I want to know what's the best aor/metal shop in the world(not only on the web).

Used cds too, prices, extension, back catalogue, out of print editions, reissues etc...

Tell me something of your prefered shops.

If you come in Italy go to Markuee in Milano. The best in my country, but no low prices(no less than 12 euros). They often put used cds in the news(out of print) zone. Not very honest, but i found in PREFECT conditions:Wired up(Paris),Out of the silence(Dare),Tim Karr,Sheriff,Alias,Meanstreak,Time will tell(F.Angel) and more...

My 2 favorite shops at the moment:

HANGLOOSE - They have a lot of stuff and are very aware of the genres in general...Only problem 'bout Hangloose is that they sometimes take a looooong time getting your CDs shipped

SCHMANKERL - They do not represent as many artists and complete collections as Hangloose but they're lightning quick on shipping and their packaging service is perfect.

Great offers there from time to time...

I'm a big fan of NEH Records... super quick shipping (they're a US company) and decent prices.

NEH Records

I use them alot also Christine.

I also look for used CDs on Amazon, Half.com.

Plus if its mainstream I have a friend who owns a record store. So he gets anything in that sense for me.

Haha, tell me about it! I have set a trade with Jurgen [one of the hangloose co-owners] more than 2 months ago and still waiting to hearing on the final details from him  and he was the one who hunted me down on the trade, so go figure...

Haha - I've experienced the same a couple of times...They have a "tendency" to sell a lot of stuff they don't really have in stock anymore...So they have to track it down first which we all know can take time!!

But, on the other hand, when they finally get it back in stock they're very polite and gives you top service...I still think it's a reliable site although you might have to wait some time <_<

I do most of my buying on eBay, but if I'm looking for newer stuff and want to buy a larger quantity, I'll buy from AOR Heaven. Georg is great to deal with, ships very fast, and prices are reasonable.

Yup....me too. There or Amazon.com.

www.CDBaby.com is a great site too!!

MJ only likes CDBaby because of thier we have shipped message about sealing the CD in a good box and marching it in a parade to the post office and all that other crap they say.

You see she believes they really do that.

Hangloose used to be one of my all-time favorite places, but I haven't purchased a CD from them in years... The answer lies in the aforementioned responses.

I'm sure you all going hunting in your local used record stores (Wherehouse Records is GREAT), but do yourselves a favor and check every pawn shop in town. I cannot begin to tell you how many truly awesome and rare CD's I've pulled out of those places for under $5.00.

GEMM.com is another great place to start a search, and Ebay is, of course, the Holy Grail.

My buddies PJ and Lonnie (Londog) are great sources if you're looking for a truly rare disc. PJ has the biggest operating network of traders in the world, and Lonnie has bailed me out on more than one occassion.

Most of all, don't be afraid to ask... Someone out there has exactly what you're looking for.

Pawn shops are great, but majority of the time CDs in pawn shops are pretty damn beat up..very seldom have I ever been able to pull a disc in somewhat decent condition..

Ebay, ImpulseMusic.com, Pawn shops, R.A.M.Music.com. Just to name a few. :usa:

By the way, Dont pass up the horrible cds at pawn shops. Provided they are not really dicked up you can have them buffed. I always offer the pawn shops a buck for scratched cds and have had them buffed to new condition. There is a cd shop in Charlotte (repo records) that will buff them. Its a few bucks and well worth it! They cant do wonders but can improve most.

eBay, half.com, djangos.com, several local used shops here in Cow-lumbus. For new stuff, it's deepdiscountcds.com, Amazon.com &/or Target/Walmart/Best Buy.

    • New album 'Universal Human Desire' out March 31. From Lions Pride Music: Outlasted is a professional rock band hailing from Norway, known for their captivating blend of AOR (Album-Oriented Rock) sound. Formed in 2010 by guitarist Terje Fløyli and keyboard player Odd-Børge Hansen, the band's unique journey began with the exchange of song ideas through traditional mail, rather than the ubiquitous digital communication we now know as email. Despite residing in different cities, Fløyli and Hansen forged a deep musical connection, fostering their shared passion for AOR by burning CDs and sending files back and forth. Gradually, their collaborative efforts materialized into a collection of songs that formed the foundation of their debut album, "Into the Night," which was released in 2016 through Melodic Rock Records. To bring their vision to life, Outlasted enlisted the talents of drummer Rune Bryn and bassist Rickard Johannesson, who contributed to the recording of the album's bed tracks. However, the band's lineup experienced changes, leading to the recruitment of vocalist Glenn Wikran, drummer Rune Erling Pedersen, and bassist Aleksander Schjølberg. The release of "Into the Night" garnered international acclaim, captivating listeners worldwide and receiving high praise from critics. Notably, the music video for their hit single, "Someone Like You," quickly gained viral popularity, spreading like wildfire across the internet. In 2019, Outlasted unveiled their highly anticipated sophomore album, "Waiting for Daybreak." The CD edition, limited to 500 copies, sold out within a mere three months, attesting to the band's growing fanbase. Tragically, shortly after the album's release, their record label underwent a change in ownership. Consequently, the physical copies of "Waiting for Daybreak" became coveted collectors' items. However, the band remained undeterred, navigating these challenges with resilience. Prior to commencing the recording of "Waiting for Daybreak," Outlasted underwent another lineup transformation, bidding farewell to drummer Rune Erling Pedersen and bassist Aleksander Schjølberg. Their vacant spots were filled by drummer Andreas Jentoft and bassist Lasse Ingebrigtsen, both of whom contributed their exceptional skills to the band's subsequent music videos, "Chains of Destiny" and "After All These Years." In 2023, Outlasted inked a significant record deal with Lions Pride Music, solidifying their global reach. Currently, the band is diligently crafting their third studio album, poised for release on March 31, 2025. With their unwavering dedication and unwritten chapters awaiting, Outlasted is set to captivate audiences once again with their irresistible AOR sound, leaving an indelible mark on the rock music landscape. Outlasted is: Glenn Wikran – Lead Vocals, Backing Vocals & Guitars Terje Fløyli – Guitars Odd-Børge Hansen – Keyboards & Backing Vocals Lasse Ingebrigtsen – Bass Andreas Jentoft – Drums 01. Weight Of The World 02. Save Your Love 03. Tonight 04. Lost Without You 05. Afraid Of Love 06. Monkey On My Back 07. We Are One 08. Last Of The Runaways 09. Think Of You 10. Last Time She Cried 11. Fallin’ For You 12. Coming Home
    • Love a bit of Kim. She's done some real quality albums over the years, especially her first 5 or so albums. 'Here Come The Aliens' from 2018 was a real return to form and the 2 latest singles promise a lot for the new album too.
    • Nothing has really stuck with this tbh, so a  solid album without blowing me away.
    • Great album..one of the better MR discs this year
    • A good album and their best in quite a while. 'Don't Wanna Say Goodbye' and 'State Of Emergency' are my picks.
    • It's ok, although a little weak on the original songs if  i'm honest. Of the  6 New England covers, whilst quite well done, they don't improve or add anything compared to the fantastic original versions, although  'I'm Not Down', which was meant for the unreleased 4th New England album, is the clear winner on this set.  Not an album that will get played very often, but not a bad effort.
    • Yep...musically very sound, but a little bit too 'preachy' for me.
