Some pretty cool shit there, how the hell do you find this stuff.

Years of searching through different websites and blogs. I developed a love for Synthpop, Electropop, Nu Disco, and anything with a good 80's vibe. I had a few different blogs I would frequent. Many of them posted the same stuff. One eventually quit, and another was too focused on Electronic side. Now I just visit one: Neon Gold Records. There are others, like All Things Go and Pretty Much Amazing, but like I said, a lot of these guys post the same stuff.

Once I find an artist I like, I try to track down all their material. Then I look for anything similar; other stuff they've worked on, been a part of, or are listed as sounding similar to or touring with.

I have collected shit-tonnes of Pop music, but I only share a fraction of it - only the stuff I think someone here might appreciate.

Where are you from, Mr. AOR? Many of these artists might be close to you. Not one that I listen to is from my area.

Here's another track. I came across this last night, and have already listened to it 15 times. The band is called Fenech-Soler, from England, so this name might be more familiar to you lot.

Panama Wedding - Uma

Roosevelt - Montreal

Seinabo Sey - Hard Time

Seinabo Sey - Younger

Tilian - Future Friends (This is my personal favourite of late. Tilian Pearson used to be the front man for a Progressive Rock band called Tides of Man. I think I'm gonna have to look into that.)

Panama Wedding - Trust

Magic Man - Paris

Smallpools - Killer Whales

So what's going on here? I always thought this thread was just basically code for "I HATE SUMMER AND I WANT TO RUIN IT BY LISTENING TO AWFUL MUSIC!"

... Like those first two dreadful songs. But what's going on, Karpetface? That Smallpools songs is actually pretty damn good. I diggit. Is there any other good music in this thread, or is the rest as awful as the first two songs in your post?

Nope. It's all shit.

Ha, you know I actually believe that. ;)

Is the Smallpools album any good?

They only have a four track EP, and that song isn't even on it.

No Story Time

KiND will appeal to some of those that liked the St. Lucia songs above, or perhaps any MuteMath fans.

The Lawsuits might appeal to any Hall & Oates or Fleetwood Mac fans.

Sweet Marcelle

Love Is Weight

Son & Thief - High & Low

Penguin Prison dropped a new album this year -- Lost in New York. His team has been quick to take down videos on FaceTubes, and all the official videos aren't of my favourite tracks, save "Calling Out."

Try to Lose

Never Gets Old

Calling Out (one of the catchiest songs I've heard this year, even if it was released last year)

Run It Up

Maroon V - Sugar (I'm probably gonna get shit on for this one, but I actually really like this song. I know it came out last year, but I don't pay attention to Top 40, so I only found out about this when I was asked to throw it on at a wedding.)

And now for some Afrobeat music that will receive immediate hate from the xenophobes. So, if you don't like foreign languages, don't even bother.

The Very Best released their latest album this year. It's called "Makes a King," and it might be their best, yet.

Let Go

Sweka

Kanyale

    • Really like that, hope there's a new album in the works
    • Don't believe they fell out , he just joined The Sweet I think and with their blessing? Think doing it on Diamonds would have sufficed...end that chapter of the band and onto the next.
    • but then again I didn't really have high hopes on it...hopes yes...but not high if I'm honest.
    • Video for 'Change The World'.
    • Be interested to hear this...after all of this time.
    • New album 'Another World' out June 21. Press release: Atlantic was the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter Simon Harrison. Following a successful ghost-writing career and his bands Stranger and Wisht, Simon wanted to make an album in his favoured AOR/Melodic Rock genre. Heavily influenced by bands like Whitesnake, Journey, Bad English, FM and Dare he set about writing the songs that became the first album entitled ‘Power’. Atlantic was never supposed to be a long term band and following its worldwide release Simon moved on to other writing, recording, production and mix projects. In the late nineties Simon met Mark Grimmett. He recorded several songs with Mark over the following few years and they decided at some point they would make a record together. Fast forward to 2021 Mark was talking to Simon about writing and recording a new album. Originally entitled the MGB Band, work started in the fall of 2021 … By early 2022 they had written a number of songs and they both felt they would best suit a new album under the Atlantic banner. Several members of Grim Reaper were recruited to give the Album an edge, whilst retaining the essential melodic rock/Aor feel that is Atlantic. Mark Pullin, Julian D.Hill and Ian Nash were duly recruited into the band along with keyboardist Gareth David Noon from Serpentine .. The lineup was to change later in the project with Simon and Tim Bristow taking over the keyboard role and the addition of Nick Burr and Andy Margrett on lead guitar. Work continued over the next year and finally the production was completed in late 2023. Mark Pullin stepped up to mix the album after some unforeseen issues at Simon’s studio and it was completed in March 2024. Escape Music had re released the original Power album and were absolutely the first choice to work with on the new album. Their new album “Another World” will be released exclusively by Escape Music, exciting times. The band is: Simon Harrison – Guitars, Bass & Keyboards Mark Grimmett – Lead Vocals Mark Pullin – Drums, Backing Vocals Nick Burr – Lead Guitar Julian D.Hill – Bass Tim Bristow – Keyboards Gareth David Noon – Additional Keyboards / Andy Margrett – Additional Lead Guitar / Mark Pullin – Additional Lead Guitar All songs written by Simon Jewell-Harrison & Mark Grimmett Except * Co-Written by Tim Bristow. • Not a fan of Staind, but this song popped up in my YouTube feed and the lyrics just hit me right in the heart this morning.    Beautiful ballad in my opinion…
    • It's ok but at the same time not doing much for me.  To me this sounds like this could've been a modern Bon Jovi song.  If you're basically making music that sounds like Bon Jovi, why not just go back to Bon Jovi lol. As it is, Richie's solo stuff has never really grabbed me and don't see myself returning to this. Do plan to check out the Bon Jovi documentary on Hulu this weekend though
    • That chorus is much more melodic than I was expecting; not bad.
