Captain Howdy
I have always called it "Sammy Hagar" as the album had no name on it, and I never even knew about the whole "I never said goodbye" name til years later. Its the only full solo album I own by Hagar other than a best of CD, but as most of the songs on the best of never blew me away, I never bothered with anything else. And anything released post VH has been pretty dull for me, including Chickenfoot. That said, his time in VH wasnt amazing either. Some great songs came out of that era, but a hell of a lot of dull tracks as well. He is one of those artists to me like ZZ Top, AC/DC and Iron Maiden etc. When they nail a song they really nail it, but I could condense their career output into only handful of albums worth of great songs. I agree with most of this.....that is the only Hagar album I own too. Might check out Standing Hampton and VOA though as they sound very good according to the comments. ZZ top could be condensed to just 3 great songs (and that's it).....agree to a lesser extent re AC/DC and Iron Maiden - they both have a hatful of excellent songs imo......although more recent output has been sketchy. Jez
Of his studio albums 'Standing Hampton' for me too, although my fave is the brilliant' Loud And Clear' live disc.
