocks!
  20. Hey, I have that too! Is there a support group I can join??
  21. Latest acquistions... KUTLESS: "Hearts of the Innocent" BO BICE: "The Real Thing" (for my wife...honest, I swear!)
  22. I bought LORDI: "Get Heavy" from his eBay store last week. He contacted me immediately with payment instructions, contacted me again once I had sent payment by PayPal, then contacted me again the next day to say the CD had been shipped. So, in the contact department, he's top-notch. Of course, all of that don't mean jack-squat if the CD never arrives! Will keep you posted, but for what it's worth, I don't get a bad vibe from this guy. (Yes, I know, my vibes aren't worth much... )
