Phenomena - 'Blind Faith' (2010)

Recommended Posts

Just got this CD the other day on a total whim. I'd not heard a word about it but the write-up seemed appealing. Gave it a spin and this is great stuff. If you have loved the Voices of Rock CDs or even the Shining Line CD for last year, this is what this is like. An "all-stars" melodic hard rock / AOR project with some really great songs.

I see this guy has quite a discography. Anything else worth checking out?

Track Listing:

1. The Sky is Falling

2. Blind Faith

3. Fighting

4. Liar

5. I Was Gonna Tell You Tonight

6. Angels Don’t Cry

7. If You Love Her

8. House of Love

9. Don’t Ever Give Your Heart Away

10. One More Chance

FYI, here are the artists featured:

Band:

Tom Galley – Guitars

Mel Galley – Guitars

Martin Kronlund – Guitars and Bass

Jim Kirkpatrick – Guitars

Imre Daun – Drums and Percussion

Dan Helgesen – Keyboards

Henrik Thomsen – Bass

Special Guests:

Mike DeMeo (Riot & Masterplan)

Rob Moratti & Ian Crichton (Saga)

Tony Martin (Black Sabbath)

Ralf Scheepers & Mat Sinner (Primal Fear)

Mikael Erlandsson (Salute & Last Autumn’s Dreams)

Chris Ousey (Heartland)

Steve Overland (Overland, FM)

Stefan Lindholm (Vindictiv, Firecracker)

Terry Brock (Giant & Strangeways)

Robin Beck

Tommy Denander

So who else has heard it? Any other fans?

I highly recommend all the Phenomena releases.....the first is a little soft but still well worth having IMO...

I will investigate. Are they all similar to this, with multiple vocalists?

Multiple vocalists are found on most of their releases......I suggest picking up "The Complete Works" which includes the first 3 releases plus bonus tracks....

Thought ex 21 Guns bassist/keyboardist Leif Johansen would be involved with this project as he has been in the past and with his former bandmate Thomas Laverdi finally resurfacing within the genre on the Ken's Dojo track Demon in Diamonds I really hoped there might be a chance he'd be one of the guest vocalists. Unfortunately, both are absent entirely.

I think you will like the second one Geoff. It's called DReam Runner and it's an excellent slice of melodic rock with such great singers as Glen Hughes, John Wetton, Max Bacon and not least the late Ray Gillen. His sings his lungs out in No retreat, no surrender which is a clear winner. Judge for yourself. It's just great:

This was actually one of the first album I bought on cd when it was released.

Nice, thanks for the tip. That sounds like the one I'll look for indeed. :)

It's not as good as 1-3, but it's certainly a very good, solid album for sure - love the Robin Beck and Steve Overland tracks especially. Seriously, if anyone hasn't heard the 'S'T, 'Dream Runner' or 'Inner Vision' discs then now is the time to do so as they are all terrific. I would steer clear of the disappointing 4th 'Psycho Fantasy' though.

I really like the "Psycho Fantasy" release although I must admit it is certainly the heaviest of the Phenomena releases...I consider it their 2nd best CD...of course to each their own -_-

Nice discography. Here's how I have rated it all these years later;

1. Innervision - 1993 - 80%
2. Blind Faith - 2010 - 79%
3. Dream Runner - 1987 - 75%
4. Awakening - 2012 - 71%
5. Phenomena - 1984 - 67%
