  1. The video to one of the four new tracks on the upcoming greatest hits package has just been put up on http://www.bonjovi.com It seems like a generic mid paced ballad to me, similar to pretty much all their recent stuff. Its not bad, its just not stunning. Certainly not a patch on the best songs from The Circle. Annoyingly they are taking pre-orders on the website as well, which will give you access to another downloadable new song that is exclusive to the pre-order, but its USA and Canada only.
  2. Just stumbled on this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrKgeYUqg2Y
  3. And Imaginator was heavier, hence the record label temporarily shelving it and making the band record the lighter 'Because they can'. As you say though, they really were not that much softer than most other AOR style bands, and were heavier than others. Nelson, Winger and Trixter got a lot of shit back in the day, and it was mostly because of the bands image (or age in Trixters case) that people predjudged them. I bet a lot of people who used to complain about them back in the day either never heard them, or actually liked some of the stuff, but were too 'cool' to admit it.
  4. I pretty much agree with that. Nothing wrong with Shortino, but the album he did just doesnt sound like QR to me (which is weird when you consider that was the first QR album I ever owned). I can honestly say, of all the studio albums, that is my least favourite. On the subject of Banali continuing with the name because its a money earner ... I seriously doubt it is. For starters, after the huge success of Metal Health, the band quick sunk to the lower end of the popularity scale, and the band were never the huge stars that so many other bands of their genre became. On top of that, if it was a guaranteed money maker, how come Banali had to beg fans on Facebook to donate the money to do this documentary he is working on? If it was a guaranteed money spinner, he would have been able to finance the documentary himself.
  5. I'd doubt he is taking a sales step backwards as the will give him more exposure outside of Sweden, as very few people seem to be selling his CDs internationally. On top of that, I doubt he will walk away from his solo career anyway, so it would just be extra revenue on top of his solo album sales.
  6. tbh if I wasnt told that was Mark Huff on vox instead of Kevin, I wouldnt have known any difference. Sounds like a dead ringer.
  7. One name that I always felt was embarrassing, despite the band being great, was Erotic Suicide. Not only was their name bad enough, but the title of their debut (Abusement park) made it even worse. When the CD came out I ordered it from a big chain store over here, and the girl behind the counter laughed at me. I just said to her "Yeah, I know!" I really couldnt blame her for laughing.
  8. The instrumental opener (Wahzoo City) had me somewhat worried, but the second track (Power Trippin) calmed my fears. I will say though I can see why there isnt a ballad as this is most definitely a heavier album than the debut. Not saying there couldnt have been one, I just get the feeling they were going for a ballsier album overall. Its a really good album, but it doesnt live up to the greatness of the debut for me.
  9. Fade away, one of the bonus songs on the new single (I kinda hate calling it that as its not a physical thing, just downloadable) is a great tune, and really should have been on the album. It has a real Iron Maiden vibe to it in the song structure, but doesnt sound like an Iron Maiden rip off, if that makes sense. Worth taking a punt with if you are in the UK, as the whole single to download from Amazon.co.uk was only £1.69.
  10. No problem. You posted a video in the video forum, I posted a Jettblack video in the Jettblack thread ... its all good and all exposure for a good bunch of blokes.
  11. So far with the two singles, plus a Metal Hammer give away, I now have seven bonus tracks. Three are acoustic, two are covers, and two are original songs. The acoustic songs are: Mother fucker Not even love War between us The cover songs are: Let me put my love into you Dangerzone The original songs are both rockers: Chasing love Fade away
  12. I speak to some of the guys online from time to time, so I will see if I can find anything out. I'll also be seeing them in a few weeks, so if I hear nothing online I will ask them then if I get a chance. No real consolation, but as I type this I am wearing my Jettblack t-shirt, and they are good quality print. ps: thats not me in the pic.
  13. His solo album is the best modern rock disc ive heard this year - fantastic rock/pop. Have just listened to both his albums again, and I have to say that on second listen, the second album is a top album. Timeless (which I believe is a co-write with Paul Stanley) is a classic Bon Jovi-esque ballad, and even reminded me of Never say goodbye at the start!
  14. New video just been posted on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GsALXltSMRE
  15. Search for his stuff on youtube. During Swedish Idol he covered songs like Bryan Adams - Heaven, Bon Jovi - Always, Van Halen - Why cant this be love, Kiss - Shout it loud, Iron Maiden - Run to the hills & Skid Row - 18 & life. Think that pretty much shows where he is musically!
  16. Pretty much sums it up for me. Its not even a grower as the more I listen to it, the less I like it. Its not that its bad musically, its just dull.
  17. Just downloaded and listened to both his solo albums, and I have to say his second album seems to have deviated from his obvious love of the classics, and I get a feeling that the record company is trying to steer him into a more modern direction. My guess would be that joining H.E.A.T. would be his way of regaining that rock style.
  18. Never really listened to Heat that much, but have been listening to some of Eriks stuff on Youtube and I have to say his voices is amazing. And who cares that he was on Pop Idol, or whatever they call it, the simple fact is the tunes he was performing would not be performed on the UK or US variants, which makes their version even cooler. I'd be totally stunned if I ever heard Van Halen, Maiden and Skid Row on the UK version.
  19. Have never used the auction part of marketplace (not even sure it still exists), but I will say that there is very little point to selling cheap CDs on Amazon. While there is no listing fee, which is great, the cut they take on lower priced items makes it hardly worthwhile selling. Also, with fixed price listings, everyone who lists the same item after you will nearly always list it slightly cheaper, and you end up having to adjust your prices. A friend of mine who runs a motorsport shop over here also sells on eBay, and says he wont sell on Amazon as it ends up costing him more in the long run. eBid is worth a look at as I believe the customer base is growing, and their fees are minimal.
  20. Not trying to be funny, but I have not seen any in this thread so far, and have only seen positive comments.
  21. Not to the general public, and not enough for them to tour over here. Prior to the song Crazy Nights, they had only ever had 2 UK top 40 singles, both in 1983, and both of them failed to break the top 30. As for albums, five of them reached the top 40 prior to Crazy Nights, and even then only one of them was a 1970s album. Of the three big 70s US acts (Kiss, Alice and Aerosmith), only Alice had any degree of success here in the 70s. Kiss were obviously well known in the rock circles, but for true commercial success, they were virtual unknowns here. Only reason I had ever heard of them was that I collected US comics, and used to see adverts in 70s comics, but even that wasnt until the mid 80s when I started collecting.
  22. Crazy Nights is by far one of the best Kiss albums ever, and everything released prior to it is weak in comparison. I can compile a best of from all the earlier Kiss albums for the truly great tunes, as most of the album tracks were not really that great. Its no surprise really that Crazy Nights was the album that made them go from being a reasonably well known rock band, to a huge rock band, as it was by far their catchiest album up to that point. I know in the USA Kiss were THE rock band of the 70s, but this was the album that made Europe sit up and take notice. Hot in the shade was a big comedown compared to this one, as it seemed to repeat the formula of previous albums of having a handful of great tunes, and a load of filler, but they then redeemed themselves with Revenge.
  23. Well I have to say that I had only heard Eldorado prior to hearing the whole album today, so wasnt expecting anything from this album as everything the band has done since Bruce returned, has not interested me at all as they all sound totally unoriginal with nearly every song sounding like an older, better, song. Also, the seem to have a penchant for choruses that are the same line repeated over and over again. When the intro tune kicked off (Satellite 15), although I didnt think it sounded that great, it did make me hopeful that I was gonna hear a new Maiden album rather than the regurgitated material of the last few albums. Sadly, once Final frontier starts, its just a case of the same old same old. The chorus is abysmal, with its single line repeated over and over again. The rest of the album is no better. Give me any of the albums from the debut right up til Virtual XI, they were all great. Everything after that is pointless.
  24. Nothing new or unusual about that. There has always been gay wrestlers or wrestlers who are not gay, but portray gay or ambiguously gay characters. Pat Paterson, Chris Kanyon and Brooklyn Brawler all spring to mind as actual homosexuals, while there has always been characters like Gorgeous George (the original male one, not the female), Goldust, Rico and Billy n Chuck who have been blatantly portrayed as gay. As for people not wanting to see that, well the popularity of some of those characters over the years would suggest that there most certainly is a market for it, even if it doesnt appeal to everyone. Lets face it, there are still a lot of fans who feel that nobody wants to see women wrestling. I will admit though that the Orlando Jordan thing is tasteless in its execution, but thats no surprise as thats exactly what I have come to expect from TNA these days. Just look at the angle with Samoa Joe going round holding knives to peoples throats etc.
  25. when I saw them a couple of months ago they performed in live. at the time I hadnt heard it before, but it slotted into the set quite nicely (you could tell that the bulk of the crowd didnt know it either as very few people were singing along, but it didnt stop them going mad jumping up and down etc).
