Can I smell a rat here ?

Recommended Posts

I have purchased one of these from this seller last week who states they are from his own collection, but it also states, it is a Japanese remastered release through the Duran Duran Fan Club.

Prior to me buying this, he had 6 for sale and over a couple of days , it went down to 5, 4 then 3 ,2 so I thought i would get one because they are going pretty fast and everything seem legit even though they were Jap issued fan club CD with extra tracks and the items were located in Finland.

Well when you purchase it, you have to wait until they send you the invoice before you can pay for it.

Well the invoice arrived in which you have to pay with Paypal through CCNow but the sellers email address finished in .ru which means Russia............ Straight away I thought FUCK, something is not right here and now I see he has another 6 for sale......Can I sense something shifty here ?????????

Where does he say it's from his personal collection? I don't see this anywhere in the auction.

I do know that people in Russia cannot sign up for PayPal, so in order for them to accept PayPal payments, they have to go through a secondary processor like CC Now.

Up in the "item location" section if I re-call correctly.

Yeah, In the item location it say's "From my collection" but it also states that the Country of origin of the CD is Japan

His feedback is excellent with no one complaining, only praising.

I lot of buyers would not recognize a boot if it kicked them in the ass ...ahem this includes me unless it is a badly done boot, so good feedback is almost meaningless where boots are concerned...

I always recognize a boot when it kicks me in the ass. I pay special attention to the leather, the stitching, the laces, and--most importantly--the owner of the foot inside the boot. You know, so I can return the favor tenfold.

What's that? Not the kind of boot you were referring to? Ah, well, never mind then. As you were.

I've heard rumors of some new Russian bootleg imitations of Japanese pressings with OBIs, so it could be one of those.

(Wow, already my second post! ) Yes, you're right! These are bootlegs and take it from me: excellent ones. I have bought several items from Igor (day-bidder) and never been disappointed. The only thing that sets them apart from the real thing is a: some Russian writing (especially on the OBI) alongside Japanese/English and b: you KNOW it isn't an official release.

So if you don't mind a bootleg or two: go for it :banger: , if you mind: :gone:

I myself have the two Andy Taylor CDs from "day-bidder" so I'm happy  and pleased with them :chug:

 Ah that Sam! I thought it was him but wasn't sure. Anyway don't think for a minute I'm on Sam's side on this subject  but maybe sometimes there's the exception to the rule....or is there?

I guess someone's gonna comment on this. That either you're against bootlegs or you're not, that you can't be both.

So don't get me wrong, I'm 99.9 % against it.... :huhsign:

There are plenty of reasons to be against boots .....unfortunately a lot of the stuff being booted is not available in proper release form so what is a music fan to do....it's too bad there aren't more people like stormspell who are willing to re-release product by relatively obscure bands, until we can get the music we want we have a choice , you can buy the boot or go without......neither option is satisfying....

This CD arrived and I must agree with Backstar, if not for a bit of Russian writing on the OBI, it is otherwise a very professional package.

I'm very happy with it.

    • Forgot to mention this here, but last month I was officially declared as in remission.

    • Former QUEENSRŸCHE Singer GEOFF TATE Underwent Aortic Valve Replacement December 6, 2022   May contain affiliate links   Former QUEENSRŸCHE singer Geoff Tate has revealed that he underwent an aortic valve replacement this past summer. According to NHS, an aortic valve replacement is a type of open-heart surgery used to treat problems with the heart's aortic valve.   The aortic valve controls the flow of blood out from the heart to the rest of the body. An aortic valve replacement involves removing a faulty or damaged valve and replacing it with a new valve made from synthetic materials or animal tissue.   The 63-year-old musician discussed his health in a new interview with Beneath A Desert Sky. Asked how he is feeling, nearly five months after his operation, Tate said: "I feel really good overall. This might be the first time I'm telling someone in the press what I went to the hospital for. I had a procedure done called an aortic valve replacement in my heart. Long story short, I was feeling very fatigued one day while on tour. It was challenging for me to climb stairs. Anyway, I thought it best to get checked out, and after several tests from my doctor, he indicated that this particular type of surgery needed to be done. I'd say it took around a month [after the surgery] before I started feeling better. Honestly, I could barely walk after it, and I couldn't sing at all. Before this, I'd never been in a hospital in my life."   He added: "I can't say that I'm feeling '100 percent' better, so to speak. However, I'm definitely feeling a lot better now than I was over the summer. Just taking it a day at a time and am grateful to get back on the road." On July 3, Tate took to his Facebook page to share a photo of him with Dr. Sami Kueri from the department of cardiovascular surgery at the Universitäts-Herzzentrum Freiburg-Bad Krozingen (University Heart Center Freiburg) in Bad Krozingen, Germany, and he included the following message: "All my gratitude to the talented Dr. Sami Kueri for giving me a healthy heart!! Feeling so much better each day!" In June, Tate said that he would take a few months off the road as he recovered from a medical procedure.   On June 13, Geoff, who fronted QUEENSRŸCHE for 30 years — from the band's inception through 2012 — took to his social media to write: "I am having a medical procedure and my health professionals want me to recover over the Summer. I will be back and rocking South America in January. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the road." Tate's recent tour celebrated the 30th anniversary of QUEENSRŸCHE's "Empire" and "Rage For Order" albums. In April 2014, Tate and QUEENSRŸCHE announced that a settlement had been reached after a nearly two-year legal battle where the singer sued over the rights to the QUEENSRŸCHE name after being fired in 2012. Fellow original QUEENSRŸCHE members Michael Wilton (guitar),Scott Rockenfield (drums) and Eddie Jackson (bass) responded with a countersuit. The settlement included an agreement that Wilton, Rockenfield and Jackson would continue as QUEENSRŸCHE, while Tate would have the sole right to perform the albums "Operation: Mindcrime" and "Operation: Mindcrime II" in their entirety live.   Tate was replaced in QUEENSRŸCHE by former CRIMSON GLORY singer Todd La Torre. Geoff will embark on a tour in 2023 to celebrate the 35th anniversary of "Operation: Mindcrime".
