  1. Nice one! I liked the Gimme Gimme album. I'll check these out.
  2. I just had a listen to 'Closer to the Edge' - pretty good song. I don't mind this band at all. I'll definately take your advice and give the whole album a go soon.
  3. Really?? Where did you get that info from? AOR FM says they're from the USA.
  4. The latest E-Mail - still crapping on about illegal downloading, The Beatles and the AFM...These guys really just don't get it do they!!! We paid for the CD's so stop talking to us about illegal downloading and theft!!! The fact is that Rogers communication with the fans right throughout has been almost non existent. Roger what about an apology from you for telling some of your most supportive fans that they don't matter. An apology doesn't mean much coming from someone else. "My name is Scott Cupp and I am helping 101 South founder, Roger Scott Craig, with his SUPPORT MUSICIANS awareness campaign now being endorsed by many people connected to the Beatles and by the largest Union in the world, the AFM. Please see attached document which will be featured in January's edition of the AFM's monthly newspaper, The Overture. By bringing the most powerful musician's union in the world together with people connected to the most successful band in the history of Rock and Roll, Roger hopes to raise awareness of the very unfair nature of people thinking it is cool to use ILLEGAL file sharing sites to avoid paying the hard working musicians out there. In fact it is very uncool, in fact it is called THEFT. It is estimated that up to 95% of music is now being stolen online and Roger feels that by educating the next generation about the use of illegal sites to avoid paying for music we can start to reverse this trend. We fully understand that technologies in the future will constantly create change within the music industry, but by using some new and amazing technologies, we can soon create a much better platform than ever before for artists and songwriters whose income is dependent on people paying something for music. The 101 South CD's you have paid for will soon be shipped out to you by us. However, delays due to shipping the CD's from Germany to California then to Missouri then back to California then back to you in Europe are taking considerable time and this explains the delays but the CD's will ship very soon and they will then be personally autographed by both Roger and Gregory Lynn Hall, the vocalist with 101 South. We also intend adding something special to this package in order for us to say thank you to you for being 101 South fans.. In the event that you want a full refund, this will be sent out to you immediately and please contact me as I am handling the reimbursements for those of you who no longer want to wait for the new 101 South CD's. I will be using paypal to compensate you in full and Roger has no intentions of ripping anybody off. Please be aware that Roger will be making no money whatsoever from these transactions and has provided you with a brand new 101 South CD for which he will receive nothing. In other words Roger has worked for free in order to hopefully provide you with music we hope you will enjoy. Because 95% of music is stolen, the budgets for independent artists have declined to the point where it is almost impossible to make any money from this new music. The costs of the musicians alone on this new 101 South Album exceeded the advance Roger received from the distributor. The Distributor also blames illegal downloading of music as the main reason why budgets offered to artists are now 1/10th what they used to be in the old days when most people did not mind paying for quality music. Apart from the costs of individual musicians, Roger also had to pay engineering costs, mastering costs, electrical utility bills, equipment repair and rental costs as well as all the costs involved with the artwork and graphic design work for this new album. These costs were paid by Roger but sadly he doubts whether he will see any monies in the future to compensate him for these expenses. Please contact me immediately letting us know if you do not mind waiting another week or two in order to receive your package. We intend to respond immediately to your request should you want an immediate refund. Please ask your friends not to steal music using illegal file sharing sites but rather support musicians like Roger by asking your friends not to BURN multiple copies for their friends and families. If you want to contact Roger personally, please use this email address (roger@101south.com). Best wishes and a very Merry Christmas to all you 101 South fans. Scott Cupp"
  5. I tried a test e-mail, and the e-mail he listed is kaput... go figure Yeah that E-Mail hasn't been working all along. I have another E-Mail address for him but the only messages he answers are ones sent using FaceBook. Have you seen his latest comments talking about McDonalds and ice cream stores But he doesn't need to worry when he's got 2 former CEO's of the Beatles on his side. Dick!
  6. 10 years on from their awesome 'Everything You Want' album and Vertical Horizon have a new album out - 'Burning the Days'. I'm playing it for the first time as I write this and so far I'm loving it. Will post my full thoughts later. I know there's a few VH fans on this forum. Anyone heard the new disc yet?? 1. All Is Said and Done 4:24 2. The Lucky One 3:55 3. The Middle Ground 4:25 4. I Believe In You 3:23 5. Save Me From Myself 4:17 6. Carrying On 3:36 7. Back To You 3:34 8. Can You Help Me 3:59 9. 7. I can't believe this - quoted below is Roger Scott Craig's next E-Mail to Andrew, unedited. Never in my life have I heard an artist speak to their most loyal fans & supporters in this way. That last line speaks volumes. You know Roger, wait until your fellow musicians, the AFM and your so called friends from the Beatles read these messages. I doubt your going to have anyone on your side if that's your position. I tell you what Roger, your going to have one hell of a time trying to get your message across with that attitude. What a disgrace. "88 PEOPLE UPSET BUT MILLIONS COMING ON TO MY TEAM SOON YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON HERE DO YOU???? JUST WATCH WHAT HAPPENS WHEN MY FRIENDS FROM THE BEATLES COME TOGETHER WITH THE LARGEST UNION IN THE WORLD 88 PEOPLE UPSET WILL NOT MATTER!!!"
  8. Wow could Roger have sounded like any more of a wanker? I'm afraid this marks the end of my interest/support for Roger Scott Craig and 101 South. Never again will I support him or any music he is affiliated with. He has taken my money, made countless promises and excuses and delivered nothing. What a huge disappointment. I've supported Roger, 101 South, Harlan Cage and various other projects he's been involved with over the years and this is how he thanks me - stealing my money. Well mate - why don't you shut the fuck up about your buddies from the Beatles and your "95% of music is stolen" phrase and give these 88 people their money back! What a hypocrite you really are! How can you complain about people not supporting the artists when you rip off those fans who are doing their best to support you and purchase CD's. What a joke! And I really think you owe Andrew an appology after all the support he has given you over the years. Not to mention the 88 people (probably more) that you owe money to. I can see your new cause of doing something to prevent illegal downloading is going to be such a success - NOT! What a joke!!
  9. Yeah I hope someone from the band stumbles across this thread one day and fills us in on the details. Dreams and Garrison are the two of the most unrecognised and most incredibly awesome bands I've ever heard.
  10. I imagine most of you guys - Matt, Geoff, Lindsay, Andre etc. will all be trying to make this. Have they ever played in Oz before?? Stryper will bring their 25th Anniversary Tour to Australia for the following dates: Melbourne: Wednesday 7th April 2010, Billboard The Venue Sydney: Thursday 8th April 2010, Metro Theatre Brisbane: Saturday 10th April 2010, Hi Fi Brisbane
  11. Ok here's an xmas present for anyone who hasn't already heard it and craves real catchy melodic hard rock songs. I discovered this 4 track release over at one of the blogs. Apparantly there is next to nothing know about this band - extremely rare and unheard of. I'm not even sure if this was intended to be an official release or a demo, but certainly the sound quality is on the lower side (though more than acceptable) which leads me to beleive it may have been a demo. You can read more over at AOR FM where these songs are desribed as "very much like a cross of english aorsters Moritz and Aussy favourites Roxus. With a dash of Blue Tears". Now what a comparrison!! I'd also through in Garrison as another comparrison (which I've been using a lot lately). 1. Drive you crazy 2. The fear of being alone 3. Does it feel like you want it 4. Run The band is from the USA and apart from a track listing and cover artwork, I have no more info on this band. I'd love to know more about them including a release date and band members if anyone knows. It's probably safe to say that this is out of print and extremely rare, but I won't post a link for fear of breaking the rules of the forum. So you can either head over to the Kissmar blog and do a search for it or send me a PM and I'll help you out. Either way, you must hear these songs.
  12. Anyone enjoying this album?? I've found it's a real grower. Some excellent tracks on here. 'In Pieces', 'I'll Be Home Tonight', 'Angel Tonight', 'When It Comes To Love', 'I Can't Give Up' and 'Ready' are all excellent songs.
  13. Still lots I haven't heard but my year is shaping up something like this...haven't included modern rock in here Top 10: W.E.T. - S/T Grand Design - Time Elevation Place Vendome - Streets Of Fire Danger Danger - Revolve Foreigner - Can't Slow Down Dare - Arc of the Dawn Winger - Karma KISS - Sonic Boom Keith Urban - Defying Gravity Outloud - S/T 11-15 Blanc Faces - Falling From the Moon AOR - Journey to L.A. Voices of Rock - II: High & Mighty Hot Leg - Red Light Fever The Psychics - S/T Most disappointing album = Bon Jovi
  14. More stuff about Carousel I found on the net. - The band is from Austin, Texas - Don Howell was the original lead singer and was later replaced by bassist Rob Ferebee. I'm not sure which songs each of them sings but I believe that some of the above demos are sung by Howell and the rest by Ferebee. - They were featured on the soundtrack for 80's movie Beach Balls.
  15. I came across a CD of demos from this early 90's Melodic Hard Rock band, Carousel. I know very little about them except that they released two demo cassettes in 1992 and 1993. In 2003, both of these demo cassettes were combined onto a CD as a bootleg by Time Warp Records. It's unfortunate that these songs are only available in demo quality (and on Time Warp) as they are truly awesome songs and easily comparible to some of that unreleased stuff by Garrison. The last four tracks 'Tell Me Why', 'Heaven Was Calling', 'Time Stops' and especially 'Hold Back' are absolutely essential listening if you like Garrison, early Harem Scarem ballads etc. The other songs are really good as well. Anyone else heard these songs/know anything more about the band? 1. The Feeling Is Right 2. Kickin And Screamin 3. 19 And Nervous 4. Tell Me Why 5. Heaven Was Calling 6. Time Stops 7. Hold Back Don Howell - Lead vocals Rob Ferebee - Lead vocals, bass Steve Miller - Drums, vocals Louie Beltran - Guitar, vocals Matt Clark - Guitar, vocals Jay Haygood - Guitar, vocals
  16. Yeah I liked that one too. But at 7 mins it seemed a bit too long.
  17. Haha, I was nearly going to start a thread on this album last night. The singer at times sounds like Daniel Johns from Silverchair. There's a few tracks I just don't like much at all but on the whole a pretty cool album. Fav tracks: Galaxy Just Save Me Lie to Me Don't Cry Enemy Keep the Pain Alive What It's Like Enemy
  18. Have to agree with Geoff I think my fav track on here is '8AM'; followed by 'Deja Vu'.
  19. I heard five tracks from this cool late 80's MHR band. Never heard of them before but they have a current MySpace page and I think are planning on releasing some of their old material and possibly some new stuff as well. They have a brand new song called 'Mary' which you can hear on the MySpace page and IMO it kicks ass and sounds better than the bands old songs. Would love for this band to release some new stuff in this style. The band was formed in NYC by Mike Ledesma who previously fronted a band called Panther. The band also includes Ross Boughton (bass player from the Spin Doctors), Jack Styslinger (guitars) and Craig Hollander (drums). According to their MySpace page, the band opened for big name acts like Vince Neil, Twisted Sister, Child's Play, Love Hate, Dee Snyder, Firehouse, Ace Frehley, Savatage and Paul Dianno. So I'm guessing a few people around here have probably heard of or even seen this band live at some point. Mike Ledesma is now in a Foreigner tribute band called Head Games and also played at Rocklahoma with Wild August. He has also worked with Ted Poley and Vic Rivera. The old material may not appeal to all, but definately play their new song 'Mary' and see what you think. MySpace
  20. This is pretty damn excellent. Everyone should at least hear 'Deja Vu' - brilliant song. But the whole album is killer. Great find!
  21. Anyone know where I can buy this from. Did a quick search and found nuthin'. Anyone heard it?
  22. Female fronted hard rock from Sweden. Apparantly they had 3 albums? All are near impossible to find. The 2006 album 'Freeway' was a Japanese release I think. Glen I have sent you PM about the first album from 2003.
  23. Saw over at MR.com, these guys have a new EP 'Three Songs & the Truth' available at I-tunes. Not sure if you can buy a physical CD anywhere - website is outdated and the MySpace page doesn't give away any details either. But you can listen to some of the new songs on their MySpace page and they're pretty damn good I reckon.
