  1. If any of you guys are gamers, the new Aliens: Colonial Marines video game will tie into Prometheus. Apparently it was written the same time Prometheus was and Ridley Scott oversaw the entire process. I also played a bit of the pre-beta, and it's gonna be great!
  2. In a fortnight, I shall by drinking the first batch of Mo' Brau India Pale Ale. My taste buds are eagerly waiting!
  3. I think sometimes albums like this (and Journey) get an automatic 90% headstart based on name alone and then all they need to do is put in 10% effort and people will love it. Generally I agree with you but that statement is bollocks. It just depends on your taste. I personally really like quite a bit of the Toto back catalogue, but I do struggle with this album, but then I know people who absolutely love it. Easy as that. I would never give an album a headstart in rating on name alone. Also there have definitely been Journey albums which I didnt rate.....Trial By Fire is weakest Perry album by a long shot. Generations was generally (part from about 4 songs) pretty weak, and even the second half of Frontiers I dont rate that highly even though many Journey fans claim that to be their best album. Clearly Toto and Journey are not your fav style never have been, but then you cant claim them to be 'overrated' cos many love them and with good reason. Cheers It's usually quite the opposite for me. I have an easier time getting into "new" bands, than listening to new music from my favourite artists, because my expectations aren't there. With Electric Boys' And Them Boys Done Swang I literally felt sick before I pressed play--while many will say they felt sick after pressing play--because I wanted it to be amazing, but didn't think it could live up to my expectations. However, it ended up being my favourite album of the year. I believe I gave it a 442.
  4. Oh, this is priceless! The tell tale crinkling of cellophane...just make sure to have a bag or two of chips up there to "mask" the sound. And it is priceless the things we do to fuel the obsession. Sad Isn't it? grown men having to hide stuff that they buy. My wife doesn't tell/show me every shirt, pair of shoes etc. that she buys. And you should try confronting her about that. Then let us know how it goes. Don't do it man. You'll be facing the creature known as Female Logic and it's like the freaking Hydra - you think you've got it stopped then it just rears up again twice as mean. Heh. Best line in a long minute!

  7. Here are my favourites so far. I'm not gonna put them in order, it's too much like work and I simply don't care. I won't criticize you lot, but I personally feel rating albums to be a waste of time. Accept - Stalingrad Blessed By a Broken Heart - Feel the Power The Classic Crime - Phoenix Hardline - Danger Zone H.E.A.T. - Address the Nation Hess - Living in Yesterday SafetySuit - These Times Rick Springfield - Songs for the End of the World USA!USA!USA! - What's Your Name?

  9. I've never really been an AOR fan, preferring mostly Hard Rock. I looked forward to, and sampled quite a few like Great White, Hardline, Tyketto, Europe, Koritni and Van Halen, but none of them really caught my attention and didn't sound much like their older stuff that I enjoy. There's nothing else on my radar other the new Trans-Siberian Orchestra EP later this month and a new Krokus CD in January that I'm really looking forward to. But, I'm always browsing these forums for anything I might have missed. You should check out The Classic Crime's latest release, "Phoenix." Assuming you haven't already.
  10. Guardian's release has been pushed to next year.
  11. Gotthard is one of those rare bands that haven't released anything bad, or even sub-par. I hate that Steve Lee is gone, but I'm glad he was here long enough to give us as much as he did. I haven't got around to listening to "Firebirth," yet. I'm not sure if I want to. Im a massive Gotthard fan,I agree no ba releases, found they got better with age and I really like the new firebirth album,I know its mixed views here but I myself can recommend it Im listening to Giant-Last of The Runaways Steve Lee was a GREAT singer! Lipservice is one of my favorite cds in last 15 + years Need to Believe is my favourite. Probably because it was my introduction to the group. Really late start for you. Considering I was born on the tail end of the prime of our favourite music, I had a late start for all of this.
  12. It's so sad Isn't it? It was killin' me when it came out on Oct. 9th, cuz I had planned to make a special trip to the Best Buy near my office for a first day copy, etc, etc. but as it turned out I ended up being off from work that day, stuck at home with the wife... and I couldn't come up wtih a decent excuse to tear myself away and run out to a store by myself... so it had to wait till I went back to work the following Monday. I'm sooooo f*ckin lame That's not an issue... I hardly ever listen to music 'round the house anymore... it's almost always either in my car or at my desk at work. That really SUCKS! That's so AWESOME!
  13. Happy Happy Birthday, Where All Your Dreams Come True I Celebrate Your Birthday, So I Can Party, Too!
  14. I've read a comic, now!! Hellboy, but it's not listed up there. While both films were not an adaptation of any book, they definitely paid respect to the series. I originally wasn't a big fan of the Golden Army, but after reading a few trade paperbacks, it's indubitably something that could appear in the Hellboy world. So, yeah, I still haven't voted.
  15. Black athletes' names? Shit, a lotta white players got weird-ass names, too. You know many white guys named DaBrickashawn? Thats who they originally were clowning, bro it's pretty funny, and it exactly how they did it, I wish I had more examples. I will post more when I have more time, how about DaCarpetron? or lol, Dan Smith, BYU! thats the cherry on the cake right there, Fair enough, but you'll never find a black couple named Harry and Anita Dick.
