Yep, fully agree that this was actually a big surprise, how good it is. I liked the previous one, but this is a massive step up. -
The day everyone's been waiting for, new "video" day! So here's the fourth track from the album. The first "ballad." Bit of a cringe-fest, just the way I like it; The media whirlwind around this release has been so massive too. Write-ups flowing in; “The way the band infuses killer hooks, with cringey lyrics and inconsistent audio quality across the album is a thing of true marvel!” - anonymous source, with a name that rhymes with Spaino. “The videos that accompany each song are stunning; the way in which they have absolutely zero reference or compatibility with the music. The mind-numbing old goPro footage combined with the at-times-excellent (but seemingly darkened for YouTube) photography, is really something to behold!” - anonymous source, with a name that rhymes with Flaino. “With almost 30 overall views on YouTube, and close to 50 individual song streams, across all streaming platforms, gAIno seems to be a train that cannot be stopped. lol, he's making a bit of shambles of getting the story out. Might have been better just to tell it properly, in full. Little gripe I have, and a true crime YouTube channel I watch does it too... but calling criminals "gentlemen" just irritates me.

Different tastes indeed. 'Love is for suckers,' 'Hot love' and 'You are all that I need' and the only keepers from their entire discography, for me, personally. The second Widowmaker and the Desperado album are heavier and not that great, but I thought the debut Widowmaker album was still pretty much in that melodic hard rock pocket.

New album 'Universal Human Desire' out March 31. From Lions Pride Music: Outlasted is a professional rock band hailing from Norway, known for their captivating blend of AOR (Album-Oriented Rock) sound. Formed in 2010 by guitarist Terje Fløyli and keyboard player Odd-Børge Hansen, the band's unique journey began with the exchange of song ideas through traditional mail, rather than the ubiquitous digital communication we now know as email. Despite residing in different cities, Fløyli and Hansen forged a deep musical connection, fostering their shared passion for AOR by burning CDs and sending files back and forth. Gradually, their collaborative efforts materialized into a collection of songs that formed the foundation of their debut album, "Into the Night," which was released in 2016 through Melodic Rock Records. To bring their vision to life, Outlasted enlisted the talents of drummer Rune Bryn and bassist Rickard Johannesson, who contributed to the recording of the album's bed tracks. However, the band's lineup experienced changes, leading to the recruitment of vocalist Glenn Wikran, drummer Rune Erling Pedersen, and bassist Aleksander Schjølberg. The release of "Into the Night" garnered international acclaim, captivating listeners worldwide and receiving high praise from critics. Notably, the music video for their hit single, "Someone Like You," quickly gained viral popularity, spreading like wildfire across the internet. In 2019, Outlasted unveiled their highly anticipated sophomore album, "Waiting for Daybreak." The CD edition, limited to 500 copies, sold out within a mere three months, attesting to the band's growing fanbase. Tragically, shortly after the album's release, their record label underwent a change in ownership. Consequently, the physical copies of "Waiting for Daybreak" became coveted collectors' items. However, the band remained undeterred, navigating these challenges with resilience. Prior to commencing the recording of "Waiting for Daybreak," Outlasted underwent another lineup transformation, bidding farewell to drummer Rune Erling Pedersen and bassist Aleksander Schjølberg. Their vacant spots were filled by drummer Andreas Jentoft and bassist Lasse Ingebrigtsen, both of whom contributed their exceptional skills to the band's subsequent music videos, "Chains of Destiny" and "After All These Years." In 2023, Outlasted inked a significant record deal with Lions Pride Music, solidifying their global reach. Currently, the band is diligently crafting their third studio album, poised for release on March 31, 2025. With their unwavering dedication and unwritten chapters awaiting, Outlasted is set to captivate audiences once again with their irresistible AOR sound, leaving an indelible mark on the rock music landscape. Love a bit of Kim. She's done some real quality albums over the years, especially her first 5 or so albums. 'Here Come The Aliens' from 2018 was a real return to form and the 2 latest singles promise a lot for the new album too. -
Nothing has really stuck with this tbh, so a solid album without blowing me away.
