  1. Lights Out Its official, I'm old and I have missed the boat on the new wave of "scary" movies as this one was as dumb as anything I've seen in the past 10 years. Ridiculous "plot" yes in quotes cuz' there was none and OF COURSE let's do the well overplayed jump scare. Jesus this was played out in the last 2 seconds of the first Paranormal Activity and has just gotten worse and worse. If your not familiar with this one here is the trailer: Will someone PLEASE stop making these glorified Goosebump-esque horror movies and make something worth a watch and another thing PG-13 and "the scariest movie this year" are not synonymous. For those keeping tabs anyone at age 13 does not know from scary OK. In case you missed it, AVOID!
  2. Time is a LAME ASS excuse. I veiw HH on my phone during commutes and such and yes I put some extra time posting up about bands that noone likes but still, to hit the latest posts add a comment or two takes less time than taking a shit.
  3. These kids have been about a while and this is their 4th studio release that just dropped in the US in January of 2017. https://www.facebook.com/badbonesband From 2013's Snakes & Bones

    Hangar

This should harden a nipple or two around these parts as the band and the songs are most excellent. Just Like Heaven is a massive fluffy arena rocking ballad and then Reality Is As Prison is a complete 180 into power metal territory. These Brazilians have been thumping about since 1997 and this is their 9th release and there is a macmillion clips on Youtube and their sites. https://www.facebook.com/officialhangar Another softer arena rocker from 2012:
  5. Word. Cool story Keith, still have the book? RIP Sir Richard.
  6. Battlecat is a new band from Germany that plays some nice hard rock with alternative NU elements. They just dropped a 3 song disc. Good vocals for the genre and keep listening into the late 2 minute mark as the solo is pleasant and obviously something missing from a good many modern hard rock tunes. Enjoy! https://www.facebook.com/BattleCat.pb
  7. Well you are Canadian. As I mentioned and Geoff commented upon (glad there is another like me down under), I don't consider a release unless I own it and not a digital dl but a physical copy. Also I, as mentioned, deliberately go after albums and bands that are way off the reservation. The goal is twofold discovering new bands and sharing them with others so they get a couple of FB likes or maybe sell an album or two. Look some of them up as you may be pleasantly surprised. I did listen to many of the more popular and well known releases I just didn't buy any of them. For example I love the latest Metal Church but it isn't in my collection yet so not on my list.
  8. Yes that was a very entertaining and historical game for sure. Tom is a stud and the records he holds will be very tuff to surpass as will those of Coach B. Really unclear why Hotlanta stalled after half time though as they were in the drivers seat no doubt. Almost like someone flipped a switch. Favorite moment: Roger Goodell showered in boos as he handed off the Lombardi trophy. Simply classic as he is a world class chump.
  9. You can. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. You will have to sign in.
  10. I see that all the EP tracks are on Youtube and the original singers story is a sad one as is the bassists. I like the songs and the singer. Interesting the progression from a WASP-ish sleaze metal band into a sleaze band into an almost top 40 hard rock band. Obviously the progression sold more records.
  11. For clarity from my perspective, I only rate records and bands that I have acquired physical copies of their material within the year. SO as you can see NOTHING mainstream or Frontiers released in my lists. Only deep web independent releases need apply for me as these are the hidden gems and the bands that truly need our support.

    Endless

Here is a Brazilian "metal" band that has 4 releases over the past 16 years or so and the latest late in 2016. Not to be confused with an American screamo band of the same name. https://www.facebook.com/endlessface/
  13. Cool sounding new band from LA for those that enjoy some synth pop/heavy rock. Reminds me of Portland's Slowrush from a few years back among others. I think Jim will LOVE this band... From Oceans Media PR: NEON COVEN DEBUT EP “RISEN” OUT TODAY February 1st, 2017 - Neon Coven, the new industrial rock band from Los Angeles, CA, has released its debut EP “Risen” today via New Ocean Media. Recorded in Hollywood, the EP was produced by Jacob Bunton. The EP consists of 4 tracks ranging from songs about survival and balance to emotionally charged anthems. The EP can be streamed on Spotify. Neon Coven is comprised of Anthony Montemarano (vocals), Jacob Bunton (bass), Ace Von Johnson (guitar), and Kyle Cunningham (drums). The album’s title Risen is a dedication to the fallen and broken who refuse to back down and give up on their dreams. “The idea behind music is to connect, create and inspire” states frontman Anthony Montemarano. “Between life and death, we are always riding the quantum edge.” “These songs reflect on the uncertainties of life and coming to grips with our own mortality” adds bassist Jacob Bunton. “The only guarantee we have in life is that one day it will end. It’s up to each one of us to create our own destiny and live life to it’s fullest. The world is full of ups and downs, but I’ve always believed in the Rocky Horror quote ‘if you can dream it, you can be it.” From Los Angeles, CA, Neon Coven abandoned much of the ethos of the tradition of heavy rock to create an intellectual and theoretical sound, linked to an emphasis on anthemic, synth-heavy dance-rock. “Risen” track listing: 01. Down 02. No One Knows You’re Dead 03. Bleeding Love 04. Queen Of Scars For more information, check out the band’s Web Properties: Facebook: www.facebook.com/neoncoven Sound Cloud: www.soundcloud.com/neoncoven Instagram: www.instagram.com/neoncoven Official: www.neoncoven.com
  14. As I kept listening I started making comparisons to bands like Incubus and Zebrahead I still think when the singer is singing he has a nice rock voice.
  15. So apparently Superheist are an Aussie NU Metal band from days gone by and they released a new album, their 4th, Ghosts of the Social Dead late last year after a 13 year hiatus. I'd never heard of them unfortunately for me, but I am very much enjoying the diversity in the singles Fearing Nothing and then Hands Up High, huge songs musically and the singer has great pipes imho. Very enjoyable the juxtapositions. I won't do the comparison game, I'll let you all chime in. https://www.facebook.com/Superheist/ http://www.superheist.com.au/ Something from 2001:
  16. This should appeal to some of the more advanced listeners aboard. Very proficient and technically dynamic modern prog metal. Think Dream Theater on steroids with Avenged Sevenfold injections. Very nice and their 3rd release, an EP dropped in 2016. https://www.facebook.com/dyssidiaband/ From the 2015 EP:
  17. Nicely done 3 piece gallopy power metal in the Hammerfall, Maiden vein from Bielefeld Germany. Destiny is their second effort released in 2016. https://www.facebook.com/Metalmind http://www.metalmind.de/
  18. 3 days til the big fiasco I mean game in Houston. Two rules of thought prevail when predicting the outcome: 1. Goodell's reign will continue to influence the outcome and Mr Brady will saunter off into the sunset with two buckets full of accolades with a Patrots victory. Or 2. And the preferred option is Hotlanta humiliates Bill and Tom ala the way the Seahawks manhandled Peyton and the Broncos a few years back.
  19. I thought the Scotti Bros versions are two fold. Similar to the Spread Eagle self title with two mixes.Am I missing something here? There's anither version of Spread Eagle S/T....... Where?!? PleeeeeaaaasssseeeeeI'm not able to cross reference from my phone but there is another thread dedicated to this topic with examples of the differences and such.
  20. Cool as it looks quite good. Glad It's not a turd.
  21. Forgot about this one. Need to re add it to my watch list.
  22. Good problem to have trying to catch them all. Enjoy the hunt I know I do.
  23. You missed absolutely nothing as mentioned that was the beginning of the end.
  24. Just got this in the post last night, haven't a chance to spin it yet but of the 2 singles so far they unfortunately aren't as catchy as the stuff from the last album.
