Here's another interesting one for modern rock fans. On the downside, the tunes are generally a bit on the slower side of the tempo coin, BUT, the production job is possibly the best I've heard all year - the band sound amazing. The rhythm guitar is awesome, I really dig the guy's voice and some of these choruses are off the f*cking charts. I've only spun it once and there's a couple of fillers like the opener and 'Stronger', but the others were pretty much excellent.

Already, I can name 'Start over', 'Tell me' and 'Wasted' and three of the best songs I have heard this year. Amazing choruses.

Decent tunes imo. Nothing really blew me out of the water. Production was definitely good though. I wonder if Travis Wyrick produced the album since he is first on their friends list.

Keen to hear your thoughts. It's not all perfect, but jeebers f*cking christ those 3 songs - 'Start over', 'Tell me' and 'Wasted' - are completely stunning.

Okay, I have to admit it. I'm on the verge of declaring this my favourite modern rock disc this year, so far. The three songs I mention above are just plain and simply stunning. 'Tell me' is incredible. And this guy's voice is by far the best I have heard in modern rock this year, and possibly ever? I love his voice, drenched in sincerity. The thing I also like is there is a filler-ish kind of song around track 4, but the rhythm guitar and vocals kind of save it from being a filler. My hands won't stop reaching for this disc either, which is always a good sign. I'll see how I go, but seriously loving this one.

Do you actually read your typing before you post?

P.s. I really like the sound of this - am looking for this now (better not be another bloody download only). Anyone know a store that's carrying this?

Is it currently 2010 in Greece? I know there was a time-zone difference between the UK & Greece, but I didn't realise it was a full year....

Yeah I like this. Im not maybe quite as mad about it as Geoff (it definitely wont be my fav), but there are a few great songs on here....and what I thought (on first listen) were a couple of filler as well.

I completely agree on 'Start Over', 'Tell Me' (highlight of the disc) and 'Wasted'.

But i'd also add 'Dirty Girl' (G - hope that wasnt your filler!!) which completely kicked my arse and is awesome.

There are one or two choruses which just didnt quite live up and I found myself hitting forward a couple of times, but overall a good solid modern album with strong vocals and great playing.....one thing I would add is that one song had a short guitar solo and I found myself thinking if only theyd thrown a few more in!

Cheers

Nah, 'Dirty Little Girl' is 4th on my list too, funnily enough. Absolute killer song. Only 'Stronger' is a filler to me, and the 4th song is close... just saved by some nice rhythm guitar.

And Tim and Justin, far as I know this is only digital at the moment, but surely these guys will HAVE to release this on CD.

Not the 4th song - the 3rd, 'Break me now'.

I tell you what guys....I was listening to this earlier and in particular the song 'So Long'...thinking hey I actually really like this one (was one that I had skipped on the first listen)...it was something about the chorus which struck a note, you know like i'd heard it before...really recently.

& then it dawned on me............................................

Listen to them back to back and it is uncanny. Quite a rip off I must admit. The chorus sounds very very similar.

OK, some more throughts no this one.

You know why I love this so much.....sounds like Disciple. Music and vocals.

For example how close is 'Dirty Girl' to 'Falling Star'. Musically and vocally spot on and both are killer tunes

    • I have learned not to assume these kinda releases are stand alone so I won't be buying the digital single, that's for sure. Been bitten with that one before. And if it does end up being standalone, well the digital single will still be available later. I don't like buying anything digitally, so only do it when there is no other choice.
    • Fairh In You - Jack Russell
    • Eclipse played that same game when Apocalypse Blues came out.  They dropped that song as just a single and made no mention of an album at that point as far as I remember.  All they were doing was selling the 7 inch vinyl.  We know now though that they clearly knew a full album was coming as Erik said they basically were working on both albums at the same time and deciding which tracks would go on each album.  Granted, maybe they didn't know the full timing of album #2 at that point but they certainly knew one was coming. Maybe the same here.  Maybe will trickle out a few songs and then announce an album later this year or early next year when it's closer to release.
    • So, Danny posted how the song is doing on Spotify and someone asked if this means a new album soon. Danny just made vague replies and said "well there will be more stuff coming soon"
    • Funnily enough, I read that this afternoon when I went to add the album to my collection on the main page. I got the European version which has two bonus tracks ... if you don't have them, you really aint missing anything
    • Faith in the Heartland-Journey
    • Created and Posted this video recently in order to promote Ryder SRIII a little more.  I love this song, one of my personal favs from the record.   Be careful viewing at work though (NSFW), just for a couple of images in the video.
    • Named my HH self after the song Auslander on the album Stain. Love that track. Really like the whole album. It's like Living Colour's "Slave to the Grind" or "Dog Eat Dog".
    • From Frontiers: TRACKLIST: 1 Awesome God 2 Stand Up 3 Warrior 4 There You Are 5 Speak His Name 6 Why God Brought Me Here 7 Praying 8 It's Up to You 9 Holy Moment 10 Leaning on the Cross 11 Jesus Christ --- When a musical family gets together to record, magic can happen and this is what the VAN ZANT’s are here for! Brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant (respectively current lead vocalist of Southern Rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd and founding member of .38 Special) were able to find room in their busy schedules for the first time in 1998, recording their collaboration album “Brother to Brother”: a tribute to their late brother and Lynyrd Skynyrd original singer and founding member Ronnie. Such release was highly acclaimed between the press and fans worldwide and brought the duo to record a follow up album, simply entitled “II” in 2001. Their collaboration during the years did not stop as they tapped their feet in a more Country-oriented style with the release of “Get Right With the Man” (certified Gold in the USA in 2005) and later on with “My Kind of Country” in 2007. Now the brothers once again reinvent themselves, offering a Christian-themed album encompassing their Rock and Blues musical roots (and with a touch of Country for good measure). The result “Always Look Up” is made up of songs that will touch the listener’s heart and soul, with an emotional depth that is truly second to none in today’s musical landscape. Experience the soul touching that only the music from the Van Zant family, can provide. You will see why they are icons of the American South, and musical heroes to millions around the globe!
