  1. these guys show that you can still make an enjoyable song with generic, borderline cheesy lyrics if the other elements are there
  2. I am one of those who prefer their style on Knock You Down and Sultans over the direction they've gone in with the last few albums. I thought the initial promo tracks for this one sounded solid so I gave the album a spin. Not bad, but at the end of the day none of the tracks really grabbed me like those earlier releases.
  3. I liked the first two promo tracks for the new album, but this one not so much. And as Geoff mentioned, the video clip itself is pretty bad

I hope you and your wife are doing well. Those are difficult enough jobs, but I can only imagine what you both are going through during a time like this. I anticipate this will remain a major concern here in the U.S. at least through the summer. In areas hardest hit it really overwhelms the hospitals. The economy was overall in good shape, but we've already seen lots of furloughs and layoffs. The federal government has unfortunately been playing catch up through most of this and has had to re-evaluate their assessments and action plans often. Despite warnings for years from health officials, it seems like both the current and last Presidential administration failed to keep a proper inventory of the necessary ppe and emergency medical supplies. The state and local governments have had to manage much of this on their own initially, and all responded differently. As such some areas of the country may be better off than others by June/July. While other states will likely have ramifications for months beyond that. It astonishes me to see people not taking the recommended precautions seriously while others hoarded essentials early on leading to panic buying and stores struggling to keep some items in stock. I am grateful my family is well and I remain employed, working from home now. I check in regularly with my parents, mother-in-law and a few, older neighbors. I try to remain calm so my family feels safe. But to add to my general concerns, I was diagnosed with neuroendocrine cancer last October. It's a manageable disease with regular monitoring and treatment, but I am in the high risk category, so my stress level is at a maximum.
  5. As was mentioned, intro & outro don't add much and should have been edited a bit, but overall a good tune
  6. I'm liking that as well, look forward to hearing more
  7. it was bad enough when the thread started by disparaging Extreme, but then people spoke ill of the Crue and Dokken, and now it's gotten borderline sacrilege with the inclusion of Journey, Boston, and Dio
  8. I agree Glen, it may not have lived up to my expectations after hearing those initial promo tracks, but still a really good album
  9. that's the impression I got as well in reading the post, if an album of new material is in the works count me as interested but otherwise I'll pass
  10. In listening to the promo tracks I'd agree with your thoughts that the band has taken a step forward with this follow up. I'll try to check out the full album.
  11. Solid AOR tune, I'm interested in hearing more from this release
  12. I listened to this one today. While not quite as good as Jean and Joel's other recent project, Hearts on Fire, it's still a solid release. If you liked either of the promo tracks it's worth checking out as those are a good representation of the quality and style of the rest of the album.
  13. tough task to narrow it down, but at the moment I'd consider these 10 right near the top of my list (in no particular order) Def Leppard - Photograph Bon Jovi - Shot Through the Heart Night Ranger - When You Close Your Eyes Honeymoon Suite - What Does It Take TNT - Intuition Lillian Axe - World Stopped Turning Journey - Separate Ways Dokken - Kiss of Death Van Halen - Dreams Skid Row - Wasted Time
  14. after giving the new track a listen I see why the comments are on the critical side, song is just OK for me, and the production sounds well below their usual standards
  15. Count me in with those who are enjoying this one. As Jez mentioned, it falls short of topping The Greatest Wonder, but is as good or better then the project's other releases.
  16. Probably not, but I had lost interest in these guys a few albums back. So I really hadn't looked at the cover much until the comments today.
  17. HaHa! that might be an even better observation, I hadn't noticed until you mentioned it
  18. That is a good observation, quite possible the images were from the same person or collection
  19. I gave this a spin last night. Initially I think it is a step down from United. While the typical HS hooks are there, they didn't seem as instant. I would compare it style wise to Thirteen, but I believe this one is more consistent from start to finish. In the end I think it is a good release, just not as many stand out tracks as my favorite albums from the guys.
  20. I wasn't familiar with this band but based on the positive comments I decided to give it a try. And I am glad I did as I found it to be a very solid album. I plan to go back and check out their debut too
  21. I agree, the mix takes away a little from what otherwise seems to be a pretty good album. I've only listened to the promos on YT and the tracks on Spotify, so I'm curious if any forum members with a physical copy are encountering the same
  22. I thought their EP was pretty good. A few of the same tracks are used again here and while sometimes those can be the best tracks on a band's full length there are several other good tunes to be heard. The country rock influence they showed on that EP is continued on few of the new tracks, but even if that style isn't your preference don't let it deter you from giving this a chance. As Cure pointed out there is plenty of variety from track to track. I will say, I hadn't really noticed the vocal similarities to Chad Kroeger until The Rocker pointed it out, but I did pick up on that while listening to this one. Overall I think it is a solid album and one I'd recommend checking out.
  23. The last album didn't do much for me. Outside of 2 or 3 tracks I rarely listen to it. I much prefer the guitar driven style used on this one. As far as the songs themselves, my favorites are similar to most: Dangerous Ground, Come Clean, One by One and Rise. But really outside of "Rock Your Body" which has an annoying chorus and "Nothing To Say" which was just OK, I found the rest of the songs to all be either good or great. Future spins will determine how it stacks up, but I'd be surprised if this is not in my top 5 come year end.
