  1. Condition has apparently stabalised: http://www.tmz.com/2010/04/23/bret-michaels-stable-condition/
  2. Well as someone who doesnt even like live albums, I sure as hell wont be rebuying the Jovi albums just for a bunch of live shit. I know they still have a whole load of studio demos that have never been released, despite the box set, so would have rather have had those remastered and stuck on the albums.
  3. Pink Cream - Gone again (Electrified) Wildside - Clock strikes (Under the influence) Skid Row - Midnight/Tornado (S/T) Skid Row - Wasted time (Slave to the grind) Poison - Poor boy blues (Flesh & blood) Pretty Boy Floyd - I wanna be with you (Leather boyz..) Blue Tears - Thunder in the night (S/T) Bon Jovi - Wild in the streets (Slippery when wet) Motley Crue - Time for change (Dr Feelgood) Just a few I can think of.
  4. That sucks that the US is so restricted in so many things like this. I know that for years the US was also way behind most of us on mobile phone tech as well, which just seems so weird for a huge country like that. I was even able to play NTSC disc on my old PS2 once I got the region hack disc for it and a new Scart lead, and even our VHS players were able to play US videos both changing their speed automatically and selecting NTSC. As I say, I have known people in the US with region free players, and they never mentioned the problems, so I just assumed they were as easy to come by as over here, plus I have been to a few websites in my time while looking for DVD unlock codes for friends and family, and they all seem to list a bucket load of DVD players in the US that have unlock codes.
  5. He vanished pretty quickly from the reunion line up pretty quickly, and from reports I read, nobody in the band knew why. You would have to assume it was connected to his death as he was either heavily into drugs or had health/mental issues. Its a shame indeed as the PBF debut is one of my all time fave albums.
  6. Nah. I know a lot of people in the US who have multi region players, and they all play PAL discs. To my understanding DVD player models are made exactly the same, and are then code locked to one region, so essentially most DVD players should be both PAL & NTSC compatible.
  7. News is sketchy at the moment, but it is being reported that he died on the 14th of a heart attack. A lot of people are sceptical after the hoax in 2005 as there has been no official statement yet, but going on the blurb on the Type O website, it may very well be true this time.
  8. well I did mention it was a reissue in the first post. Its way too soon for a follow up to My private hell.
  9. Been making my way through my James Bond DVDs recently, and just sitting here watching Licence to kill. Now it wasnt a song I was overly familiar with (although it rang a small bell as I used to own the soundtrack on cassette around 20 years or so ago), but it certainly sounded AOR related, so I looked the soundtrack up on Amazon. It was Tim Feehan (a guy I own nothing by) with a song called Dirty Love, which seems exclusive to that soundtrack. You dont expect to hear an AOR song in the middle of a Bond film as its usually only orchestral music during the film.
  10. Excellent find. Works out to about $17.00 shipped to the U.S. according to the one I put in my cart. Best price by far thus far. -Dan It can often work out a lot cheaper ordering from the UK Amazon if you want Euro imports as you miss out on all the annoying import fees that US based sites will charge you. I know a lot of people on here were ordering the Steel Panther CD that way before it was released anywhere else. Also, our postage prices are a lot more reasonable than the US services. Whenever I want US imports, I always use Amazon Marketplace rather than order direct from Amazon as not only do they work out cheaper, I also get better postage costs than ordering the same item from the US site.
  11. If its region 0 it will play on any DVD player as long as your tv/dvd player supports PAL.
  12. This is the way greatest hits packages have worked for years. If this is a money grab, then so is pretty much every greatest hits package in the last 25 years or so. As I say, its about reclaiming what is theirs and the bonus tracks can either be seen as a trap to get people to buy them, or a sweetner for loyal fans who buy everything.
  13. Pure genius http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kw5oJoUYTb8
  14. How is it a money-grab? Is you earning a wage by doing your job, a money-grab? These guys who were signed to big labels in the 80s etc, make very little money off of their old recordings these days, but the record labels can make as much as they want by releasing compilations or licensing to soundtracks or various artist albums. Why is it so wrong for an artist to make money off of something they have written and recorded in the past?
  15. Well if you order it direct from the UK Amazon site, it only works out at about $14 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Still-Orchestra-Plays-Greatest-Vol-1/dp/B0030Y10QQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1271163675&sr=1-1 I wouldnt have thought the postage would be more than £4 or so.
  16. I've said it before, and I will say it again, its easy for people to criticise and complain about an artist re-recording the classics, but that is the only way they can make any real money out of old songs that the big record labels own. Whether they are good or bad is neither here nor there, its about an artist getting some degree of control and financial comeback from songs they created, that otherwise they would not.
  17. Its one of the reasons I have always felt he was somewhat overrated as a guitarist. I actually had an argument with someone once over GNR, when they were saying that Slash was the most important factor to the sound of GNR, and the band would be the same if they had replaced Axl. I pointed out that Axl not only was the main song writer and that his vocals were more of a defining part of the GNR sound than Slash, but I also pointed out to him that a lot of stuff he was crediting to Slash, was actually Izzy. Slash is a good guitarist, no doubt, but apart from the odd song here or there, his stuff with Snakepit, Velvet Revolver and now his solo album, has generally been pretty weak. I've tended to find that Duff's music has been better, so its no surprise to me that Velvet Revolver was probably the best Slash stuff outside GNR. I also pointed out that pretty much any decent guitarist could replace Slash in GNR, and despite the fact Chinese Democracy wasnt everyones cup of tea, you would have been hard pressed to say whether Slash was on it or not.

  19. Enuff Z Nuff and Rock Sugar have been added to the bill today!
  20. Yeah it is great when you see kids or younger people at gigs for old school bands (excluding the big names like Jovi, AC/DC etc as you expect them to have a younger following as well), but you pretty much know the bulk of the crowds will be old fogeys like us
  21. Its not a bad video by any means, but you have to laugh that the audience are all teens and early 20s, as if thats the sort of people who attend Ratt concerts these days. Fucking album is great though!
  22. Funny April Fools joke, but not as funny as Lars' hairline.
  23. The album literally only got released over here last month, and even if I listened to radio, they dont play rock on it anymore anyway (at least not rock worth listening to). And anyway, I'm still discovering bands from 20 years or so ago, that I have never heard before, so a year is nothing
  24. I dont have the Crazy Lixx or Reckless Love albums, but I agree with you on this. I was expecting something huge from the Treat album, but it wasnt that spectacular. I also agree that Ratt was far better. The Ratt album was full of hooks and was far better than expected, to the point that I was totally blown away, but this album, while a good solid album, comes across as somewhat generic Euro rock. Maybe it needs to grow on me, but it pales in comparison to some of their older stuff.
