I couldn't find a Youtube for Giant, but I'm sure you guys have all heard their new album.

Could it be one of thaose songs written by an independent writer and bought/recorded by both artists? Kind of like KISS, Ace Frehley and some female singer all did with the song "Hide Your Heart"

Well, in the liner notes on the new giant, "Save Me" is credited to Dann Huff, David Huff, and Terry Brock. Sure enough, Dann & David played on the Schlitt CD containing "Save Me", so I'd say it's theirs to do with what they please most likely.

Alright, thanks. That's all I wanted to know. Didn't want to stir up some shit. I figured there would be a reasonable explaination, and there it is. Great songs - both of them.

I'd forgotten that Holly Knight co-wrote that. I never knew Bonnie Tyler recorded it as well. I knew Molly Hatchet did, and I should know that nobody here would mistake that name for a woman.

Haven't heard either song but, no, unfortunately this isn't the case. It all comes down to who owns the publishing. If the publisher of the "original song" (in this case, the John Schlitt track, right?) feels that there is a copyright infringement case they can go after the Huff's, etc - even though they were involved with both songs.

 

A while back John Fogerty wound up "suing himself" when one publisher decided that a new song of his at the time was too similar to an older song he had written and recorded with CCR. It's a fun game I tell ya!
