Most definitely NOT Marq Torien of the Bulletboys. The song "The Sweetest Victory" is credited to Touch over on the main site: http://www.heavyharm...CDName=Rocky+IV

it's according to where you look. at the end of the movie it was credited to Mark Torien. just now went back to double check myself and it is credited to Mark Torien.

Well, upon a little more investigation, it appears as if the "Touch" credited for performing "The Sweetest Victory" bears no relation to the Mark Mangold Touch. Evidently, there was no band named Touch, they just used that name on the soundtrack credits. Anyway, it doesn't sound at all like the Marq Torien of the Bulletboys to me. If it's him, he started out with a lot more vocal prowess than he exhibits these days.

You also co-wrote the excellent "The Sweetest Victory" from the Rocky IV soundtrack. What can you tell us about the "Touch" project, there wasn't any real band behind this moniker, right? Were you ever involved in anything more than providing the song for the soundtrack? Duane: NOPE!! I meant Sly – we where in the recording studio together for the movie. Great guy ! Little guy but I would not want to mess with him !

 

Did you know about the other TOUCH from the states? They had a minor hit in 1980 with "Don't You Know What Love Is" and featured Mark Mangold on keys.

I kind of wonder if its maybe an early name for (or early version of) King Kobra as the same writers wrote the song for them on the Iron Eagle soundtrack.

This might also explain where Toriens name comes into it, as he was briefly a member of King Kobra.

It could be that they had initially planned to call themselves Touch then changed the name when they realised the Mangold band had existed.

I don't think I'd compare Marq Torien of the Bulletboys to Steve Perry after hearing his cover of "Faithfully".

I can't tell if that's Marq or not but I guess he could be using a little different voice as there are some high parts that sound like him IMO.

 

Did find some interesting infom on his wikipedia page:

Marq Torien (born Mark Maytorena on September 22, 1962 in Los Angeles, California) is the ac/dc lead singer of the hard rock act BulletBoys. He is the only member to have remained with the group since the release of their self-titled debut album in 1988.

 

Prior to BulletBoys, Torien was a guitarist in the then-unsigned band Ratt, a member of Motown recording artists Kagny & the Dirty Rats, and a lead vocalist briefly for the band King Kobra.[1]

 

In addition to periodic BulletBoys ventures, Torien's solo projects included Sexual Chocolate, Ten-Cent Billionaires, and This.

 

Best Of The BulletBoys CD/DVD was released on July 18, 2006.

 

Torien added vocals on the track "Texas Lawman" From The Regulators on their 1993 self-titled album on Polygram/Polydoor.

 

 

In the book 'Off the Rails' by Rudy Sarzo, Sarzo tells a story about Torien's audition

for the Ozzy Osbourne band after the death of Randy Rhoads as the group's guitar.

 

I knew he had been involved in Ratt early on and I thought he was also playing guitar with Debarge at one point but didn't know about the Ozzy audition.

I think you are thinking of Sweet Victory from Spongebob SquarePants

I came across this a year or two ago. I think that it IS him, just singing a different style, plus a few years prior to the first BulletBoys album.
