If it's a person's name you should type it the way you say it. So for Melissa Etheridge, the first letter is "M" and the last letter is "E". (So actually, using Melissa Ehteridge after Montrose was incorrect. Earl Slick or Emergency would have been correct. But no worries. Play on! )

Are you sure about that? Because if you go to the record store you would look under Etheridge when buying her CD. Just like a band that starts with 'THE'. You don't look under the T's in the record store. For instance, The Beatles would be under 'B'.

 

So, in this game, if someone types 'Testament' would the next person type 'The Beatles'?

You are absolutely right on all counts. But somewhere along the way it was mutually agreed upon to exclude the "the" (isn't that an English band?) from the beginning of a band's name, but to use the artist's first name. Now stop confusing me!
