New band out of Switzerland produced by Michael Bormann. LOTS of big choruses and background vocals going on based on their few myspace songs. Should appeal to plenty on this board.

Nice find, not a big fan of the vocals but the songs themselves & the awesome harmonies make this sound pretty cool. It's kinda Melodic Metal - a bit like Starbreaker - with plenty of keys, will definitely check this out...

Yeah, I've been seeing this band's name pop up in a few places this week and was looking for some more on them. I actually thought it was another Bormann-fronted project. They sound pretty good, but like Tim I'm not sure how keen I am on the vocals. Nice big choruses, definitely sounds a lot like recent Bormann projects. I'm not sure this'll rank too high with me, but I definitely will be giving it a good and proper spin.

Anyone picked this up? If so would like to hear how good this is (difficult to judge from the very few soundclips)....

First three songs are boring crap, mate. I guess I'll listen to the rest of it, but not particularly in a hurry after that start.

I have Had the CD for a while it takes time to get use to it . Seems like the last 4 songs are the best rest are fillers . Really surprising with Bormann Producing it ! Anyone listend to the new band bormann is fronting called THE TROPHY ?? The release date on it is I believe April 17 or somewhere around there .

Yeah, I must have said it in another thread (I thought it was here?) but I agree. There are a couple of okay songs (but still not great) towards the end, but the damage is already done. The start and majority of this CD is just so average and filler-packed. One of the most boring listens I've had for a while. I doubt I'll even spin it again to be honest.

I did catch the sound samples of THE TROPHY yesterday. Bormann has whored himself out yet again. Sigh. Again, it was decent, but it's nothing like his glory days with Jaded Heart.

Listening to the myspace now.. reminds me of Crystal Ball.

I haven't really dug Crystal Ball since their first 2 flawless releases, but even their last few CDs are better than this, imo.

So did anyone else bother with this or did they (wisely) take my word on it? I listened to it again last night for Matt's sake, but man, this is just crap. Some of the weakest songs I've heard on this type of release in the genre for ages. Awful CD.

    • Pretty crazy, what's going on in China at the moment. Thank goodness you'd never see something like that happen in Austra- oh. Uh, as you were. There must be plenty of videos like this out and about at the moment-
    • Haha, a couple of you guys keeping pretty quiet about changed minds on synthwave, after being pretty vocal about how terrible it is/was? I must say, I never got into the dark synth stuff like Dance With The Dead... more for the fact that I need vocals with the synthwave I really dig. I've actually heard a few dark synth bands this year I've passed on, with vocals, that I wonder if there'd be interest in here? Just gotta try to remember who they were...  As for the best of the year, not sure what to make of this year. There's an absolute tonne of good to very good albums, but when I look at the top end I'm not exactly blown away by any amazing albums. Good ones, and a lot of really excellent songs this year... but my highest rated album this year is 82%... which is a good album, but nothing looks like even threatening the 90% mark this year, which seems extremely unusual. The best of last year, for instance, seems a lot better than the best of this year. Still, I can't complain as there's been a lot of good music... just not as many great entire albums.
    • Another band ruined by frontiers.
    • Yeah, sad news. Even though she was a quiet achiever in that group with Stevie getting most of the attention, she sings Lead on two of my favourite "Fleetwood Mac" tracks. "Little Lies" is a Killer. R.I.P.
    • For me, "Run-D.M.C." in '88 on their "Tougher Than Leather" tour when I was 16. A bit left field, but I loved these guys in my early teens. They weren't afraid to embrace Hard Rock guitars in their music.
    • I was there too mate. You can't beat the atmosphere of a concert "in the round". I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.
    • Keep a lid on it
    • This one looks like a fun ride....
    • I keep sticking with the band but my initial thoughts are that this is basically hookless. I sure hope this was just released as the first single cause it is loud and fast and isn't considered the best song on the upcoming album.
