  1. I have this, the front of mine isn't blurry and the stars are pretty easy to make out. It does only have folded front insert though.
  2. I'd just like to point out, it is possible to get a new CD from a mail order place with scratches. It happened to me before. Some companies (like Sun City from my past experiences) will send their CDs to resellers without jewel cases (the CDs are in spools). Then the reseller will seal them up. So the CDs rubbing together can scratch them up some. I bought several SunCity CDs from a reseller and sent them back because of scatches and the reseller sent me some unscratches one's back. So it can happen. Probably doesn't happen that often though.
  3. I do have quite a few rare original CDs, wouldn't consider myself an huge collector though. You would be surprised at what kind of stuff you can pick up with some scrounging and patience! I don't really care about the bootlegs bringing down the prices of originals because from what I see in most cases they really haven't. If you are in CD collecting because you want rare CDs worth a lot of money then you are in it for the wrong reason. The thing I hate is that they are making them look EXACTLY like the originals to fool people and rip them off. That's what bugs me, when people try to pass them off as originals and basically fuck them.
  4. I have this and it is silver pressed. Didn't get mine from CD Baby though.
  5. I must be way behind because I finally got the original Trilogy on DVD to replace my VHS tapes.
  6. The key is songs that people know and can sing along with. There are lots of songs that us "hard rock" fans know, but your run of the mill "house wife" wouldn't, that's the crowd I would target cuz if they know it then everyone will (and lets face it, you are probably targeting an audience full of MILFS, at least that's who'd I'd be targeting if you get my drift).
  7. I think the key is to find those "guilty pleasure" songs that everyone knows and loves but doesn't want to admit it AND they know all the words to so they can sing along, here's some I think would be cool to cover (I have no idea if any 80's hard rock bands have covered any of these songs) Village People - YMCA Toni Basil - Mickey Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen Styx - Mr Roboto Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger If you do end up putting this together Ty let me know, I may end up making a road trip! I have a good buddy here in Kansas City who is in a band and into the KC music scene, and he did the same thing you are talking about, but it was a Journey tribute band. Each of them even dressed up like the members. One of the best times I ever had at a concert, everyone just loved it!
  8. If I were a camel I'd be sticking my head in the sand about now. What a crap fest today's game has been so far (and we are playing one of our easiest games of the year against the Bills for crying out loud). I need to find a new sport to watch I'm afraid.
  9. Metallica needs to start taking lessons from Megadeth! Stick with what you are good at!
  10. Forgot to say thanks for the info. They didn't blow my socks off listening to the songs from those links, glad I didn't bid (but I was planning on bidding like $15 bucks, not in the hundreds).
  11. I don't know, the CD and artwork didn't give me the impression of a CD pressed back in 1990. I think it was probably released in the last 5 years or so.
  12. Curious is an understatement. This went for crazy money for 3 tracks, I was going to bid until the price went through the roof, I'm very curious about what they sound like: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190568168249?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  13. I always loved Nitro but couldn't stand Jim Gillette, he sounds like a chipmunk sucking helium.
  14. I had a bad experience with him as well, but I was the buyer. CD never showed up and after contacting him he sent me the tracking number, but when I looked it up the CD went to a completely different person in a completely different state. I did end up getting my money back but he was the biggest prick to deal with.
  15. Picked up a bunch of Retrospect stuff for cheap this week (like about 1 buck a pop cheap). 16. 2 questions Dan, what have you been smoking and can I have some too?
  17. Why the fuck won't this stupid thread die?
  18. Well, cratch the Snakepit Rebels off the list, arrived in the mail today and the damn CD is cracked (like someone shot the CD with a BB gun).
  19. Just an FYI - but matrix numbers are not a reliable way to determine if a CD is a bootleg...the numbers can match on a bootleg CD, the bootleggers can find out what the matrix numbers should be and put them on their CDs too. You need to look at what the matrix numbers look like, not what they actually are. Most record pressing companies have a distinct font they use (like Nimbus for instance).
  20. Bootleg - S/T (Metal Mayhem Reissue) Dio - Last In Line (West Germany Target Pressing) High 'n Dry - Hands Off My Toy! Snakepit Rebels - S/T (Japanese Import)
  21. I've traded with Adriano many times with absolutely no issues. I've never gotten a bootleg from him and really never would have expected to. We have had some trades fall through but it is has always been about his prices. I definitely agree they are pretty high, but I guess they are his CDs so he can ask whatever he wants for them. So I'm sorry you have been having bad luck with him lately. But as far as my experience with him, it has always been positive.
  22. I think it just comes with seeing a LOT of CDs throughout the years and knowing how to spot a legitimately old CD vs a CD pressed recently. Its pretty easy to tell after you see enough of them. Some boots however are very hard to tell vs others (most are just blatantly boots from my experience). One suggesting is starting a category of thread where people can scan images of their CDs in question and post it so others can check it out and compare it to their CDs. That would be helpful I think.
