  1. & another one.............thousand.
  2. Adelitas Way - Demos Place Vendome - Streets Of Fire
  3. I dunno, I just found myself a little bored listening to the Idol live performance. Must admit that I havent listened to the actual single yet.....so I'll check that vid. As Tim said the live vocal performance was only OKish (especially after watching Adam Lambert who was fucking awesome....as always) so perhaps that's what turned me off slightly.
  4. I'm glad you said that, was thinking the same thing (from the soundbytes). Not a patch on the Johnny Lima IMO.... No question, not even on the same playing field IMO. I think its a bit closer than that, but JL definitely gets the nod from me. 'Make You Cry', 'The Stranger In You' and 'Fire & Ice' are a killer trio of songs on the Chris Laney, but overall the JL just has a more listenable sound (better production), better vocals, better solos and the real killer songs are just plain better that CL. Oh and better hooks too. Where Laney takes home this battle though, for me, is that the best songs on that crucify the best on the Lima disc and Laney writes much better hooks. Well for me the 2 best songs on either album are 'Hate To Love You' and 'Caught In The Middle'...both of which are of course JL tracks Also after spinning both a few times, I was humming some of Lima songs but not the Laney ones....which to me spells better hooks. Cheers
  5. Yeah I listened to it again last night just to check I wasnt going mad. So, first 4 tunes all v good....then we get that ballad. Im still not keen on this song....I dunno what it is about it but it just doesnt click. Its OK, but to repeat an OK ish song at the end of the disc is a mistake IMO. Track 6 is nice. Like that one. Then tracks 7/8/9........Mmm. I kinda like them in a very safe, sort of way. All 3 are quite melancholy tho. What I would have liked is a big over the top, uplifting tune in there say like 'Haight Street' from last year, and then another ballad to close the album - but a new tune and better than the other ballad.....then it would have been competing for top spot. Make sense??
  6. Geoff, I know youre a busy man but try to keep up http://heavyharmonies.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=21226

The thing is, that I don't know of any songs I dislike on the likes of Fallbrooke, Papa Roach, Halestorm, Silverstein etc. Two of these Nural songs are better than a lot of stuff on other discs, but the other 4 are about on par with the majority of those 4 albums. And the other 4 songs on Nural are no good. Im gonna try to hear the Halestorm and the Silverstein, if they are as good as you say then they might be worth picking up. Cheers

Ha, yeah its nowhere near HEAT etc. Not bad for a listen though. I dont know....I suppose I post all this stuff in case someone here loves it and they might not pick up on it?? Cheers
  9. Nice... then you can rock that shit up. The last track they played at my wedding (about 2am) was............... Iron Maiden - Hallowed By Thy Name fucking classic........what a way to end.

  12. Am playing the sound clips from that one (waiting for it to arrive in the post). I know you're not a huge fan but I love it - exactly what I hoped Hinder would sound like. I really like it too, but its nowhere near Hinder IMO. np Chris Laney - Pure Johnny Lima - Livin Out Loud
  13. God what's wrong with you 2. Are you serious when you say the quality doesnt fall off a cliff on the second side of that Fallbrooke disc (by that I mean tracks 7/8/9....cos 6 is good)......and then at the end they repeat that ballad which truth be told is not that great in the first place. Just wrong. Also I really like that American Radio album. Does fall away a little at the end, but pretty solid throughout. I havent heard Silverstein and i've only listened to Halestorm on myspace (which I really liked) so sounds like I need to check those out. However I do have the feeling that come July Daughtry and Adelitas Way are going to clean up in the modern stakes this year. Both have the potential to top the pile IMO.
  14. Yeah the more you listen to it the better it gets. Love the lyrics and as I said killer solo to boot. Cant wait to get this album so I can play the shit out of it (even tho this song wont be featured)

Yeah fair enough mate. Each to their own.....I would have thought though that 6 killers (and let's face it most of those songs you describe as 'gems' are better than virtually anything on any other album...modern stakes) would lift it a little higher. I personally love tracks 2 & 8 cos they give some variation in sound and both (for me at least) have really good choruses. Anyway, the bottom line is that this kills Fallbrooke which if I did a similar exercise would result in about 4 gems, 5 fillers and a repeat track (!). Go figure. PS Papa and AR kill Fallbrooke too :-))
